  1. Like topic says - the Prayer skill guide doesn't mention the Halos awarded in Castle Wars at all. I guess it's because they don't give an actual boost to prayer when worn, but they do slow the drain rate for certain prayers. According to the Runescape wiki, the lowered drain rate is about 2/3 of the normal one, giving the halo an implicit prayer boost of roughly +15 for those specific prayers. Updates are also needed in the Items Database, where the relevant entries (which curiously link to the Prayer guide where they are not mentioned) do not mention any effects on Curses. RS wiki claims, supposedly with Mod Emilee's backup, that they affect "Sap Curses, Leech Curses, and Turmoil". I suppose that all 3 halos slow the drain rate of all Saps and Leeches since nothing else is mentioned there. I don't own a halo myself (I noticed this while debating whether I should get one) so don't take my word for the specifics. Here are the sources: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Saradomin_halo http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Guthix_halo http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Zamorak_halo Thanks! EDIT: I realize this is partly an Item correction, and thus has its own subsection. I felt it was mainly a Skill guide correction though, to which I didn't find a subsection, so I posted it here. Hope that's OK =)
  2. Maybe it's just me in a bad mood, but I didn't like either one (didn't give fictional a chance this week either, sorry). The DYK was really good though, nice! =) Wake Up!: It was just a meaningless rant to me. "Few updates have the ability to revolutionize the fundamental game strategy in RuneScape like a new skill." - Which is exactly the reason why they are released so seldomly. "All of the upgrades this year have made our tasks easier" - No. Stupid generalization. "Apparently, that new skill Ive been asking for is in the pipeline, along with just about every other thing ever asked for. Is the pipeline clogged?" - That's upgrade year for you. Did they ever say they intended to hire more staff in order to cope with upgrade year? No. Of course other updates take longer when their developers are busy fixing bugs and coding new add-on tools. WoW for a Month: What's the point of comparing if the comparison is completely biased? Clearly the writer is one who prefers combat. That's okay, but you could still mention what a skiller would find enjoyable in the game. You didn't even try production skills? The conclusion is very inconclusive. Although you mention personal preference (which should be the last line, for clarity), you then carry on talking about the costs. Basically it implies that everyone would prefer WoW to RS, it all comes down to money - rich players play WoW, poor play RS. What about rich players who love quests more than anything, would WoW still be worth their time? "there is much less to learn in RuneScape" - I don't know if this is true and I've never played WoW, but I doubt someone with nearly 14m total experience could know that for a fact. There are *many* things to know in this game if you want to make the most out of it.
  3. Looks like Stormrage has read Magma25's thread: http://[Please Use QuickFind Code].com/c=i5VIpaQ-5q8/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?15,16,28,59235851,goto,1 Overall, great articles and excellent idea, keep it up =)
  4. I'd like to see some info on the war spoils? They aren't mentioned at all in the guide atm, and I'm assuming they are the main moneymaker in this. Would be nice to know more about them.
  5. Just let me play: I never understood the "I could care less" expression. If you want to express how little you care, what's wrong with "I couldn't care less"? I mean, if you in fact CAN care less, that implies that you care at least a *little*. Anyway, I liked the article a lot, it was the only one I bothered to read fully. The others didn't seem very interesting to me, so I skimmed through them.
  6. I LOVED both articles (sorry I don't read fictionals). First one, while not really saying anything new, it was said very clear and I loved the structure. It's nice to be reassured that there actually is a point of it all. Second one was amazing. It was very well written with a sweet and personal attitude. I can't say I identify myself with it, I do see my character as an extension of myself rather than a separate being (despite my non-digitized name of which I'm proud, wouldn't have it any other way), but it was definitely an interesting read with good points. Blended well with the featured article too! Best one in a while imo.
  7. Quest was very fun in my opinion, like someone said above you can't expect a WGS every month. If you don't like it, try doing it without guides ;) it's a lot more fun. BUT, am I the only one annoyed about the herb pouch? What is up with letting us see it and not actually letting us have it? That would be awesome when slaying aberrant spectres. It could hold like 10 herbs or something. Awesome reward gone missing... WTF Jagex!
  8. I'd like a skill which requires actual skill to succeed in. Like logic puzzles, word games and stuff (Yeah, there are quests but I've done them... plus there are few challenging quest puzzles) instead of just clicking same thing over and over. It could be like an Intelligence skill, which improves your character in various ways... better magics, maybe? New psychic power attacks ^^ Wait no, that's prayer. OK I don't really know how it would be useful, but it would be nice with a skill that shows off skill rather than perseverance. Or both. We do have too few character improving skills anyway, it's like.... agility. What else? Summoning I guess. Sorry for not answering your question, I'm just brainstorming lol... maybe not completely off-topic :)
  9. Occasionally I see these threads/comments about Runescape getting crowded. Not with people, but with stuff to do. True, there are countless things to do, learn and improve on in Gielinor. I don't think examples are necessary, but the fact that I yesterday was asked by a level 96 what an Achievement Diary is does say a lot. It takes a *long* time to even understand how much there is to know, let alone to actually know it. The question isn't whether or not RS is getting too packed with content, but rather what would happen if Jagex suddenly decided it is? What would you do if we next Monday got a newspost saying that "the game is complex enough, there will be no more updates"? Are you dependent on frequent updates to enjoy the game, or would you happily settle for what we have? Would it even be a better game?
  10. I was hoping it would be trimmed after WGS, it being a Grandmaster Quest after all. Jagex almost never fails to bash my hopes... But... Since the QC requires all quests completed, letting a new extra hard quest "trim" it would basically just be a graphical update to the cape. No one would be able to wear the untrimmed version ;) This has been posted over 9000 times already. Not once on this thread though...
  11. What? Where can I read that? EDIT: nevermind.
  12. The links in this thread are safe, they lead to a runescape.com site. The ones in the PM however, lead you to the 700megs site. Check by hovering the cursor above the link and reading the adress in the lower left corner. EDIT: Removed them anyway to avoid confusion =)
  13. Oh and this dude registered 4 hours before messaging me and probably many many others.
  14. OK, I just noticed I had a new message here at tip.it, sent from "Polls": "Hello there, Tip.it has some great news for you! Jagex has announced a new Poll on their website to vote for the most helpfull and popular RuneScape fansite/forum. We would really appreciate if you voted for us! (Tip.it), otherwise, it is your choice. Here are the links to polls: To vote for us: [safe-looking link] To vote for someone else: [slightly different safe-looking link] Please take part in this Poll! both f2p AND p2p players can vote!" Now that is all very very sweet and stuff, except the links are fake, taking me to "runescapeloginapplet.700megs.com" After almost having typed in my username and pass at the site, I check the adress bar and get suspicious. For anyone who doesn't know (I didn't and googled), 700megs is a free website hosting service. Oh, and checking from runescape.com, the current poll is about the RS Official Forums. DON'T FOLLOW THE LINK!
  15. That's true, but on the other hand they have already been leaving it out instead of hyping for several months. It does smell like a surprise update to me, but as you're saying, who knows? I'll just try not getting my hopes up *too* much.
  16. no quests for 4 or 5 months good luck with that :roll:Where does it say no quests for 4/5 months? MA = Mobilizing Armies. Minigame, not a quest. Speaking of which, they didn't explicitly say that there won't be a quest in February. They just didn't say there will be... Clear difference! And that makes me excited 8-) I mean, not even saying "sorry, questers" or anything? I can't remember the last time a month passed and they didn't release at least one quest. That along with the absolute silence they have concerning the 150th quest - apart from a locked forum thread where a jmod supposedly mentioned he was excited about it, it's ALL player speculations since like September. It may be naive, wishful thinking. But my spider-sense says this quest will ka-BLAM upon us, and it will do so this month...
  17. Wow.. No quest in February. For optimists such as above, that means joy since it makes it more likely next quest will be epic/great/awesome/cool. But seriously, I've been eating my fingers in anticipation this weekend! How will I survive another MONTH? Agh... So weak. Need... quest...! BTW, has Jagex ever done a huge release without stating so in advance? In like, the last 3 years or so? I need hope. But yeah, 150 will be *HUGE* ^_^ Better get back to getting those last suckers to lvl 70!
  18. Re: randoms You're pretty much shooting fish in a barrel. As you're saying, everyone knows the randoms are outdated seeing as even Jagex admitted it. So why write an article about random events not filling their purpose? The topic makes it sound reasonable, that they have been "neglected", but the article isn't about how nothing has happened during the 10 months since the Jagex statement, it's just trash talking. Sorry for the rant, it's a good article. I just don't really see the point of it. And by the way, be sure that they will get updated in 2009, seeing as this is supposed to be Jagex's year of upgrading. \
  19. I gotta say the release of the Dragon Slayer quest. Since NPC's could only speak to one player at a time, a several screens long queue formed from Oziach's house, filled with people wearing full rune (not the plate, obv) following the person in front. I wasn't able to do the quest myself for some time, but seeing all those elite players (anyone wearing any rune armor was godlike in my eyes) really wow-ed me!
  20. I am of the opinion that "high" must come in relation to other players. Lvl 92 is roughly 50% of the XP needed for 99, yes. But only about 3.5% of the RANKED people in Cooking (for example) have achieved it. Which probably means way less than 1% of the chefs out there. To me it seems strange that only maybe 1-3 in a hundred players would be entitled to have their level called "high". At least make it top 20! My "high level cook/thief/slayer/etc" would for that reason come way earlier than 92, and very dependant of what skill it is (since most people do not balance their skills). Now checking the top 400k in cooking (20%) to see if my top 20 system seems accurate. It would seem that you need a cooking lvl of 71 to be called high at the moment... I don't know about that :)
  21. Although the sky seems like a good idea, I won't add it to this suggestion since I find it too distinct (lengthening draw distance, inserting a draw distance slider etc) to not be made an individual suggestion. It is, however, an interesting idea and I'd totally support it :) Would be cool to see a tropical wagtail in first-person-view against a blue sky =) Hmm, true... didn't think of that. But maybe the graphics team could use some extra work now with the completion of Summoning?
  22. This was also posted on the RSOF. OK, these are two suggestions for new in-game technics features, or something. 1. I think it would be awesome to be able to zoom in on your character. I do this for these reasons: * Easier, cooler and more fun to check up on how you and people next to you look * Ability to take more artistic and sweet-looking screenshots and videos * Easier to navigate and view "camera-fixing" places, such as mountain areas which lock the view in an unrotatable top-down perspective * Just added overall quality and class to the game * Camera functions hasn't been updated since introduction of RS2 It could work as a smooth one-step zoom, by holding a key on the keyboard for example. The camera would then move in on your character, so he nearly fills the screen (vertically, that is), still allowing you to move the camera around. It could also be a toggle function, meaning that you press a key once and the camera would switch mode until you press it again. Personally I think the hold would be more convenient. Another option is to make it a gradual zoom-in, accessible maybe by mouse-wheel. - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2. The first-person camera view (means viewing the game from your character's eyes)! This, apart from being insanely cool, is good because: * Added realistic feeling, whole new way to experience the game! * Easier (and again, a lot cooler) to inspect interiors * Invites to more personal and serious chats and clan meetings * Again, more variety and style to screenshots and videos * Could ease certain tasks such as pickpocketing * Makes a long tedious walk way more fun Definitely more of a toggle than the zoom, maybe a button in the in-game settings. The camera rotate keys should be restricted to match reality (you shouldn't be able to rotate to view your spine, for example). I'm very well aware that this might be impossible without a complete new game engine, but hey, all updates can't be game content, right? :) Post thoughts! Possible?
  23. Nope, at 51-60 thieving Plunder gives around 50-60k experience an hour, you should be fine :) It's a very well made guide, but to clear things up: KO'ing a bandit and double-pickpocketing him can get you (probably more than, but my experience says) 90k xp per hour from lvl 55, once you've learnt the technique. At lvl 65, doubling menaphites are said to give you 140k-or-so (not that lvl yet myself so I couldn't confirm. Referring to this guide). PP shouldn't get the upper hand until lvls 81+. Try it out before you flame it, because it's awesome.
  24. No-no more snowmen..? Well... That's a relief... I guess.
  25. That's a good idea. You might also want to mention that it's a reportable offense, according to m00finz's guide. (Yes, that one's about Hunter, but I'm blindly guessing the same goes for Firemaking) So just report their bug abusing [wagon] if they ruin your fming ground (on purpose...). Might want to warn them first though, just to be nice. Also, didn't tell you yet, but nice guide!
