  1. Thanks for the posts so far folks. Good to see what folks have been up to.
  2. Howdy, and I think the one name was Keiphus.
  3. Thanks for posting! The only major crit would be that his left side (our right) is slanting a bit over.
  4. I will see what I can do :) It is possible to draw water, though you have to plan thoroughly. Just use the side of the pencil to shade the shadows.
  5. Howdy :) Oh alright, post your best 3d then if you must!
  6. I am not looking for render images etc. but if you have done some great paintings or pixels please post them. I am looking to see what folks have been doing when I was gone and it is taking too long to search for it all! I have seen some good pieces so far though. Besides, everyone likes a chance to post their best stuff.

Just a fairly quick work for a daily sketch topic. I really ought to check back here more often, there is some pretty good work around here lately. But most of my practice recently has been nude pencil drawings for anatomyh study, so no posting those. I still need to decide what to do with the wings or whether to even finish it. Just something out of the usual for me.

  9. What brush settings are you using?

Yeah, that was a holdover from attempting it in painter first. I need to go back and fix that spot I suppose.

Background in Painter with oils, trees mostly in photopaint.
  12. Sky done with oils in painter. The trees were done mostly in photopaint because I couldn't get the right brush in painter.
  13. Painted it to be more precise, but thanks :) I don't really use lines at all anymore unless I am drawing with pencil. I just block out the shapes then shade it.
  14. I intended to get to trees, but then I saw some new oil paint blending techniques to try with painter so I did something different. No reference used, so probably a number of anatomy issues. Practicing blending.
  15. My suggestion on texture would be to use brushes that are still hard, a bit less opaque, but in a new layer. Then use the transparency function of the layer to blend them in if necessary. That way you can just delete if it doesn't work. It is a less stressful way to practice :) especially when you are just figuring it out. Eventually you can skip all of that, but I usually still do it anyway just to be sure. I also compulsively save at various points so I can go back to an earlier version if I really mess up.
  16. I like the coloring job! The little eye-like holes in the tree are cool too. Only critique would be the lack of any texture.
  17. Good start :) what program and techniques are you using?
  18. Good to hear! And thanks for the critiques.
  19. Put up a new version
  20. I think you may be right. However, it is late at the moment. So perhaps tomorrow. I could use a contrast brush just on the rim. Or I could manually tone down the other one in certain spots.
  21. Hm, not ringing any bells.... sharpened it up a bit, and increased contrast a bit.
  22. Green fairy...which one?
