  1. Upon further investigation I see that my method of construction could account for some of the jumbled items. I will attempt to remedy it.
  2. ah, thanks for the tips on hosting. Er not sure why a pdf wouldn't line up. That is the whole reason pdf's exist....a ubiquitous standard for document distribution. If you want it in Wordperfect I could also do that. Word...er..I could do that but would take serious conversion. Html...I might do that down the line. For now I did pdf because I plan to print it off and use ith with the participants. Also because it is standardized...or should be. I did notice one mistake...there is overlap on the spoon image. I will fix that later.
  3. Nice work! and good shading tips there GS. I look forward to seeing this completed.
  4. I think the reason is somewhere around the tune of 3 to 4 million gp :) He has explained before that customers like AND PAY FOR his style. So at this point, assume it is a given until they stop liking and paying for it. If we want innovation out of xman, let's have him do NON-SIG works. It would be more worth his, and our time.
  5. Great work there Venomai! I really am liking those pencil sketches. The leaf was cool too, but the cleanness of the sketches was really good. Princessa, nice work! Hope now that you have that tablet you will be cranking out stuff left and right. NOTICE........I need testers for my drawing lessons. I am doing a class soon, and I want to see if the handouts are clear enough to follow. If there are any of you reading this willing to help go here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=311881
  6. EDIT: New version, fixed some problems, added a section on perspective. I need help testing these drawing lessons. I am going to give a class soon and want some feedback. They are in pdf format. The file is 2 MB (11 pages). So please do not start if you don't want to download that large of a file. It just wastes bandwidth that way. They are designed to allow you to download the pdf, print it and use the paper that you printed to do the actual lesson on. The exercises that I had before are largely present , as well as some others. I REALLY WANT SOME PEOPLE TO TRY THEM WHO DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT DRAWING!!!!! But others can use them too. http://rs_vultures.tripod.com/drawclassosesion1.pdf If you download it I ask that you 1. Leave your name here letting me know, as well as how much drawing you have done before. (Are you a beginner? Been doing it for a while? ) 2. Try them out and give me some feedback. Thanks! Once about 100 people have checked them out (if that many!) I will take the link down to prevent overloading of the server. So be the first in line! If folks like the lessons I will see about some way to host them on a regular basis for the community. Future parts of the lessons will include: Perspective, horizon line, etc. Tips for specific types of dawing (landscapes, figure, portrait etc.)
  7. Corel Draw is another there is a free vector package from Serif as well. You can also sort of make them in ps with the pen tool. A program called satori photoxl has an odd blend of a raster/vector format.
  8. Nadril, I realize you are taking a beating in some of the comments lately, particularly on this and your previous work. So I don't really want to pile on. But ...having said that. I guess I will. I don't mind that you named it Mt. St. Helens. That is fine, it tells us what the inspiration was. But ...um...and here is the crux of the matter for me, a mountain is not inspiration. The thing people were upset with before was that you had too many pieces that look the same. Hello people, it is TERRAGEN. What do you expect? It can't do it all. There are only so many odd atmosphere effects that you can do to make it look like a. hell b. mars c. some other unknown planet and even if you keep finding more of them, those get boring too. There is no inspiration that Nadril could find in this program that would suit anyone right now ,because it doesn't have the scope. The fact that you based it off of a premade terrain only tells me that you didn't do as much of your own work, so we should be MORE harsh on the other aspects (composition, colors, etc.). And in this piece the whole thing is washed out. Big time. And the hills have that oh so nasty rounded plastic cg feel to them. It kills ANY piece that has it. if anything what I liked about the one in your sig is that you avoided that problem. I don't expect miracles of originality. It is not possible with this program. But if you are going to impress us in terragen you MUST have stunning visual qualities, and this doesn't have it. The only thing more realistic about this one is the imported landscape--and that was not your work, and not THAT realistic. Face it, you are experiencing what everyone here does if they stay long enough--raised expectations. Pretty soon you will see at least one person in ever thread you make saying.... "uh, it is ok. You can do MUCH better. " Which translates to ...that sucks. why did you post that? When in fact it may BE better than your other work, but not sufficiently for anyone to notice. You have an added problem. Your program might not ALLOW you to go to startling new heights.
  9. I am not sure if I am allowed to post the name of another fan site or not, but the debate has once again been engaged on whether Jagex allows sig selling for runescape money. There are so many screenies saying opposite things that it gets confusing. Recently another fan site banned seling for rs gp. 1. Do you think tip should allow selling? 2. debate the ethical, moral, gameplay, etc. ramifications about sig selling (yes again, why not, we have to have something to do). 3. Discuss how this will SEND MORE NOOB SIG MAKERS OUR WAY OVERUNNING US WITH A DELUGE OF UTTER CRUD. (Sorry to be pessimistic about this).
  10. Nice work princessa :) And I hope ya like that tablet! Oh ,and of course good work to bunny too, but I am biased. Here is mine for outdoors.
  11. Editing: Corel photopaint, a cheaper pro level package Painting: Corel Painter 7 ....latest version is 9. Any of the versions about 5 are awesome. vector/illustration: Corel Draw...usually comes with the same package as photopaint. If you want a free painting package try pixia or open canvas 1.1 A free illustration package is made by serif for those who want one.
  12. I like the style :) Good work.
  13. Check this thread at cg talk. It lists a few possibilities. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=123320
  14. for the style not too sharp. What size will the final be? I like it so far.
  15. Thanks. Given that it was going to be tiny I didn't worry about facial details. I found out the hard way several times that if you do them they just look wierd when they are shrunk. The fairy actually only took 20 minutes...but that can...err that can...took a long time. I am liking the air brush though. It is very versatile.

Honestly, not sure there is much to get If you read the daily sketch thread you would realize that I did the work for a daily sketch, and just stuck the fairy in there to make it fit because I wanted to paint a can! haha. I actually like the can by itself better. The reason I picked a diet coke can was because it had an angle I liked, an I wanted to try lettering, but not a lot...as I am not good at it. The other just sounded good later . I wonder how many times we do that with real art. Besides, what kind of title would "can" be? And here is the fairy at a larger size. I like it, but just not quite the same as the can, especially given I didn't use reference.
  17. Thanks :) Here is the fairy at a larger size. I like it, but just not quite the same as the can, especially given I didn't use reference.
  18. tttia replied to tttia's topic in Art and Media
Incidentally..I suppose fairies could be any size.
  19. tttia replied to tttia's topic in Art and Media
Thanks for the critique. Here are a few thoughts on why I did things the way I did. 1. It is a background. It is a cold, non-natural environ symbolizing modern reality 2. diet coke....a further step down the reality road....industrialized people get fat, have to drink diet coke. 3. Why didn't I take a picture and paint over it? Because that would hardly be air brush practice, or a daily sketch, which is what this was.
  20. Yeah, truth be told, the fairy was just part of my original concept so I threw it in. I really like the can best :)
  21. tttia posted a topic in Art and Media
Here is todays. It was not quick at all. This was painstaking to get the can right. It is called Fading Habitat. 100 percent air brush, no reference on the fairy, reference on the can.
  22. slayer, nice sketch. I like the building especially, and the evil face is pretty good. Not quite as sure about the other, only because I don't think I quite get the whole thing. What "operations" do you mean? Good sketch on the DNA building. Here is todays. It was not quick at all. This was painstaking to get the can right. It is called Fading Habitat. 100 percent air brush, no reference on the fairy, reference on the can.
  23. New topic--structure, any kind of structure, can have other stuff too.
  24. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=100097 Look at the bottom for tutorials. Good luck :) If you just want to have one and don't want to make it, head to the media market board and you can but one.
