  1. Didnt see it mentioned in a search here, so figured I would post this. Right Hemisphere released a pretty decent free version of their painting program. http://www.download.com/Deep-Paint/3640 ... 2&sb=0&v=0 It works as a stand-alone application or as a PS plug-in.
  2. Anything now that xman posts people will say "it isn't your best." And some of them who say it are resentful over the fact that they have a more detailed pixel style but make less per sig. Frankly, it is a matter of first to market. Xman branded himself before the others got there. Just the way it is. Now there are two ways to look at his style. 1. he is lazy, not growing because people buy them anyway. 2. he is giving the people what they want--his characteristic style. Both are probably right. He has said over and over that pixeling to him is a MONEY MAKER and he doesn't consider them to be art as such. So why stress over it. He doesn't have to do anything new if he doesn't want to. The buyer is happy, he makes his money AND he doesn't have to spend needless extra hours doing manual AA, tons of shading etc. And when you have a backlog of buyers a mile long, that is not small consideration. People want an x man sig that is decent quality QUICKLY. They don't want to wait extra weeks while he adds shading to everyone in front of them. I don't blame him one bit. Sigmakers love to see the detailed work. Buyers just want their character portrayed the way they think of them. And if he can do that, he is doing what is best for him and his buyer. I was recently reading on concept art a post from the pros talking about their work environment. They live around deadlines. Often times they can't do the perfect piece for a client because the client would rather have close to perfect NOW rather than perfect later. So they do their real art for themselves on their own time. I see this being similar. I would say there are some pixel artists right now who do some "better" work on the shading end, no doubt. But they are not having to do them at the rate, AND with the expectations that xman has.
  3. again revised the face....hopefully improved. Let me know if not.
  4. Yup, stock sites handle all that with their liscense. Some, such as stock xchange etc. have a permission system that allows the poster to decide whether anyone can use it (but should make them aware of commercial use), or must ask before getting access to the full image. So whether you see a copyright image or not is really not an issue at all. They are all copyrighted.
  5. I have 708 fonts ready to send you, in a zip file, but...have one little nagging question....aren't most of these copyrighted and therefore illegal to send on in this manner?
  6. yeah, the arrow special does draw attention, and just emphasizes that he is shooting from the hip... great work on the back wall especially, and keep the glow.
  7. I rather like it but not sure about that little plant in the background to the right.
  8. thats a good thing. lol, sorry, got to agree :) anyway, fixed some issues in the latest revision: changed eye placement and size, shrank the whole head just a bit, elongated the neck, softened the jaw line, reworked the brow and hair line etc. Hopefully fixed a few perception issues.
  9. Finally finished the thing.
  10. Well the hair is eventually going there, and you probably saw the red hair there before, so not a terrible assumption :) But yah, it will have darker hair.
  11. Images are by default copyrighted, no process is needed to make that official.
  12. I think you all might be going about this the wrong way. Exercitum has always been known to be a rebel clan, and they really could care less what the tip media board thinks. However, if someone were to make a thread over in the clan section about clans sanctioning theft of copyrighted material....then you get all the other clan shaming them. The clan world is all about credibility. If you look like idiots you don't get recruits, clans go out to whoop you etc. If there is someone who has credibility with the clan world it would be best to post it. Someone like mrxman actually could post it as he has made sigs for lots of clan folks, and has a stake in the issue as well. Beyond that you could see if tipit would ban the clan from the clan discussion boards and recruiting threads. Now that would get their attention (though supervegeta himself may already be banned, haven't followed clans for a while now). Looks like Bartba did the recent post. I doubt they want to lose their spot on the best clan discussion board in rs over some ripped sig.
  13. there is no hair yet, so not sure how that would be, but the original model has dark hair. I chose the red because anime traditionally does not use as many muted colors.
  14. k, now going for a realism feel...couldn't stand that anime thing, and it didn't win the contest anyway lol. So now re-working it. And I think I have the rear problem diagnosed...but will fix that tomorrow.
  15. yeah it may be. I really have no clue how big to make anime heads. This is my 4th attempt at anime, and all the earlier ones were universally reviled :) Thanks for the compliment :)
  16. http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart ... 9&limit=24 If you notice those, the top favorited anime pieces at devart, a lot of them use soft shading. I am not going for purist here, just anime enough to qualify for the competition! haha anyway. yes, she has a big butt. I suppose that is true, although the reference I used had a big butt.
  17. Thanks, Yeah I think so too, but some anime have pretty serious shading...I am just doing that part for the contest. it seems no one really looks at the face overly much anyway...just the hair, eyes and body lol.
  18. looking good so far, the scan makes it tough to see the bg, but we assume at whatever size you are working on it looks alright :)
  19. NO! do not use a lens flare! lol, anyway, my biggest gripe is the black outline around the figures. See if you can eliminate it. Pretty good image :) and just a bit of light highlight through the middle of the dolphin goes a long ways to help with the depth.
  20. Well it is not perfect, but it is finished :) overall I am pretty happy with it. It was a very challenging piece. Reworked the body, did the face, hair etc. this time. Think I fixed the rear issue, it had more to do with the width and contour of the leg than anything.

I have an intuos 1 and I like it better than my wife's graphire 3. So even if you get an older intuos it might be worth it. The little integrated buttons and all are alright, but the big thing for me is the TILT. It senses the tilt and you can set your usual level of tilt. Now evertime I use the wifey's I notice the difference. Of course...she never used mine much, and likes hers just fine. So I guess it is not hugely critical.
  22. That is Sunli's sig done by jeppoz. Just pm both of them and let them handle it if they care to.
  23. Actually there is a way around that. Just paint the whole bg black or white first with the big brush. Then you just paint that color over what you messed up!
  24. hey blazer, I am liking the bat! nice work. I think these purely line ones are perhaps more fun than the painting ones due to the somewhat limited painting model. The only thing I don't like about ARTPAD is that they keep all rights to it.
  25. I will let them sort out the arm and lake, but I would say even at night you should have a little bit of moonlit highlights on the statue etc. ..soft white ones. Coming along well!
