  1. So which fansite is next? I think that's the real question.

RuneVillage, Sal's, and RSWiki, in no particular order. :P

Basically the only ones that haven't already been attacked. Hopefully after seeing what's happened to almost every other Runescape fansite they'll be prepared and have doubled checked their security.

  2. Glad to have the forums back! I don't know how many times I ended up checking them over the past few days. Thanks to the Admins for working so hard on getting things back up.

Yes! Now I can back to getting my TiF fix via harpy blog and Forum Games.

Although, there is a possible chance that this won't be the last time Tip will get hacked and downed again like this, can it?

I don't think it could ever be guaranteed to never happen again but I'm sure the Admin team is continuing to do their best in preventing it in any way that they can.

  3. is there any freaking way of making money other than merching, dicing or staking? or super.ultra high lvl boss hunting? skilling is [cabbage] now, they fing destroyed the game, remove stupid free trade, let us play the real runescape, not this crap

    REMOVE FREE TRADE¨!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    now I feel better =)

Merged your topic with this sticky as all bot rants belong here. ;)

  4. Seeing as this is related, how come at the bottom of pages, some members names are italicised?

Do you mean where it shows the active users? If so italicized names just means they are writing a post at the moment.

    edit

Just realized I missed a whole page of people who already posted the answer. >.<

  5. Make the Metagaming forum a subforum of Archive of Wisdom and rename it to "Data and Research."

If you're going to do this, make the subforum name "Data and Research (Metagame Discussion)". Otherwise, it will lose most of what causes it to make sense, which may cause some people to lose track of where that forum went. :-|

    I support this.

Rename "Tip.Iters Runescape Events" to "Tip.Iters Events, Groups and Teams" to better incorporate looking for boss hunting groups or partners for similar activities.

Again, no problems here, I think. I might however re-categorize this forum in order to allow for more than just RuneScape events. We could potentially allow for FunOrb/WoL/etc. (e.g.: Any Jagex-made game) events here, depending on the retaining of the current FunOrb/WoL/SD forums. ;)

Personally, I'm surprised I haven't already seen a bunch of FunOrb-linked event threads down in its' board already. But, that may have been caused by the original lack of early adoption of a board for FunOrb-related stuff.

We could always add that to guidelines sticky but to be honest, even with the Funorb forum every event that people tried to hold didn't get very much participation so I don't think the need is really there.

Remove the Graveyard's "Rate This & Advice" forum. PKing questions may be posted in the regular Help & Advice.

Seriously? Yuck. This would be like dumping iced tea in someone's hot coffee. Seeing as I'm not a PK'ing-oriented person, I would very much prefer not having PK'ing-related content in my face while I'm trying to look at the non-PK'ing-content of the H&A Forum! Of course, did you Mods/Admins think of Skiller/PvM players (of which I happen to be one of) when you thought of this?

The Graveyard's Advice forum is dead anyways so I doubt you'd see more than one or two topics about pking a week in H&A anyways. That being said some people aren't skillers, and some people aren't monster hunters, we can't segregate everything based on personal preferences.

Merge Sports & Fitness with Off-Topic.

While I don't visit Off-Topic, and don't have much of a personal tilt on this at all, I would beware the current Sports & Fitness crowd. I don't like the idea of hearing the serving of a bunch of knuckle sandwiches because they got mad at having their stuff merged with the usual Off-Topic traffic. :ohnoes:

Sports & Fitness used to be part of Off-Topic to begin with; we made a subforum but it just didn't take off as well as we hoped which is why we want to merge them back again.

Return literary discussions to Off-Topic. Actual works of literature will remain in the Varrock Library but general discussions about novels may be posted in Off-Topic.

Eh, good luck with this one. You might get an uproar from those who prefer their literary discussions separate from the usual Off-Topic traffic. :-s

I don't think there will be much of an uproar considering the Varrock Library gets only a couple dozen posts a month at most. It's like the Sports & Fitness subforum, we moved literary discussions to the Varrock Library but they promptly died for the most part so we want to move them back and leave the Library solely for sharing creative works.

Remove the entire "Other Jagex Games" category and all forums inside of it. Users can create a thread for each game in the Video Games & Consoles forum.

Uhh... NO... Just flat [bleep] NO! Dropping discussion of these in with PC/Console games is asking for nothing short of serious trouble. (That, and I don't need to land up with a good discussion about something like FunOrb's Arcanists and/or Steel Sentinels shoved down 3 pages by useless stuff... i.e.: Spongebob Squarepants, Crash Bandicoot, and/or Banjo-Kazooie ... the list goes on...) Especially if it gets limited to just one thread per game. Just have a look at the FunOrb Discussion forum, and you'll see just how multi-threaded and expanded things have been. And if FunOrb itself ever gets off the ground again? Well, this kind of removal/merge would result in a definite uproar. One you can be certain you'll find me involved with!

BTW, I may not be into Stellar Dawn and/or WoL, but I sense the same risk of trouble with removing these. In all cases, the last post dates may be somewhat old, but there are still Tip.It'ers who play those games from Jagex.

They were expanded when they were first released because there was interest in them. Jagex's given up on Funorb now (It's going to be phased into "Jagex Games" I think on their Jagex site), War of Legend isn't nearly popular enough compared to other video games to merit a board, and unless we get some news about Stellar Dawn there's nothing to discuss. None of the forums have had any content discussed in months so there's really no sense in keeping them.

    (So many quotes!)

  6. I don't particularly care for sci-fi novels but has anyone read The Hunger Games?

I read it and enjoyed the series quite a bit. It's not too heavily sci-fi influenced in that it takes place in a post apocalyptic world with a corrupt government city at the heart of the story. It's a face paced book with a lot of action to keep you reading.

  7. I'm currently starting my first year of University in a few days studying Computer Science. Right now I have no idea what I want to specialize in but I love math, problem solving and technology so I'm sure I'll find something that really interests me. As for a career, there's so many possibilities available which is one of the reasons I chose to study computer science in the first place.

  8. Honestly I'm a little disappointed with this month, all we're getting is a new quest and a few new items. Granted the quest should be awesome and has been a long time coming so hopefully quality > quantity.

Jeez, what more could you want?

It's not a matter of greed, like you're painting it to be. It's just not the norm.

Compare it to the content released in November 2008, the month when WGS was released. We got the following:

    • Stealing Creation
    • WGS
    • Holiday event

    This month we're getting

    • New herb and prayer restore potion
    • Ritual of the Majarrat
    • BXP weekend
    • loyalty rewards

More on a list, but in terms of replay value, not as substantive. BXPW isn't really content, and the loyalty rewards list have no significant impact on gameplay. And for the vast majority of players, this new herb and pot will be useless.

So it's not really a bad thing, but it's just not what we're used to seeing. No harm in saying that--I agree with him in fact. But I'm still completely excited for ROTM :)

Wow, you pretty much just took the words right out of my head.

My only problem with this month is we're basically getting 2 updates, with one of them being just the addition of loyalty rewards which I'm sure they had a lot done when they first released the program. When you compare this to when WGS was released it seems disappointing because we aren't really getting three substantial updates and I kind of feel like Jagex are banking on the quest to hide the fact they don't have a lot for September.

That being said I'm still excited for this new grandmaster quest; I just feel like the content amount for September is substantially less.

  9. Do you have to do Darkness of Hallowvale to be able to use those two? If so.... I hate quests and I've looked at the guide for that quest, it looks annoying.

Nope you should be able to use all the villagers/adventurers. Both Zachory (med) and Pazuzu (easy) are the adventurers you can escort to Burgh de Rott.

  10. Really liking this update, didn't care much for Temple Trecking before but it's quite a lot of fun now and the rewards are awesome too.

I have a quick question. Is there an event while Temple Trekking that gives the construction boots and gloves as a drop? (the hat, legs, and body are obtained by getting your people to a high enough level to add up to the required number right?)

You have to get Zachory Bragg to level 25 for the boots and Pazuzu to level 85 for the gloves.

  11. Check out Tip.it's item database entry for it. In simple terms you basically investigate it and if you have the required skill level you get experience in that skill and then the effigy goes on to the next stage requiring higher skill levels. Complete all the effigy stages and you get an experience lamp to use in any skill of your choice.

  12. I'm gonna give it a wack. I just don't want to win the Runefest trip

I'm sure that if you won the Tip.it contest and then also happened to win the Runefest Trip from using the game card you could always just decline the trip.

Also to everyone who his thinking about entering, just give it a shot! You don't have to enter something really complex, or time consuming; just keep it simple and you'll have a great chance. :)

  13. The fictional piece was by far one of the best pieces of writing I've read in a while. Took me about half the article before I realized it was a fictional story, and I kept waiting for some "conclusion" but was instead left with a cliff hanger kind of feeling which was awesome.

  14. Yeah the trailer actually came out on their

on December 22, and was posted as a newpost here on the 24th of December.

Also the most recent update had this in other news:

Several NPC adventurers can now be found wandering the world, including the heroes from the Threes Company Fremennik Saga.

So it's not surprising that the signature heroes are out wandering ingame. I wouldn't bet on a Grandmaster quest with them yet but I could see them being featured in a lot more content over the next few months.
