  1. Excellent as always, KC. I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll reveal a little twist with Sofia. :P
  2. The paranoia one is perfectly accurate. For the others, I'm not totally certain. High avoidance is very likely nonetheless.
  3. Bang on the mark. Fear on a large scale is mostly produced by the human imagination. For example, ever since werewolves became popular, more people started to fear wolves. Same with bats turning into vampires. The human brain is quite scary in itself. Except unlike bats and wolves spiders DON'T have a negative media image. With the exception of the black widow ive not really heard any bad stories about spiders. The movie arachnophobia is more of a comedy than a serious horror film. I always assumed the fear of spiders to come from when I was really young. Curious about things but not things that move fast or walked all over me. I don't like spiders because I was scared as a kid not because of the media's portrail. True. I've watched quite a few documentaries detailing the dangers of handling certain spiders, yet they always reminded the viewer that spiders, like most other animals, will only usually attack when they feel threatened. There have also been few movies that used spiders as villains (I can only recall a few). Spider-like beings even became super hero's. :P But media attention of course does not always play a role in initiating fear- everyday humans can spread fear amongst each other just as fast as the media at times. I'm actually quite surprised that the media have had less spider films than werewolve or vampire films.

  5. Depends on the type of maturity you're talking about. I don't like defining maturity by intelligence. One can have a fairly low IQ yet be amazingly polite, whilst a genius could be a totally arrogant snob. Cases like these are generally unlikely, though they do exist. Of course, proper parenting may also have an affect on maturity. If one is a bad parent, their child will likely end up being a troublemaker in an attempt to 'fit in' with the other children in his/her peer group. However, good parenting or not, school itself will have an even bigger impact on maturity. You could start out perfectly fine, yet your maturity may gradually degrade through the years, all down to peer pressure. Society has become far too liberal in my opinion. At my own school for instance, teachers are too tolerant of student behaviour. As such, there has been a rapid decline in discipline. It's as though we can do what we want at times. In the early teenage years, this is definitely not good, and may have been contributing to increased levels of depression amongst this age group. Stereotyping is a nuisance, yet you cannot fight it. I won't mind if the person is dyslexic or from a non-English speaking country, but if you come from an English speaking country, then there's no excuse for poor grammar at all. It just shows you can't be bothered to listen in English class, or use far too much text speak. It's absolutely ridiculous. Not necessarily. You could have excellent grammar, yet be totally ignorant of other subjects e.g. your mathematical skills are poor. In essential though, decent grammar is better for all of us.
  6. The Wise Old Man Thread has been closed and the new WOMDA forums have been opened. Only investigators that we know of may contribute. Looks like you haven't been reading much into it pal- the original WOM thread was, after agreement from the rest of the team, closed due to spam, and the fact that we wanted a more controlled environment (AKA the new forums). The discussion IS CONTINUING, and KCHughes is as active as ever in pursuit of the secret. By all means, continue to investigate on Tip.It, but please bear in mind that WOMDA does not support this in any shape or form currently. The thread was closed, and to us the Tip.It discussion of the WOM shall remain closed. Oh, and did you have actual permission from the creator of those banners/signatures, 1alebcay, to redesign them and use them for your own purposes?
  7. Continuously jump up on people from behind, scaring the daylights out of them, then point and laugh at their reaction.
  8. Let me just add that all current main investigators should replace the current URL in their signatures to the new URL of our chosen discussion area. Anyway, whilst it is a bit sad to see the thread go, it was generally necessary. We now have a more controlled environment for our hard working team members to share their ideas, without fear of huge levels of spam. By the way, thanks for creating this KC- this wouldn't have happened without your brains, imagination, and general gunslinger attitude. :P
  9. If so, he may have once controlled Morytania, but I think it has passed to the legions of Zamorak now. I think we need more information on Lord Drakan, as he's the current ruler of the place. Out of interest, was Morytania formed before the God Wars or after?
  10. ... what? Display 24, empty? Are you absolutely sure? Because Skeeran recently posted a picture of it inside the display case on the WOMDA forums. So unless something weird has happened, I think you overlooked it. :P
  11. Probably won't be able to attend the meeting, though if it runs over an hour then I might just get in at the end. I actually thought the swamps were Zamorak's domain, as Zaros' primary influence was over the desert. However, it has been untouched since the God Wars apparently, so some useful relics may be found there. If you don't mind, perhaps some of our Members should team up together to search the new land when the safe passage is built? It will be much faster I'm sure.
  12. Age does have a significant factor on maturity. In most cases, the child's brain has not developed intellectually enough in order to engage in intelligent conversation. However, some brains develop faster than others, so it is entirely possible for an 8 year old to have superior intelligence to a 32 year old, but these cases are in the rarity. Therefore people stereotype. Stereotyping a certain group of people is based on picking out the majority and focusing on it. It neglects the minority, thus causing different views to conflict. I'm 13, and I have little care about the stereotyping of younger children. In fact, it makes things much more interesting, as stereotypes allow debates to occur. Debating issues is fascinating (especially religion). It allows individuals to express their beliefs on certain subjects to either be agreed or disagreed with, in perfectly sensible conversation. Yes, there is the odd idiot who will bash an opinion, blatantly refusing to give constructive input to the topic, but this doesn't happen as often as you would think. As for having difficulty in conversing with younger children, I understand what you mean. I largely prefer talking to adults, who are generally far more mature than my own peer group. Actually, my peer group is full of blabbering, immature idiots who are unable to understand the difference between they're, their, there, your, you're, too, to and two. And to think, my class is supposedly the smartest stream in Year 9! Either grammatical standards are dropping to mathematical and scientific skills or people have simply gotten dumber. All I do is get bullied for having the intelligence to type 'you.' And yes, discriminating adults happens quite often too. RuneScape is a prime example of it, with things like "omg u adutl u to oald u hav no lif!" It all comes down to jealousy of the adult being more intelligent than they are. Didn't you just technically stereotype 5 year olds?
  13. The problem with that is that it would go against the WOM's Saradominist beliefs. If he wants to be a god, he'll certainly be trying to act the goody two shoes for Saradomin. He could possibly, however, use Maliginus to raise Arrav from the dead. If done in secret Saradomin would never know. I can't imagine how powerful Arrav was (and he did come across as being pretty powerful)- I can't imagine how powerful a dead Arrav would be too.
  14. I was just thinking- perhaps the robbery of the bank was merely practice? I'm not sure if we ever fully worked it out- there were theories he robbed it so he could become the King of Falador, so that he could obtain runes etc. But now I think that he used the bank as practice for his ultimate target- the museum. I believe that there may be something of great importance that was going to be shipped over to it, yet the museum did not have the amount of money to add an extension for everything to 'fit in.' This may have been included in things that simply wouldn't fit properly into the currently very small museum. Now, if the WOM donated a large some of money so it could be extended, they would be able to bring in anything they wanted, with no worry of size. Then the WOM would just sneak in and take what he wanted. So, why not practice on an easy target? The bank would be brilliant- he becomes a relatively good thief, and gets quite a large sum of money out of it- large enough to make a donation to the museum of Varrock! Of course, as to what that thing he wants is, I have no idea. Probably not the Shield of Arrav specifically, though maybe he'll pick it up on the way? Perhaps Armadyl was originally the god of life instead of purity, and Guthix created him and Icthlarin to act in balance? Zaros may have zapped out some of Icthlarin's power, thus giving Zaros control of the final power he needed to become as strong as he once was- death. By splitting Icthadyl (Icthlarin and Armadyl as a whole being) into two, he could have stepped in and took over the power that they had. However, unbeknownst to him, he was bound to Armadyl, so he unknowingly became Zarodyl. Then when he 'died' he found himself joined to Armadyl. Thus why they want to kill each other- life and evil aren't a great balance, despite Zaros being in control of death. Armadyl needs to be rejoined with Icthlarin for a proper balance. But if he's killed by Zaros, then that may cause problems, also allowing Zaros' army to rise. And Alebcay, I think they're simply too powerful to kill each other. Someone needs to influence the 'battle' between them- a certain WOM, perhaps? :P If the WOM sides with Armadyl and kills Zaros, then Saradomin will most likely be rather happy to have another 'good' god on his side. The only problem with that is that Armadyl is a form of Guthix, which would possibly anger Saradomin. However, I think the Wise Old Man doesn't know that Armadyl could be the god of life- he may just believe he's the god of purity. As to why Saradomin stated that Armadyl's 'alive and well' I have no idea. He's just probably stirring up false hope- he's a bit of a liar. :P I prefer getting fat men to beat him up, but shootouts are more exciting. :P P.S. I registered on the forum- username is 'Angel Eyes.'
  15. Trobigod, you do realise that by leaving, it just shows that the spammers beat you? I don't see the logic. :-s The soul runes used to be life runes I believe, then they were changed for RS2. As I understand it, the life runes had the symbol of a sun on them. I'm thinking sun symbol = death instead of war now. Ties in well with Zaros having influence over the desert. Curiously, Life is one of Armadyl's facets of power- perhaps the symbols are used to represent BOTH Armadyl and Zaros? It certainly supports them being the same god. And Randox, about the scorpion- not sure about it, but I think the symbol just towards the very bottom left of your third picture looks like one. I'm anxious for the museum update- as soon as it happens, one of us needs to talk to the curator and ask him if the WOM donated the cash sum. If he did, we can link him to the museum, and any objects in it (The Shield of Arrav, anyone?). Off topic: Did you enjoy it? :P 'Four for you, and four... four for me.' Hehe... er, wait a second. Four? And if there's one more spammy post, I think we should consider possible Mod actions (if it CAN be counted as spam, that is).
  16. I read the article, and I think I saw a picture of the Shield of Arrav. Quite interesting- we need all the information we can get on it. Unwise KC, you have now pinpointed your exact location. Mwahahah, the name of the grave shall soon be m- I mean, with us working together, we shall find the money. Sorry I haven't been on here much- having trouble balancing the OoC/exams/this. Don't worry, I've been keeping up.
  17. Well my dad has I think, so I'll try and glean information out of him. :P However, I had a quick search through the Wikipedia, and apparently The Scorpio Killer killed four people. There are also four sequels to The Dirty Harry series, the last being titled, oddly enough, The Dead Pool. Jagex are clearly stalking you KC. :P Actually, I believe that disease follows famine in many cases. Most people living through famine just don't drop dead because of a lack of food- they get various diseases that are linked with dehydration and starvation. Then they eventually die. However, yes- the desert is famine. Notice that most of the countries taht do have famine in them are extremely hot, ending up with desert conditions. Life is scarce there, and without crops, water and animals, there will be famine. Since famine is, as you've said, close to death, that is why I believe that gods such as Zaros and Icthlarin have a bigger influence over there. Thing is though, disease is also in the desert. I can see where you're coming from with the swamps of Morytania being linked to disease, as they are terribly similar to the Pestilence level of the Stronghold, and seem a likely candidate because of the ghasts and whatnot, but I think we should keep an open mind on the desert too. Or maybe all the apocalyptic tributes are in the desert- if you think about it, there's plenty of famine, lots of disease, and of course death. I'm not sure what would count as war though... the Kalphite Queen, maybe? Or Kalphites themselves... I mean, they do have ranks, which is similar to an army. Oh and KC- I'm all for that little chart being updated. :D It will also give a chance for some of our members to do a bit of... work! *Shoots Trobi's dragon square shield out of his hands* There's investigating to be done. :P But anyway, I do believe that they will be at the end of this month, just to annoy us.
  18. Right, I've had a look through Wikipedia, and found a few interesting things about our friend Scorpio. Notice that four and four make eight. Armadyl and Zaros both have these four facets of power which give them the strength and knowledge to defeat the other. And, since the four and four come together under Scorpio, who is one, I'm going to support Xewleer's theory that Zaros and Armadyl ARE one and the same. If they are two different personalities, that would explain why one would want to destroy the other. Let's think of the Stronghold as the mind of Zarodyl (just using a word to describe both Zaros and Armadyl as one)- if they are the same, then the battle would be going on mentally. The Stronghold could actually be Zarodyl's mind, with the both of them having a crazed fight to destroy the other, so one could be whole. It would explain the prison of Armadyl- Zaros could have overpowered Armadyl and trapped him in the darkest corner of his mind, but Armadyl managed to fight back and temporarily take control of Zaros. So perhaps they have half-split again, desperately trying to destroy the other. Pretty much sums up Armadyl and Zaros- one knows compassion, goodness, patience, and isn't cowardly, however the other is a plotter, killer, torturer and will always rise against the other to cover the world in their beliefs. It seems that the two sections of characteristics seem to conflict, yet they come form the same person. This is strongly supporting the Zarodyl theory. Now this is interesting. I believe me and Alebcay made a deduction that Zaros was breeding his own monsters, which were in the same likeness as him. He could actually be creating these things out of his imagination. Now, let's say that during the god wars, the two did split (as Randox said) during the god wars- if Armadyl placed his mind under the village and made it a Stronghold, what safer place would there be other than Armadyl's mind? I don't think at this time they knew that they were once one and had to split, so Armadyl would have thought that the Stronghold was virtually invincible. Then Armadyl of course lost the staff, and his power drained. Soon after, Zaros lost his power in a duel with Zamorak, and as such had to flee. Then they joined as one again. Zaros then saw the potential for the Stronghold (Armadyl's Mind), so then turned it into his own creation. However, as we've said, Armadyl escape. But still, Zaros was experimenting nonetheless, and now most likely has the strongest army the world has ever seen. The only thing Zaros needs now really is a physical form- and I think he will get that by killing Armadyl. If Zaros' mind is made whole, then he probably will be powerful enough to make a new body. Seems very apocalyptic to me- sort of also suggests that Armadyl's physical form isn't that of a scorpion. Firstly, why would he weaken Zaros' scorpions in the Stronghold? Secondly, Armadyl is pure- he wouldn't have these tendancies. Oh, and oddly, Taurus, the opposite of Scorpio, has a symbol that looks very like the one of an eye. The Death layer seems to be quite a strange one- ultimately though, I think it's saying that every god, no matter if they're bound in love and friendship, will always do actions that lead to death in the end. We might have to study that Anubis-wannabe-guy-whose-name-I-keep-forgetting-how-to-spell a little bit more. :P Off topic- am I the only one who thinks it's more than a coincidence that the accounts Blondie, Angel Eyes and Tuco aren't in the highscores?
  19. Right, me and alebcay have finished looking over the sections. Well, in Famine, we basically proved that the yellow flower was indeed Famine. However, we also discussed other things. The Zamorakian Mage near Edgeville that allows players to enter the Abyss could possibly have helped the mind of Zaros to enter the Stronghold. This mage could be a rogue, and conspiring against his god. We believe that Zaros may have offered the mage greater power, and so he fell for it. Now, Pestilence is very interesting. Over it, you will see green and red tendrils. The walls are also green and red. The skeletons littering the flour are white (whiter so than ones on the previous sections). We believe that in this level Zaros is making fun of the gods, by making it out that balance and chaos are one and the same and that saradomin is actually a killer or is weak. The new scorpions (which crawl over Pestilence) are purple, so we believe that Zaros is making himself out to be mightier than the three, whilst also implying that he'll put an eternal sting/wound in those who oppose him. We also had a brainwave about Armadyl. We believe that he may have a pocket of influence over the Stronghold. Here's how are theory goes- we believe that the spirit of Armadyl may have fled to hide in the Stronghold but was captured by Zaros and imprisoned. There Zaros tortured, humiliating, and manipulated him. However, one day Armadyl broke free, and tried to escape, but his spirit was bound to the Stronghold. It was then that Zaros realised that he should have killed Armadyl and taken his power, thus making him more powerful than all three gods put together. Therefore, Zaros and Armadyl constantly wage war throughout the Stronghold. We believe that Zaros and Armadyl's power is drawn from apocalyptic and anti-apocalyptic energy. So Zaros would draw his power from War, Famine, Pestilence and Death, whilst Armadyl would draw his power from Peace, Plenty, Health and Life. Thus, the treasure rooms are explained. Last but not least, Death. Over Death, we closely observed the bodies on the ground, and their skulls were of stereotypical aliens. However, we once again, had a brainwave. We believe that the Stronghold was once a huge underground fortress, controlled by Armadyl himself. Because of his power, the people who sought sanctuary there had nothing to fear. However, when Armadyl's staff was stolen, and most of his power lost, the Stronghold was open to attack. So, Zaros took his chance, and went there with a plan to plot his way back to resuming a physical form, so he could fully conquer RuneScape. He took over the place, and offered the people to join him. They refused, and were mutated into hidious creations. Once such skeleton interested me much. It was one of those alien skulls. But to my shock and horror, it had crab claws. Nope, it wasn't ribs (ribs have tiny fragments of bone jutting out of them)- they were curved crab claws. Just sticking out of the ground. So, we came to the conclusion- Zaros mutated them into a form similar to himself, only mindless and totally bent to his will. He's building an army, with the same strength as he has. All he has to do is kill Armadyl. Then he's free, an army with him. P.S. 1alebcay, if I've missed anything, feel free to add. I never thought of it like that- would make sense, seeing as Jagex is so fond of the number four. I have the feeling that this yet to come Seers Village quest will be the first in line. Or it could mean both events and years- I think we should keep our eye on both of them. As of now though, I'm not sure what flowers could mean- Dark, have you got any mythology on flowers for us? :P Good to hear! I'll look forward to you posting again. :D P.S. Randox, sorry, forgot you were in hospital. Hope you get out soon, and back to the joy of... searching for useless junk.
  20. Alas, alebcay already investigated there, and found nothing. :P I'll log on now though, and investigate the Stronghold with you if you're there. Sorry Randox, Paint and Photoshop are busted. alebcay will probably have to take them. Anyway, all my posts never make sense. If you can find an exact Swang Song and Stronghold release date, then I hope you don't mind doing the math and solving how long we have left exactly (preferably giving both dates and length of times). After that, all we have to do is work out which date seems most likely as to when the WOM will attack. In other words, we need more clues- some of which may be in a members world (yes I'm looking at you Trobi and Xewleer :P ).
  21. I've done a bit of searching with 1alebcay, and here's what we found. So far we've searched the whole of War and a bit of Famine. War is the most interesting bit. I found a pile of bones that formed a pattern similar to that of the eye symbol of the Falador stones (bone pile in Goblin section near entrance). Going on further, I found more eye-like bone formations. But most interesting is the two skeletons I found in (as I like to call it) Rangers Paradise. They were sitting back to back. But looking from a birds-eye view on them, they looked similar to crab eyes. I'm beginning to have a bit of a clue about Zaros- he's the empty lord, is he not? Perhaps they mean empty both physically and emotionally? Perhaps he is a creature with an exoskeleton (a crab?), making him devoid of emotion and body? Any research on Cancer the Crab or other crab-like gods/demi-gods/whatever would be appreciated. 1alebcay noted that his name alone may also be power itself, so he wouldn't even need a body. His physical form may have been worthless after all, and his mind is still out there, as powerful and intelligent as ever. Now, at the Gift of Peace is where it gets most interesting. There are four flowers there- blue, yellow, orange, and red with blue specks. I have drawn a logical guess and concluded that blue=war, yellow=famine, orange=pestilence and red=death. So far, the starting point of the famine search has confirmed that indeed the yellow flower equals famine. Now, oddly, these flowers don't look very healthy at all, probably because they are in the presence of peace- an anti-apocalypse symbol. Strangely though, war is not the most affected- death is the most affected. It's practically dieing- small, straggled, and wilting. 1alebcay has noted that he has seen no other plant like this in Runescape. How odd that death itself is dieing. Can anyone gather any conclusions from this? Also, 1alebcay has made note that the walls of war are ghostly and fragile looking- surely they would be strong? Well, we then remembered that the gates of the Stronghold are indeed alive. each one from each level is the master of that particular level. However, this begs the question- who is the master of the masters? Who is the Hades ('then there was Death, and Hades following close behind' or words to that effect) of RuneScape? Well, I believe it's Zaros. Yep, Zaros could very well be controlling the Stronghold, as isn't it practically an Underworld environment? Then again, who is the master of the anti-apocalypse masters (peace, plenty, health and life)? Armadyl? And now, for possibly the biggest part of my post. The most important, as a matter of fact. Well, probably- many of you may think it's absurd, impossible, or just downright stupid. But, it's probably the best clue we can possibly have to... When the WOM will attack! Yep, me and 1alebcay have (hopefully) deciphered an approximate date of when the Wise Old Man will start the second god war! It's pretty far out though, but I think it's the closest we can get for now. On observation of the Peace chamber, you'll count- four flowers, three butterflies, two heads (flowers) on the death plant, and one treasure chest. We have concluded that it is possibly a countdown. According to alebcay, the Stronghold of Security was released July 2006. It is from this that I believe we have approximately 3 years and 2 months to solve the case. I believe that since the Stronghold was released, Jagex started counting down from four years until they reached a date were they would release the WOM quest. July 2010 is our date. However, alebcay has said that Swan Song was released on May 2006- so that would mean we have 3 years to solve the case. So the WOM could attack in May 2010. These two dates are rather conflicting, and we need to work out which one is the attack date (for those who aren't spluttering in disbelief in our incredibly strange theory ). Well, either me or alebcay (or both of us) will get to work on the rest of the Stronghold sometime later. For now, I leave you to ponder on these new ideas.
  22. Sorry KC, I've been plotting how to mass murder every person who comes to this thread and doesn't bother to read all of it. :P Meh, I do end up lurking- I prefer for a brainstorm to happen then leap on it, as such. Anyway, I'm curious about the new colours of both of the Kalphite Queen's forms- green for ground form and reddish-orange for the flying form. Whilst I know she doesn't use prayer, it's a bit odd all the same for Jagex to implement that. Bugs are usually portrayed as black, however I think they used black for her because it symbolizes death. Why change to red and green? Why not grey or something? Interesting as the WOM does indeed mention her. And if this history update doesn't come by Saturday, I'll really be mad at Jagex. I want a good read, and am anxious to return to the WOMDA meetings. It's called the apocalypse, Trobi.
  23. About the museum- I'm thinking we'll probably see the shield of Arrav on display somewhere. If so, it might be interesting to check out. Who knows- we might even be able to steal it! Then we can show it to the WOM himself. Out of interest Xewleer, is there any possible way to track this man's path? Off topic: Due to the lovely temperatures outside, I have decided to change my avatar to suit the situation. :P
  24. We r teh uber p3wnzors!!!!! Well, Varrock being primarily Saradominist (I say primarily as it's sort of a mixed Zamorakian/Saradominist city), the people would be slightly disappointed that their king is part of a society filled with heretics. So I think we might have to wave bye bye to King Roald...
  25. flava0falcon- We do this investigation purely because we receive enjoyment from it. Your post could be considered discouraging towards our hard working team members, and as such we do not welcome posts like yours. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CURRENT THEORIES, THEN DO NOT POST! It's that simple, yet people fail to understand that. If the WOM can prove that they are heretics, then he may not even need to invade the Tower. He could just slowly bring them down from within, and would easily gain the favour of Saradomin. Also, if he acts like a good boy and prevents the secrets of summoning being further used, Saradomin will be very happy that the WOM prevented mortals from knowing how to do it. He could also be plotting to defeat the mourners in their plans to bring Zamorak back to Gielinor, which would further Saradomin's delights in the WOM's accomplishments. So, the Black Knights could just be a Plan B, or last resort. Oh and by the way, Dionysius' (the god) other name was Bacchus, so if that rings any bells, don't hesitate to put your thoughts forward.
