  1. Ouch, you've bruised my ego! It's more the consumer's fault. If consumers demanded green fuels, the car companies would make clean cars. But the average consumer demands massive SUV's and the Oil companies make billions off of them.
  2. Actually, most Biblical scholars worldwide agree that an American President could not be the Antichrist. While it's certainly possible, it is more than likely that the American people could remove him before he gained enough power. Likely Antichrists can include the Pope, UN General Secretary, etc. Basically people who have access to a power base the world over. In Left Behind the US, Britain, and Australia actually rebel against the GC (UN modified by the General Secretary who becomes the Antichrist) because they are so conservative and wary of international powers.
  3. Wind power is sufficient here. More than half of West Texas' energy is supplied through wind turbines at LaMesa, Swee[bleep]er, Post, and many other sites. Best thing is, after 5 years the things pay for themselves and provide free energy. We breathe clean air out here.
  4. No way. Just because God knows what will happen doesn't mean He forced it to happen. Knowing != Causing. Yea, that can be a separate debate in itself, if God is perfect, doesn't that mean he knows the future? But he said we have free will...anyway...lets try to stay on topic ;) that kind of stuf is a matter of fate the bible is written at least 100 years after christ (if you beleive it wich i dont but lets not start those stuf) so it wont be perfect so some of (if you beleive) gods visions wont be good maybe the bible has it wrong but i stil think that evry good thinking person who beleives should trow away their bible and beleive what they think their god truly is. trow away every riligous book from evry religon think what you think yourself from god, christ, budda alla (i dont know the names sorry people) and just think what you think of them yourselfs you Ugh, how misinformed. The Bible was written as it happened. The Gospels were written shortly after Christ's death. The Revalation of John is the last book of the Bible and it was written only 50 years after Christ's death, immediately after the Revelation itself. And I watched the History Channel programs...they were horrible. When the Bible talks about the Beast, it refers to an Anti-Christ. A human son of Satan. It's a dream, given to John in a way that he could understand. If God showed him the true Apocalypse with cars and nukes and other modern things, he would not have understood.
  5. The moral question, Sat, is which is better: Stability at the cost of a government that actively persecutes it's own civilians (with sons that have a beheading [specialInterest], mind you). Or instability with free government? It's hard for me to accept option B, but I would much rather have it over complete violations of human rights. At least the various sects have the freedom to worship instead of being ditched in mass graves for thinking differently.
  6. None, if the mainstay of that video is that the world will end on such and such date, I don't even want to see it. Sounds like Dan Brown's wet dream or something.
  7. Actually, very little of the insurgency is aimed at the US troops. The only US casualties in the past few months were soldiers sent to aid and reinforce Iraqi troops trying to keep the peace. The current violence is not about the US. It's about the Sunni vs Shi'ite Islamic sects. Al Qaeda and the Iranian groups are giving them weapons and preaching hatred towards the other group. The anti-US forces know they can't win by force against the US. They are now just trying to wear down public opinion. It's a pretty good and legitimate strategy. Bush would like nothing more than to pull out the troops. He was extremely dissapointed that the violence has set back his plan to call back the troops this April. If it was just resistance to the new government, our boys would be home this Spring. Al Qaeda saw this. They made a new war, which will keep us there for at least another two years. :( PS: To arc_knight: Bush doesn't write his own speeches. No President since Washington have written their own speeches. There is a staff at the White House that gets a list of main points from the President, and then writes it up in an eloquent way. And I took AP US History, Government, and Economics. In addition, I am a senior History Major. Thank you.
  8. He's not the first bad speaker as President. Monroe, Polk, Grant, Garfield, Taft, etc all were crappy speakers. And they only had to speak to a few thousand people, not to the entire world! Carter and Ford sucked at speaking. LBJ stumbled all over himself. If JFK wasn't reading from a script, he was fumbling it up. Whoops-di-doo! Not all presidents are amazing orators!
  9. Oh right, considering the past 10 years were the HOTTEST YEARS EVER IN THE WORLD ( by a lot, off the charts type of a lot ) We've had a lot of El Nino activity. I hear Doomsdayers in New York because it hasn't snowed this year. I live in Texas, in a desert. We've gotten 5 inches of snow in the past week, and are expecting more this weekend.
  10. I might make a topic about it. Why not? 1999 marked the first year in the history of Earth when all of the prophecies of The Revelation of John could take place. Kinda eerie. Not to mention from a Christian/Hebrew standpoint the world is kind of going to Hell in a handbasket.
  11. I was about to say that the Bible was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. Decoding of English phrases is pretty pointless. And to None2None. I've pretty much established that your "prophecies" are pretty much a giant hoax.
  12. Deforestation is man-made, I agree, but it still falls as natural. The same thing could happen if lightning struck a tree and a forest fire began. That's not really gas emissions, but a lack of natural conversions.
  13. Actually, according to the Sermon on the Mount, He will come like a thief in the night for those faithful to Him. They will be spared the 7 years of Hell on Earth. And those left behind still have a chance for redemption. The only way to truly fall away from God in the Christian Faith is to take the Mark of the Beast during the 7 year Tribulation. The Final Judgement won't happen until the 7 years are over, and all Mankind from Adam to Steve from Accounting will be judged. Any who didn't take the Mark from the beginning of history will be given the chance to accept God. And yeah...I think staring Christ in the face would be pretty convincing, no? :P Of course, that's just what the Bible says will happen. Take it how you want. That's why I don't believe in a physical Hell. If you don't cut it for Heaven, you are just put in stasis until you have your final choice. Works out to be a tidy arrangement. And it's why I blew up in the Evolution thread because someone thought they were so Holy they could condemn someone else to Hell.
  14. So you're telling me, cow farts and farms polute more than all the cars and factories in the world :?: The penguins down there must have anti-radiation suits eh? To quote A: You realize there are more animals in the world than cars, right? Our rectums do not have catalytic converters. There is more farm area in the world than makes up all the roads in the world. Every time that field is plowed, it emits a huge volume of greenhouse gas. Have you ever seen a Harvest Moon? See how completely distorted the sky is? That's all farm gas. To quote B: The hole is not sufficient enough to allow Sol's radiation in great amounts. It's not really even a hole, just a weakened section. If it was an actual hole, our entire planet would be devoid of atmosphere. All the CFC propaganda movies from the 80's were "what if's" in case the entire atmosphere melted away. With the disuse of CFC's, that's extremely unlikely to ever happen. Case in point: it's not enough solar radiation to hurt animal life, the little animal life that actually exists down there. Remember that most Antarctic life lives on the coast, while the interior is completely uninhabited (and the 'hole' is above the interior). Heh, I doubt rising seas will kill us. Sure, we might have to abandon some cities, but that won't kill us. More dependancy on air travel until the waterline levels, but shouldn't be a problem these days. If it happened 100 years ago, it would suck, but not now.
  15. If you follow this theory, than yeah, I agree that God will choose the day when he sees fit. And will give us a few warnings to test humanity as a whole. Of course, I don't believe this, but if you do, this is a reasonable assumption. Assumption, Hell: To anyone who even reads the Bible, it's there in bolded red text! Christ Himself said it! It's undisputed fact that Christ said it. Any Christian who dares to claim when the Earth will end is a FALSE PROPHET! Amusingly, Christ's warning about false teachers is like 4 verses after the above! Uninformed Christians tick me off.
  16. Pfft. It's nothing special. Earth's been cooling and warming for billions of years. In fact, I'm in the middle of the biggest Ice Storm I've ever been in. Man's contribution to greenhouse gases is less than 5%. Volcanoes, cow farts, agricultural fields, etc will forever put out much more than we can. That hole in the ozone layer's been there for thousands of years, too. It's actually smaller than the big CFC scare nowadays.
  17. Before this gets out of hand... FAKE! The flaw is that it "predicts" when the world will end. According to Christ, the "day and hour is unknown, even to the Son." Only God knows when he will destroy the world. In fact, it can even be assumed that He has not set the date. After all, it is His Wrath. It's whenever He gets pissed off enough.
  18. Thanks for your amazing opinion. It may shock you that just because he speaks very articulately and clearly with a Southern accent does not make him [developmentally delayed]ed. In fact, it's fair to say that he has had better education than you will receive in your entire life.

Crosbeyton, Texas does that. The small town has a State Highway Patrol car painted on the side of the general store facing Lubbock on 114 West. Thousands of Texas Tech students drive this way, so they see it and slam the brakes. It works very well. I've been tricked a few times as well. The painting is ultra-realistic, and has been updated to the most modern HP vehicles (changes twice a year from car to truck).
  20. Wow. I don't even know what to say to that. Thanks for that intelligent and helpful post. As for these "monpolies on future energy efficient ideas," do you guys know this for a fact? And if it's common knowledge, then why isn't somthing being done about it? Monopolies aren't allowed are they? Legal acquisitions, sadly. They've been doing it for a hundred years. After the Anti-Trust sagas of the early 20th century, they've gotten REALLY good at bending the rules.
  21. We should be lobbying to stop those monopolies. Texas will profit from clean-energy. As our own oil reserves die out after the embargo on foreign oil, we will recieve massive amounts of natural gas from the wells. Natural Gas = Propane for clean-burning fuels. 85% of all construction equipment and 95% of all ranch/farming vehicles in Texas run off of Propane. When it goes commercial nationwide, we will be RICH. There: Oil companies profiting from clean energy. Amazing. I'd love it, since my family owns a few wells. Since they are old, we get lots of gas and have very little places to sell it for a good cost.
  22. I may be showing my age here, but freak dancing shouldn't be practiced by high-school students. It's not appropriate. It's basically dry-sex standing up. It's less dancing and more for sexual pleasure of the male, and to satisfy the skankiness of the female.
  23. Bush is not an oppressor, geez you sensationalists. I voted for him in 2000 and 2004, but I am starting to regret it. Not for what he has done, but what he hasn't. However, I will crap bricks if the next President (Republican or Democrat) does not do what he calls for in the State of the Union. Get us the heck away from oil. PLEASE. Federal funding for clean-fuels research would be nice too.
  24. It's optimized for 2 gigs RAM, a modern processor, and a DX10 card. It will run on my 1 Gig, 2.8 Ghz DX9 system, but not at full potential. You'd be better off playing FS9 because it would look and play better.
  25. FSX will destroy almost any computer unless you can run Vista flawlessly. FS9 (aka FS2004) is 20 bucks and with a few tweaks and addon packs (try a site like avsim.com), it looks amazing. I play every few days while I read for class.
