Just sent out an email about renting a house, hoping to hear back soon. 3 bed 2 bath for $910 a month, which is stupid cheap for this area. Like at least $400 a month less than most of the things I've been looking at. Plus a finished basement with a bar. 50-50 on whether its legit or its a scam.

My girlfriend is 19, I'm 23. Depending on personalities it isn't as weird as you may think. Although there are definitely some difficulties associated with that big of an age gap. It won't be that strange though, probably. Its a lot weirder to think about the age difference than it is in practice. At least that's what I've found. RPG, my grandfather has parkinsons and is 84. I definitely understand, it can be a hard thing to watch. Luckily he's still mentally sharp although speaking is getting difficult for him and during his bad periods of the day he's a bit out of it.

I did one of those fill in the countries online quizzes with my girlfriend like 2 months ago. I'll admit, it was more difficult than I would have expected. Most of Eastern Europe is a bit of a blur for me. I do however know exactly where Estonia is though. Every American child over the age of 12ish should be able to find Germany and France on a map though. The world wars are a huge part of history curriculum for late middle school and early high school, at least where I went to school. Even American History specific classes very heavily focus on it. I don't think Americans are necessarily any more ignorant than citizens of other countries, we are simply more removed from it. It's less of a pressing issue. For example, knowing the general location of Estonia isn't an unreasonable expectation for an American, but being able to look at a map and differentiate it from Latvia or Lithuania is essentially useless. That said, I don't think American education is by any means infallible. We could do with a wider world view being taught in school.

Started on my second week at work and I've still done nothing but package testing with no end in sight. Super monotonous. But I get $15 an hour to do it so [bleep] it. Glad I got a degree so I could inflate plastic bags and cut them apart with scissors. Really putting that $50k piece of paper to good use.

That's how I got my girlfriend.

Got a job. They didn't hire me for a full-time position, but I'm going to be working 30 hours a week. Pay isn't incredible either, but the goal is to have been promoted to a full-time position with better pay by May. I don't know if that will even be possible but it's what I'm going to aim for.

Got a call for a job interview today, my first one in the 8 months since I graduated. I feel pretty good about my chances from talking to the guy on the phone, but the interview is tomorrow so I have very little time to prepare. Which is cool, I've always done my best in stuff like that with minimal prep. I'd be starting as a lab tech if they hired me. Apparently they're a small company and looking to hire 2 or 3 people right now. This does put a bit of a damper on birthday drinks tonight, but the interview isn't until 3 so I can hopefully still go out for a beer.

My daily routine is that I use a cheap generic deodorant, usually called something like "fresh" or some similar bullshit. Not overpowering, kind of like a soap meets dryer sheets scent. Then a tiny dab of cologne on the inside of both wrists and both sides of the neck (basically right above the collar bones or right under the level of your collar). I have a couple different ones, my two main ones are called Stetson and Aspen. I like Aspen better personally but I've been wearing the other regularly for a few years. I've got a couple other scents, only one of note is called Preferred Stock, which I just think is hilarious. Also all super cheap. My basic opinion is that smelling ice is always a good thing. If you just finished working out or doing manual labor, there's nothing wrong with smelling like sweat. But take a shower after you're done and put on a little bit of smelly shit. My rule for scents is that no one should be able to smell you from further away than the distance you have a personal conversation at. If you enter a room and everyone in there can smell your cologne, you used too much.

I did it for a semester with my ex. We had been dating for a year at that point, so I think a lot of the shit that wasn't great would have started to come out around then anyways. But we were also sharing a room intended for one person (I had a single dorm room at school, she lived at home so she just moved into my room), which is far from ideal. Ended up with us fighting a decent amount and breaking up that summer (and getting back together and breaking up again and getting back together again...) I think moving in with a significant other requires a serious discussion beforehand, especially in a situation where you're both on a lease and don't have another place to go (home) if things don't work out. Obviously its not impossible to do though. Just discuss it first, and have a backup plan for if it's not working. You should probably discuss that backup plan too and agree on it. For example, agree that if its not working (hopefully before ruining your relationship) you'll move out to (place) and your significant other will find someone to sublet.

Tempted to make a thread for you guys called something like: "We're going to entirely dismiss each other based on locality because we're not mature enough to have a discussion but still want to have arguments on the internet" because honestly I'm sick of all this whiny bullshit. This post is like 80% joke, 20% salt.

I had a pair of Sennheiser HD 400 series a few years ago, they were great but I did a bad job taking care of them and they only made it like a year. My radio station uses the HD 202's, they're pretty solid for being fairly cheap.

Super unrelated to pretty much anything, but do any of you have any recommended resources I could use to learn music theory? Like from the absolute beginning. I feel like for someone who is as into music as I am it's a pretty big gap that I know basically nothing at all about theory.

The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There And of course it's on that list. I honestly didn't plan that at all, I was already listening to it when I clicked on this thread. (To anyone else, that's actually a really dope list for the most part. Don't get put off by the fact its through buzzfeed.)

I used to smoke between classes if I was hungry and didn't have time to get back to my apartment because it suppressed my appetite and was cheaper than buying food on campus. Speaking of, I'm about two months into reducing my smoking and it's gone pretty well in my opinion. It's worked much better for me than quitting outright has recently. I've probably only smoked like 2-2.5 packs since then, compared to my previous pack or more every week. Edit: Oh shit, my signature is broken. I don't actually know if I have that image file anywhere.
