See, Korskin, I wouldn't have any problem with your reasoning with regard to marriage vows and the morality and things related to premarital sex, except you seem to be relying a little heavily on the vain hope that everyone will be good people at heart and adhere to an idealised set of morals. There is no possibility of everyone "being nice" and doing things like not raping their wives or lying about having STDs unless we go about using some highly unethical methods of conditioning people's minds in such a way that there is no possibility of them thinking anything out of line. So whatever argument you may have that postmarital sex is in theory morally "better", with the assumption that nobody will lie about STDs or assume consent, is automatically debunked by the fact that you are trying to apply this to our species.

And so what if I wanted to point out a glaring flaw without needing to pick apart every inane statement in that paragraph? Some of us have better things to do, most of the time. Like have premarital sex.
  3. Why would you willingly purchase a game that will essentially take you through a book and a movie you've already seen - or if it doesn't, one that violates continuity with a [bleep]ed rod?

People even want to insult you THROUGH me, that's hilarious don't you think? So, because you can't actually maintain a position in an intelligent debate, you fall back to the good old ad hominem attacks? Hilarious.
  5. Is that like SRC or whatever it's called? I know it has an S in it. SCA.
  6. Once a week I dress up in armour with a bunch of other dudes and we beat each other up with large sticks.

Nobody said that the Bible promoted those things, although as far as I'm concerned, it does promote incest, retributive genocide and homophobia. Of course, people may want to argue that the Old Testament isn't part of modern Christianity, but that's like saying Hirohito isn't a part of modern Japanese culture. That's not the subject of the debate, however. The problem with consistent faith that Astralinre points out is that if one were to draw up an opinion poll and restrict it to only people whose beliefs are strictly consistent with the Bible's is that it skews the data towards that demographic. By leaving it open, you get a broader sample of people from a region with identifiable norms, rather than surveying a tiny percentage of the population. Even if you just surveyed Christians, you would still get a broad sample, as it is inevitable that people have differing interpretations of the Bible. However, the common factor with these people is that they do base at least part of their moral compass in scripture, and thus you can draw solid statistics. If you restrict even these to just people who are strictly orthodox, then you won't get many, if any, statistics that would suggest anyone is deviating. This might all be a little confusing to some, but since I work in the market research industry - we do this sort of thing - it makes perfect sense to me.
  8. No sex before marriage? To hell with that, I'm 18. Biologically speaking, sex is 90% of my raison d'etre right now.

I rammed a pigeon while driving once. No bull. It flew down in front of me while I was doing 60. Wham, broken wings. Puny avian body meets asphalt and treads.
  10. I've realised that I would love telekinesis to pieces if Oblivion could actually allocate damage based on what someone is hit with and at what speed. Nothing puts me off more than hurling a war axe at someone at a small fraction of C and have it just bounce off him and shoot around the room like a high monkey with a pogo stick.
  11. Thread win. darkrick receives 50 exp and two internets.

Moral of the story, kids: don't be daft, cover your shaft.

I take it, then, that you haven't considered that quite a few people with more children than they can support are in their predicament because of that attitude towards unprotected sex?
  14. Other magicians get a taste of an arrow laced with Silence poison. =) Quick question, probably stupid: I haven't quite figured out how to poison food yet. Anyone care to illuminate me on this?
  15. Recently, I've taken to running around without any clothes on and trying to raise my unarmed skill against bandits. Nothing says "owned" quite like being punched to death by an angry naked man.
  16. Just arguing further for Kefka... He's the bad guy who gives you a huge reason to want to beat the everliving crap out of him when you can. Okay, so he's trying to take over/destroy the world, along with every other Final Fantasy villain. However, what you see throughout the game points to him being just about the most unpleasant bastard you will ever encounter. He poisons children. He uses a peace treaty as cover to abduct sentient beings and put them in test tubes. He's a genocidal maniac. He annihilates towns in firestorms for speaking words against him. On top of that, he's a clown. An evil. Clown. This isn't someone who wants to punish the world for taking his mother and experimenting on him. This is someone who has no personal grudge against the world itself, but just wants to take over it because he can. This is a character that the game doesn't give the player any reason to sympathise with. By the time you finish, you want to kick his arse so badly because he's a terrible person, not just because he's trying to destroy the world with a meteor. He's on par with Lavos, who makes you want to destroy him because his purpose is to eat worlds and spawn more things that eat worlds. They're villains that don't make you stop and think about whether killing them is actually a good idea, because they've got so many motivations based on problems you probably helped cause. They're villains you have no doubt in your mind that you want to beat up because they're bloody horrible, and there's no question that the world is better off without them.
  17. Yeah, I mean I had the chance to deck myself out in heavy armour and be a melee badass, but I wanted to go the Asha'man route and wear my black and burgundy outfit while swinging a katana and throwing fire all over the place. Your character's whatever you want it to be.

As far as I can tell, all that code fragment would achieve is close the program it runs as part of. For starters, it's assuming that the external process is Java-based. And how would it know that without illegally monitoring your system processes? Furthermore, what is preventing it from shutting down legitimate programs with similar names to programs it "knows" about? And you know what, that sort of thing could actually come under the descriptor of malicious software. Just remember, kids, this is the internet, I have a pet rhino, and nobody can prove me wrong, so hence it is true.
  19. When I play Diablo 2, I intend to play a game that requires little to no mental work. This is why I prefer playing the barbarian.
  20. Nobody said Kefka was a better villain because he was in an older game. Please refrain from trying to make yourself look intellectual with straw man arguments.

So... because rape and prostitution largely involve premarital sex, then premarital sex is the root cause of rape and prostitution? Okay, well, going by your hilariously fallacious logic, since cancer largely involves pain and suffering, then clearly, pain and suffering are the root causes of cancer.

Can someone translate what he's saying for me? Sounds like he's throwing a lot of jargon around to make himself sound like a programmer, but I'm having a hard time believing him. Because, you know, this is the internet. I could just as easily claim that I am a rocket surgeon, because there's no way you people would know otherwise.
  23. Since you're in Sydney... Hop over to the Masonic hall in Burwood if it isn't too much of a bother. It's about three minutes' walk from the station. Go there on a Monday night, after 19:00, and you'll be able to catch the friendly folks of the Barony of Rowany SCA group. Make it known that you have nothing against dressing up in armour and letting a bunch of muscular, bearded men beat the hell out of you with large sticks while vainly trying to defend yourself. If you don't lose any weight after a few weeks of that, then I would suggest something a little more extreme, like wrestling with a bear.
  24. I proclaim this thread to be full of awesome and win. On a related note, men, do not under any circumstances shave your sack hair, either, for much the same reasons sans poop.
