This is great news, and I have little to no sympathy for the bot owners, especially if they had made enough to live in the house posted on the second page. Hopefully now this has been won Jagex can start focusing on other issues and put their money into more content, etc.

Simple yet extremely useful. It shouldn't be too hard for Jagex to implement either I would think.
What do you mean by private though; not sharing your active status?
Definitely support this.

I personally use a Logitech MX518. It's pretty much just a slightly different style of the G500 without the weights option/missing two of the programmable buttons but it's really comfortable. The Razer Naga looks kind of uncomfortable to use, but it might just be something that you have to get used to over time.

You should use the same colour blue as the the Tip.it Forum theme/the new beta site for the background.
Also save as .PNG

Wasn't willing to pay the subscription cost when it first came out but now that it's free to play I'll definitely be giving it a try.
It looks pretty fun despite the bad reviews it got.

I think the picture needs to be an actual screenshot from the game's equipment screen interface. Your pixel art, while it looks awesome, might not fit in with all the other images. Of course it's up to Hedgehog whether he strictly wants ingame characters or not.

Nice to see this being done again! :D

I've moved this to General Guides as it's a guide for players to train magic. Welcome to Tip.it as well! :)

Wasn't aware of the server cost which might be a huge problem. Also from looking at the rules default match day is a Monday which wouldn't work very well for me. :/

I wouldn't mind playing if I'm able to get on during the time. Preference would be Demo > Pyro > Engi

For the flower game, they could actually have some fun. Wait for people to work out the odds and a standard game, and then silently change the odds on them so that the host is at a disadvantage. Rather than take away the toys, keep the hosts guessing so that they never know when the game is going to screw them over.
Idea of the year here.
Honestly people will always find a way to gamble though so changing this is kind of pointless.

Bad semester for my textbook costs, 3 textbooks set me back $360 since two of them were custom editions for the class and cost $160 each. Would have had to spend another $160 but my fourth textbook was the same one I used the previous semester for discrete math so I get to reuse it again for discrete math II luckily.
Previous semester I bought them all off of amazon but it really isn't too much cheaper than my University's bookstore, especially if I'm able to get them used from the bookstore. Nice thing is I can also sell all my textbooks back for 50% of the new price which saves quite a bit of money and I don't have to worry about finding someone to buy them or ship them anywhere. Last semester I bought a used book for $60, and resold it to the bookstore for $40 at the end of the semester which was 50% of the new price so I only ended up being out $20 for that book.
I just hate it when textbooks come with online components that will be used for assignments. For example my java textbook this semester has that so I'm pretty much forced to buy it even though there's tons of other resources available to learn from. :/
Does chegg.com ship to Canada at all or is it US based only?

It's to give it a risk factor so that you actually lose something of worth if you die while in combat or pking. If it was free then all pkers would have a pretty good cape that they wouldn't care if they lost of not.

I really enjoyed Blyaunte's "Understanding Efficiency", it was refreshing to have a different perspective that included efficiency for the sake of having more time for fun things. While I personally would choose a slower method of training where I could do other things like watch a movie at the same time, when a player asks for help they don't need an opinion on how fun something is.
If I ever need advice on how to have fun, then I am playing the wrong game. This is what really hits the point home, help and advice needs to be a place where the best methods are shared, separate from your personal opinion on what is most enjoyable. Fun is a variable depending on the player, statistics and game knowledge is fact that should be the basis for offering advice.

One thing that you could add is the option not to plunder on world 64 but instead have a small group of friends or just people with the same interest plundering together. This mostly eliminates the changing doors and speeds up trips a bit. You will just have to agree on which method for banking you will use to keep nobody waiting.
That's not a bad idea. Only downfall with that is you'd all have to be able to reach the same floor level to get the most experience as well.
Why exactly? Those with lower levels can just stop a floor or two earlier - there's not much time lost if you have to check two doors instead of one on the the last floor.
If it's only a floor or two in difference then yeah I guess you'd be right. It would only be a problem if there were huge differences in the floors one can reach but most people will be level 70+ anyways so I guess it wouldn't matter.

Right, so the first page is and will probably always be
http://services.runescape.com/m=hiscore/hiscores.ws
The last page is in a link at the bottom, right now its at 32040, which takes us to the very last player in the hiscores, Magebank at 704878ish. If Magebank stays member, you can find the last person by searching for their rank.
Not quite. Someone else might slow down on their experience gains. In which case, Magebank becomes no longer in last place on the now P2P-only highscores list. The best approach would be to start from the highscores front page, just simply jump to whatever the last page is, and then check for the last rank number listed, not the name at that rank. As I type this, 32052 pages, and a final rank number of 705138 are listed on the highscores. Any name could be in that last slot, and at any given time. But, it won't always be the same person, that's pretty much for certain. :geek:
~D. V. "Here's the missing puzzle piece, explained in a little detail..." Devnull
You're missing the fact that Magebank and P H A T are both users with 9hp accounts that wont be levelling any skills to keep a "pure account". So yes while it may be inaccurate to plus or minus a few players, it's pretty much a guarantee that they will stay at the lowest rank considering the only way they will be bumped up is if another 9hp account gets members again without levels in any skill.
I know for a fact that P H A T was at the bottom of the highscores since it went P2P and only recently got bumped because Magebank subscribed. So yes, while not perfect, it would be a very close representation by just tracking one or both of their ranks.
(So yeah I support some sort of way of tracking this as it would be interesting information to look at)
Yes you could track them on the assumption they might remain the last place, but its still far more logical to just track the last entry on the last page which is 100% definitely the final place.
And overall I still stand by whats the point?
It's gonna creep back up to the full 1million entries limiter and then will remain there as a backlog of people just too low to get on will build up and be instantly filling any slots for quitters.
Yes pulling the rank of the last person on the last page would be the most precise but just tracking Magebank is an easy alternative if needed.
Also I believe the highscores was changed to accommodate 2 million players ages ago, and unless this has been changed it's very unlikely that the member count will pass this number. The point of doing this is the same as tracking one's stats, the current number of players online, or any other statistic, it's to collect data which would be interesting to look at.

Cave Story+ and Bit. Trip Runner are my favourites at the moment. There's just something about Cave Story that makes it really fun to play for an 8bit/16bit gameplay style game. It's simple but the story has been pretty good so far.

Alternatively I like to use CPUID's Hardware Monitor. It provides a bit more information than CoreTemp but isn't as compact.

Humble Indie Bundle 5 is out!
LIMBO
Amnesia
Sword & Sorcery
Psychonauts
Bastion (If you pay above the average)
The HumbleIndie Bundle V
Five incredible, best-selling games. Humble Indie Bundle V features five modern masterpieces and their soundtracks. Experience the fear and paranoia of Amnesia: The Dark Descent; the intensity and impact of LIMBO; the zany characters of Psychonauts; the future-retro, audiovisual concoction of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP; and, for customers who pay more than the average price, the exquisitely crafted action-RPG, Bastion.
Pay what you want. If you bought all these games and soundtracks separately, it would cost around $110. But we are letting you set the price!
The games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux (system requirements here).
You can support charity. Choose how your purchase is divided: between the developers, the Child's Play Charity, or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. And if you like this deal, a tip to Humble Bundle would be much appreciated!
[spoiler=Previous Post]Surprised there's not a topic about this yet. The Humble Indie Bundle 4 was just released recently and is only out for another week.
For those who don't know it's a pay what you want system where you choose the price and how the money gets divided up between developers, charity, and the Humble Bundle site.
As a bonus they've also included most of the Humble Bundle 3 games as well if you pay more than the average.
Basically you get:
Super Meat Boy
Jamestown
Shank
Bit.Trip Runner
Nightsky HD
And if you pay more than the average you also get:
Gratuitous Space Battles
Cave Story+
Crayon Physics Deluxe
Cogs
VVVVVV
Hammerfight
And Yet It Moves
I'd really recommend everyone to get it, it's an amazing deal.

essiw pretty much summed up my thoughts 100% but I guess it depends on if it would be a quick fix for a techie or not.
CPU shouldn't be a problem at all because it takes very little to open a webpage and even with a mobile version it won't save that much more space than it can be shrunk down to already.

I've cleaned up the last little bit of this thread as it's gone way off topic. Neither side is going to budge so let's just drop it and discuss the economics side of red chins, not whether it's worth hunting them or not; that's something for the help and advice forum.
Supply-side economics says these two discussions are inseparably linked.
Yeah your right, what I should have said is to stop arguing over whether you should play efficient or not. It was veering towards the fun vs. efficient argument again which is discussed to death elsewhere.

Feds Shut Down Megaupload.com
in Off-Topic
Posted
I had the same feeling too, knowing the full picture makes you feel less supportive of Megaupload & co although I wish the government did something else rather than such drastic measures.
This guy is really an idiot, I suppose these so called Internet thieves include the likes of Google, Firefox, and Wikipedia, all whom have main offices that are situated in the US.
