  1. So the first full length trailer was released earlier today and I have to say it looks absolutely amazing.

I loved the books, and from the looks of the trailer they hit a lot of the characters bang on and captured the book perfectly. Hopefully the full movie will be just as great as the trailer is making it seem.

Anyone else excited for this film?

  2. A big welcome to everyone who's just recently registered! :)

I know this is off topic, but is the pre-IPB introduce yourself thread archived anywhere?

I believe it's been moved to a hidden archive. Was there a particular reason you needed it? I might be able to move it back to General Discussion temporarily.

  3. Well, chocolate does contain theobromine, a compound very closely related to caffeine. Iirc the difference is one active group (methyl vs NH

    -group.) [/chem nerd]

    Does too! :P
The very small amount of caffeine found in cocoa may also be a concern, though a typical eight ounce cup of hot chocolate contains nine milligrams of caffeine, while an eight ounce cup of coffee may contain up to 133 milligrams depending on the brand.

    Just not a lot :-w

    I stand corrected then. :P

  4. You'll need a graphics card, something like a GTX 460 to run games on mid-high detail.

For the Windows 7 disc you can only install it on one computer so you'd need another copy. Check to see if your school is part of the MSDNAA, if so you can get a copy of Windows 7 professional for free.

If you're really constrained to a $500 budget then forget the SSD as your money would be better spent on a decent graphics card + CPU. Also just to note flooding in Thailand is causing a hardrive shortage so you're going to be looking at paying more than usual if you buy now. For example I bought this drive a year ago for $88, it's $220 right now. Just keep that it mind.

  5. One thing that you could add is the option not to plunder on world 64 but instead have a small group of friends or just people with the same interest plundering together. This mostly eliminates the changing doors and speeds up trips a bit. You will just have to agree on which method for banking you will use to keep nobody waiting.

That's not a bad idea. Only downfall with that is you'd all have to be able to reach the same floor level to get the most experience as well.

  6. I was thinking, even though Jagex is going to take a financial hit from this, if this fix really can permanently stop botters then a lot of resources (legal, anti-bot teams, account recovery teams) they've been putting towards this can now be used elsewhere. The number of servers could also be cut down which could save some money. I think a large majority of bots were F2P anyways so Jagex isn't really losing money over them leaving; in fact they'd save the money that was being used to host servers which basically only contained bots.

If they market it well enough a lot of old players might come back after seeing how things have changed.

  7. Something to consider. With bots not operational, do you think RWT companies will be more aggressive with hijacking accounts?

I'd assume so. Hijacking accounts and botting are substitutes to each other when dealing with real world trading. If the cost of botting goes up it would be more profitable for these companies to just go after player accounts. Of course if players were smart they'd just tighten up their security and we wouldn't have to worry about this at all.

  8. Frankly, I find the timing of this whole thing to be somewhat circumspect, at best. Awfully convenient that this bold move of bot removal is going to happen a mere few days prior to Runefest, isn't it?

I actually think they planned it to be this way for a few months now. I'm sure they only added that bot busting insider session because they realized that they could get this bot fix out in time for Runefest. They probably wanted to have a session to finally be able to boast that they solved the problem. (Assuming this fix is successful)
