  1. To be honest, I'm glad they removed BTS. I don't think there are TOO many of us still playing that remember the days before BTS started. As I understood when BTS came out, they were only to be used for April and May of that year- the desert and underground "theme months" (which I assume Jagex meant to continue but gave up on after only a few months). When the BTSs continued after themed months died, to be honest I was disappointed. I loved the feeling of not knowing what the next update would be, and eagerly awaiting the next Monday (yes, updates used to be done faithfully on Mondays, unless they had the rare design problem that forced them to put it out on Tuesday) to find out. Admittedly, the updates were occasionally disappointments, but at least we didn't know about them for weeks and build up our expectations only to have them be terrible. And the excitement and surprise when something both good and unexpected came out- Monkey Madness, the Brimhaven dungeon, and the Slayer skill come to mind- really haven't been matched by any update since BTS started, with the possible exception of Construction. I've always seen the BTS as a marketing device for Jagex- something to build excitement and often false hope for future updates, while taking away the element of surprise for genuinely good updates. I think after a few months players will realize that anticipating future updates is much more enjoyable without them.
  2. We've never really had a problem with it, though it's mostly up to moderator discretion. I'm the strictest mod on our boards and I'll almost always let swearing past, even if it's at someone, as long as it's done in a joking matter (most of it is from me anyway). The only points where I'll step in and make someone change what they've said is the few instances where we have had serious racist/homophobic comments, or when someone takes a joke way past the line and someone really starts getting offended. It is worth noting that recently one of the admins edited our board's censor to change the F-bomb to "truck," though since we had always prided ourselves on being very loose about swearing that was such an unpopular move that whoever did it still isn't admitting to it.
  3. 99 Hunter :D I also got full lumberjack clothing and 1000 chompy bird kills, which are important to me... I meant to get 99 woodcutting but never got around to it.
  4. Did you know that if you get a frog princess outfit and then speak to the makeover mage to become a guy, upon putting on your frog princess outfit it will become a frog prince outfit? This also works the other way around. And dun ask why I know that.

  6. My black long. Man, it took me a while to save for that.
  7. I think it's a little hard to believe the people who say they would keep playing no matter what. I mean, sure, RS is a great game, and I'd keep playing for a little while, but eventually, a game without updates is gonna get boring. One of the things that makes RS such a good game is the frequent updates. Sides, if they stopped updating, we'd never see the end of the 15+ quest series they have us on.
  8. Ahh... good times. I raised my level to five on... I think rats, then decided to go adventuring (but keepng the castle in view on my minimap so I wouldn't get lost!) and saw a mugger... back then their level still read Level 4 (though they were as strong as a level 6) so I attacked it and... died. I managed to get some stuff back through killing men and asked someone to lead me to a bank so I wouldn't lose too much if I died again. He took me up to Varrock east bank, where I banked my stuff and bought a bronze b-axe, thinking it could cut trees... then I couldn't find my way back to Lumbridge. I found my way into Al-Kharid, passed the Duel Arena (wanted to go in but was nonmember... I thought it was a construction site) and made it to the gate to Lumbridge. The guy insisted I pay ten coins which would go to Al-Kharid. I thought this was too expensive, and I also thought I was entering Al-Kharid through that gate, so I turned away, vowing to one day overthrow the monarch of Al-Kharid. I exited the north enterance, thinking it was different than the one I entered, and found my way to the chicken farm north of Lumbridge. I was assured that I was far from Lumbridge now, so I decided to set up camp until I was stronger. I remained there for the next week training on chickens before seting out and finding Lumbridge just south of me almost instantly.
  9. I'm gonna have to say that luring is okay. Please note that I am *not* a lurer (I'm actually too much of a coward to set foot in the wilderness without my clan most of the time) The fact is that you are fairly warned, and most trades take place in a bank anyway. It should be obvious to anyone with any amount of common sense at all that if someone refuses to come to you and will only trade you in an incredibly dangerous area such as the wilderness, it is a scam. Someone recently referred to this as "cut neck survival of the fittest" and noobs should be "educated." The fact is, survival of the fittest is not necessarily a bad thing (it's often the best way to go, actually) and the way people who can't tell right off that this is a scam learn to avoid scams is by falling into them. Simply telling them "this is a scam" doesn't help at all because eventually another scam will come along that they will fall into; when they get caught in a scam, they learn what the signs of a scam are. Learning by experience is much more effective than any other method.
