  1. Bonus Experience was the only update of interest to me. Lol non 99 wc/fletch/fm :P
  2. Saves spaces and can use any number of gems on skill of choice. No more only using 10 to recharge a pendant.
  3. Treevolution - High-Level Trees Members only Today brings two new trees to RuneScape: the elder tree and the crystal tree. High-level woodcutters will love the training opportunities they present, as well as the valuable produce - logs for making elder bows from the former, and crystal seeds, crystal triskelions and more from the latter. We've also updated the dark bow, which retains its title as RuneScape's most powerful shieldbow, and added deadly new dark arrows to go along with it. Elder Trees Cutting elder trees requires at least 90 Woodcutting, and the trees can be sought out at ten locations around the world. They offer good Woodcutting XP when cut, and their logs will be of great use to fletchers and firemakers of level 90 and above. They grow back more slowly than other trees, though, so you'll need to cycle between a few of them to get the best gathering rate. Fletchers of level 90 and above can create elder shieldbows and shortbows - level 60 ranged weapons. A shieldbow sight can be attached to the elder shieldbow, increasing its required Ranged and Defence levels to 65, and boosting its stats accordingly. The elder shieldbow has stats equivalent to the former stats of the dark bow, so we've increased the dark bow's tier to level 70, and its stats accordingly. It's a more fearsome weapon than ever! As a bonus, we've also added ferocious dark arrows, which can be fletched using dark arrowheads - a new drop from dark beasts - with level 95 Fletching. Please note: it's not possible to grow elder trees through the Farming skill, and there are no elder planks to be used in Construction. Tim-ber! Crystal Trees While elder trees are great for gathering valuable logs, crystal trees are all about training the Woodcutting skill. Much like ivy, they yield no resources, but offer an excellent Woodcutting XP rate. You can seek out the trees at seven locations. A crystal tree is considered 'active' when crystal formations surround it, and it is these formations - at level 94 Woodcutting - which can be chopped for some of the best Woodcutting XP in the game. Only one tree is active at a time, remaining that way for a set time before another becomes active in its stead.. To find it, head to a known crystal tree location and - if it's not active - right-click and select 'look at' for a clue. If you need a hand finding a crystal tree, seek out Wilfred north of Falador. Right-click any inactive crystal tree and select 'Look at' to get a clue of where to find the active one. While choppnig the crystals, there is a chance that you will receive a crystal geode. This is very much like a birds' nest, and it can contain valuable gems, or even a crystal triskelion piece. If you've completed the Roving Elves quest, there's also a chance that they'll yield a a crystal seed. Enjoy! Mod Nexus and the RuneScape Team How to start: Locate elder trees or crystal trees around the world. Get some friends together and seek them out! For in-game information on elder and crystal trees - including the location of a nearby crystal tree - speak to Wilfred north of Falador. Requirements: You must be a RuneScape member. Level 90 Woodcutting for elder trees. Level 94 Woodcutting for crystal trees. Fletching elder logs requires level 90 and up. Firemaking elder logs requires level 90 and up. Bonus XP Tidy-Up Free players and members We've made some changes to the way the bonus XP system works for many of RuneScape's most popular bonus XP items. While these changes are technical ones to make the content run more efficiently and to make it easier for us to develop, there's a big change to the way many of these items work. Many of the most popular bonus XP items no longer need to be worn in order for you to enjoy their benefits. From today, these items have been replaced with a cosmetic version, and all XP that they offer is stored and applied automatically, in a similar way to the Refer a Friend XP rewards. This means that you never need to sacrifice an equipment slot to enjoy the XP benefits these items offer. A list of items changed can be found below: All skill pendants from the Squeal of Fortune (regular and prized) Goblin cower shield Sous chef's outfit Hati paws Sköll boots Pumpkin amulet Christmas pudding amulet Heartbreak pendant Lovestruck pendant Mad necklace Gofannon amulet Penance horns (regular and master) All Stealing Creation gear. All Squeal of Fortune recharge gems (no cosmetic replacement) If you have one of these items already, you will need to click on it in your inventory to convert it to the cosmetic version and claim the bonus XP stored within it. If there is a choice of XP type, you will be asked to choose upon doing so. The following outfits now give a permanent 1% XP bonus per item while worn, rather than having a finite charge. There's also an additional 1% set bonus when you wear every item in any of these sets at once: Artisan's outfit Botanist's outfit Blacksmith's outfit First Age outfit Please note that the clan ring has been replaced by a claimable amount of bonus XP, equivalent to that which you would previously have received. If you have a clan ring, you can click it to get any XP left over. In the future, you can simply claim your bonus XP from the clan quartermaster, as before. Mod Wilson and the RuneScape Team Take a look at our latest Behind the Scenes video to hear Mod Mark talk about today's update, and the other great content coming this October: In Other News New seasonal hiscores are now in effect, covering chronicle fragments handed in and damage dealt to Kr'il Tsustaroth with a fun weapon. 4. Started Dungeoneering hard mode. Floors 40,41, 44-54, 60 complete so far.
  5. So they should add particle effects to all dragon weapons so that people will keepsake them. Profit????
  6. Mod Mark says Mod Olly will be talking in next week's video about Missing Presumed Death.
  7. Not 90 already? Much disappointment.
  8. It will last 100 days with diminishing returns of ~.5% per day if the Wiki is correct. I don't know much I would trust the WIki's calculation of diminishing returns but there it is.
  9. I'm pretty sure the battle will become more difficult if it's nerfed as there are some weird glitches with safespots.
  10. 300th reply! :D Completed Birthright of the Dwarves. Going to camp for a dragon pickaxe because screw paying 20M for one now. 445K from 99 Herblore, I've stopped doing daily herblore challenges for obvious reasons. :P
  11. [spoiler=Spoilers] I hid the lore from mining the statues in spoilers.
  12. Annoyed by this though: four fragments gathered from lava geysers, as well as a gilded dragon pickaxe, a million gold coins and - of course - a redberry pie Really gilded? really? Then 1M gp just for giggles or what. Way to make Lava Flow Mine not dead content for a month.
  13. Wednesday along with Battle of Lumbridge ending.
  14. Of course that assumes their definitions of high level actually mean the same thing as we think they do.
  15. Agreed, I'm hoping since it seems similar to ganodermic it will work in a similar way. The subtitle for Lumbridge Rebuilathon implies that it is replacing the typical holiday event. Especially considering there will be a lore quest with "high level rewards" involving Death.
  16. T90 Power Range Armor from non-bosses. For this and this alone <3
  17. Lumbridge Rebuildathon is the holiday event
  18. Behind the Scenes - October 2013 We're trying something different than a predictably spooky Halloween offering this year by putting an exciting new twist on the October holiday event. Add new trees, an awe-inspiring Sixth Age quest and level 90 ranger gear into the mix and youve got an update month that'd cheer up even Death himself! Lumbridge Rebuildathon The October holiday event - free players and members Its the first ever rebuildathon! Since the explosive encounter between Saradomin and Zamorak, Lumbridge has suffered horrific damage to its once-majestic castle and surrounding walls. A group of local builders, led by Foreman George, have decided to do the right thing and rebuild it. Naturally, they'll need a community of hardy adventurers to help them dismantle the abandoned war camps and reclaim the materials needed to fuel the reconstruction effort. Absolutely everyone will be able to join in, earning XP, an emote and even a unique costume from around Lumbridge: Explorer Jack's hat. There's a title for members to earn, too. Youll be able to see the collaborative effort of the players in full effect as the camps are broken down and buildings slowly raise from the ground, so make sure you get involved and help rebuild the home of RuneScape. As a special, one-day event during RuneFest, players and RuneFest visitors will be able to build something special to pay tribute to the brave warriors who lost their lives during the Battle of Lumbridge. But that wont be till November - look out for information next month! Elder and Crystal Trees - High-Level Skilling Update High-level skilling update - members only Tired of chopping down magic trees? Irritated by ivy? Feel like smashing the sawmill to splinters? If that sounds like you, then worry not, for there are two brand-new trees for the most worthy of woodcutters to branch out to this month. Elder trees (accessible at level 90 Woodcutting) can be felled for rare elder logs, which are used in a variety of skilling activities. Make new elder shortbows and shieldbows (level 60 - or 65 with a sight - to wield) with your Fletching skill (level 90 and 95 respectively) or even burn them (level 90) for great Firemaking XP. Youll be able to sell them too, of course, which will be a great new way for woodcutters to earn precious GP. Crystal trees can be chopped by level 94 woodcutters. These trees can never be fully cut down, but the crystal formations that sprout up around them give the best Woodcutting XP rates in the game when shattered! Youll need to hunt them down, though. There are a few nice surprises for elven-eyed players to spot along the way, and the chance to break off a crystal geode, which can contain valuable gems, crystal seeds or crystal triskelions. Both of these trees act slightly differently in-game, so new tactics and collaborations will need to be created to get the most out of them. We've also increased the level of the dark bow to 70 (and its stats accordingly) so it's still the best shieldbow in RuneScape. Sirenic Armour Level 90 ranger gear - members only We mentioned a few months ago that we would be introducing new higher level ranger armour to the game by adding craftable materials to some existing drop tables. This month, were proud to introduce sirenic armour. Added to Slayer monster drops between level 78 and 95, sirenic scales will be dropped with varying levels of chance, the lowest from aquanites and the highest from the fearsome Ascension legios. Craftable by level 90-93 crafters and stitched together using unique thread from Ocellus himself, this is the first level 90 gear to be dropped by non-bosses and will include head, chest and leg power armour. It looks great too, so bow down to its awesomeness! Missing, Presumed Death Novice quest - members only This quest is something Ive particularly been looking forward to releasing into the game because it starts one of our most important storylines for the Sixth Age. It starts mysteriously, with a foul murder, cryptic messages and the appearance of strange - yet familiar - faces, but truly, this is just the beginning of something truly epic. Death - the Grim Reaper - has gone missing, and Icthlarin - God of the Underworld - is attempting to fill the void he's left behind. At any other time, Icthlarin might have managed, but there has been a massacre in the hills near Paterdomus Temple, east of Varrock. Icthlarin cannot hope to keep up, and the spirits of the dead remain tethered to their corpses. This is where the player comes in. Their first task is to find out who perpetrated this massacre. Then it's time to find out what Death has been up to. Has he been Deathnapped? Or is he taking a welcome break after the death of his god, Guthix? This mystery takes many grave twists and turns, and goes far beyond your traditional whodunnit. It's resolutely 6th Age, so expect several gods to feature as the mystery of Death's disappearance is unravelled. You'll get to meet and work with Icthlarin; engage with fully voiced, famous characters; explore large, graphically lush environments; and earn unique, high-level rewards and death animations! And Theres More! Woo woo, woo woo woo woo. If youre not wearing your ghostspeak amulet but youre rattling chains and screaming out for your Halloween fix this month, then head to Solomons General Store! Two new music boxes (featuring new iconically 80s zombie dancing ) head the bill, alongside two new costumes, one with a distinctly skeletal vibe and the other with a goth look. We're bringing the newly non-combustible golden chinchompa back from the great beyond and offering it at no charge for members, or for a small Loyalty Point or RuneCoin price to free players. There are also some new loyalty items available in the form of Battle of Lumbridge outfits and a general evaluation of Loyalty Point prices on the store, following your feedback. Wooooooooooo! Have fun! Mod Mark Design Director - RuneScape
  19. Well you don't see too many low level metagamers unless they already have a maxed/completionist account. :P Although, the information that would be useful most new players would be unaware of or would not necessarily apply to them as efficiency normally focuses on higher levels. EDIT: The reason I bring this up is because I was reminded of the DGS incidents awhile ago. More recently it has related to H&A or 200M all skills especially. From the posts I've seen here people seem to understand the difference but in the broader forum I fail to see why neither side could grasp the other side of the argument. In my opinion, it's because the definition of what is "efficient" is always defined by each side differently. It always seemed to me more of an argument between objective efficiency (reliance on math, statistics, research etc. aka metagaming) and subjective efficiency (how each individual feels is the best method). Obviously for some people the two coincide, they want the statistically proven method with the research to back it up. Whereas others, for whatever reason be it they find such methods too hard, too intensive, or boring or want to be able to feel "AFK" or engage in other activities at the same time. Then once you say the objectively efficient method isn't "fun" the whole statement becomes inflammatory and immediately makes people feel defensive. If you say a method is dumb/illogical you incite the same response, people feel defensive. While there were other issues that caused the mess it seemed like both sides basically overreacted trying to defend their point of view even though they're both right and all shall have prizes. Of course, everyone who responded already understood that so it must be that this blog is only frequented by people with both IQ and EQ. # EDIT2: This does have an interesting parallel to the current government shutdown in the USA.
  20. Dark bow and whip, how much is that in 07 right now?
  21. There's been plenty of discussion about it on the forums before I want to hear current opinion #
  22. Thought of the Day September 30, 2013: Efficiency vs "Fun," what is the difference and why does it matter?
  23. Same old same old it seems, congrats on the whip kill :P
