  1. Okay, I forgot to mention...the ring itself is silver, with a diamond in the middle. That's why only the side jewels (sapphires) have any color to them. Dirty fingernail? Oh, I see. That scab on his finger. Aheh. I'll go fix that. Ummm, okay, until I get that fixed, just pretend the scab isn't there and make comments. :
  2. Okay, so I got hold of a better-quality camera, a guy with bigger hands, and I tried to incorporate most of the suggestions given me. I came out with a sepia and a B&W version of Wedding Picture Take 3 (Take 2 was even worse than Take 1, so I didn't even bother posting it.) The images are significantly bigger than before, so I'm just posting thumbnails that you can follow to the images themselves. B&W: Sepia: Better?
  3. Fighting the black knight near the Wizard's Tower with NO food (I was level 20-something-ish at the time), and then running straight towards the black wizards when I was at 2 hp left. #-o I had something I really was ticked at losing, but I don't remember what it was now. Oh, and making my rubies into rings, instead of waiting until I hit lvl 50 crafting--which is my goal anyway--to craft them into amulets. I misread the Crafting Guide and thought they would give more XP. Again, #-o
  4. I was discussing gaming with my friends in the university cafeteria, and I found out two of them played! They don't hardly get on anymore...one of them particularly because he's in the US Air Force now. :
  5. There are other games with similar camera options who still have blue skies with heavenly bodies in them... On-topic: The wind ruffles flags and standards, but never anyone's capes.
  6. It hurts my eyes... I mean, it's good work, but it still hurts my eyes...
  7. Good point. Primary language for the win! Well, Elvish being one of the primary languages. The other being the Language of Men (aka English).
  8. I concur. My dad was looking over my shoulder at the parodies when I started reading this thread, and he thought "Falador City" was a parody of "Suffragate City." I had to browse through this whole blessed thing before I found it was actually "Paradise City." Real titles are good.
  9. Hey, cool, I'm not the only one who can't leave a bone unburied! (There's a pun in there somewhere...I think I'll pass it up.) My fav thing is to train Magic, with Fire Strike. Black Knights or Moss Giants in Varrock Sewers, because there's rocks or barricades behind which I can safely mage. I probably could do better, but I have a Fire Staff, and I'm reluctant to use runes I can't RC myself just for training. (I'm F2P.) I also ALWAYS craft my own runes when I run out, so that leads to RC by necessity. Right now I'm training primarily Crafting, but also Smithing and Mining by mining silver and crafting tiaras. Any gems I find get made into amulets.
  10. Well, I don't know about the frequency of bans, but I do know one thing. Generally, people--anywhere, everywhere--think the rules are for everyone except for them, and will not let themselves be proven wrong. Read the newspapers any day of the week, and you'll see what I mean. Logically, why shouldn't this mindset extend into the RPGs people play?
  11. I did know that CS Lewis and Tolkien were tight. You know, now that you say that, I remember reading somewhere Lewis himself talking about the influence Tolkien had on his work. I'm not sure where that was...I'll have to go back through my resources and find it. Again, too, I know more about Lewis than Tolkien, so maybe there's somewhere Tolkien talks about Lewis' influence on him. It makes sense, though, that the Dynamic Duo would influence each other. Ok, consider my submission withdrawn.
  12. I'm probably going to get myself into trouble here, but I decided to join in the song-destroying fun. NONE of the links to Bubsa's mp3s on the front page work for me, so I can't hear him. I guess he's still moving them. Still genius, though, and I can't help but pen a few things myself. (Besides, I'm helping keep the topic bumped up, right? :-w ) I got beat to "Beverly Hills," but here's my version, for what it's worth. *2 cents clinks onto table* Members' World I didn't join when it was still Classic My slayer xp's still at none I can't inspect a farming patch and all my friends are level 3's I didn't go to Adrougne High levels never looked at me Why should they? I ain't nobody Got no gp in my bank slots Members' world (obby, obby) That's where I want to be Playing in members' world Members' world (obby, obby) Rolling like Uloveme Playing in members' world Look at all those members there They're all so decked-out and rich When they go into the Wilderness They get to raise their PK count I wanna play a game like that I wanna be just like a player mod Take a screenshot in Falador 'Cause I'm the next Zezima (Chorus) The truth is I don't stand a chance It's something you gotta pay for And I'm too poor Yes, I am I'm just a nooby Free-To-Play And I will always be that way I might as well enjoy World 1 And watch the members play (Chorus) Members' world
  13. So does that mean Six Degrees to Tolkien would be a valid game to play for the fantasy genre? (For those of you who don't get it, it's a reference to the game Six Degrees to Kevin Bacon. The premise of the game is you can name any movie or movie star, and in six steps, or under, you can connect it back to Kevin Bacon. Example: Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy was the voice of Donkey in Shrek. John Lithgow was the voice of Lord Farquaad in Shrek. John Lithgow was in Footloose. And guess who starred in Footloose? Kevin Bacon!) Seriously though, I would submit that CS Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia do not trace back to Tolkien. I don't remember who wrote which first, but I can't see anything in the Chronicles that go back to Middle-Earth.
  14. Interestingly enough, the first thing I got was "Did you mean Ceilidh?" Guess I've been spelling it wrong all this time. 1. A link to some pictures of bands at celidahs. (A "celidah" is actually a Scottish dance party.) 2. My profile on a forum for a webcomic I read. (I use the same username for a few other forums I'm on. Not the same password, though. : ) 3. Link to a post I made on above-mentioned forum. 4. Photo gallery of some family's trip to Scotland. 5. Sublink of above. A lot of other links about various and sundry celidahs. I did some more hunting and found out something interesting. As I said above, I always thought a celidah was simply a Scottish dance party. I found a message board though, discussing a newborn girl named Celidah. The general consensus on the board was that "Celidah" was a poor name choice for the kid, since a celidah actually is (a) like naming the kid "Disco" or "Dance Party", and (B) a celidah is not just a party, it's a party with free-flowing drinks. One poster remarked that naming a girl "Celidah" is like naming her "Kegger." If that's true, then all I have to say is #-o . Too late to change my own online alias now, but I guess that strikes that name off my list of future baby girl names.
  15. Sweeeeet. I was wondering how the distance between the string's starting/ending points between the pictures was going to be resolved. Looks pretty cool put together.
  16. Thanks, everyone for the comments so far. I'll admit the images didn't get the reaction I was expecting, but I could always use a little more humility. : And they're all good comments, too. Bit of background: The idea is indeed to keep things basic. The whole wedding is squarely at the basic side of the spectrum, partly because they have to work on an itty-bitty budget, and party because the bride really has a thing about finding elegance in simplicity. She hates scriptive fonts, though, so the font can't get much "scriptier". Maybe I'll see if I can convince her to try Vivaldi. in V2, the background's not a gradient, Cadbury's_Egg. That actually is the picture background, but (and this is the reason for a lot of the blurring) the camera does NOT take good quality shots. I don't own a good quality camera, and the bride wanted her hand in the pic, not a stock photo. So I put about a 9-something Gaussian blur on it. I did use a default pattern, though. I didn't do any brushings, either, just copied out some new layers using the Magnetic Lasso Tool and put a lot of "Reduce Noise" filter and some Gaussian blur on it. I also messed with the Color Balance and Brightness/Contrast to bring out the blue in the ring's jewels, particularly the sapphires. However, I know someone who does have a better quality camera, and I'm going to see if I can borrow it tomorrow. They don't live far away from me. Then I'll incorporate the other stuff and see what happens. Actually, you guys have made my job easier, because, as I said, I have to produce two different versions of the image. If I have a B&W image, and then a sepia filter in the PSD ready to slap on top, then I can have my two versions without having to create two totally different images! \ I have to ask, though, tripsis, what exactly do you mean by giving the hands a softer feel?
  17. My fiance and I both play RS. We'll often pm chat when we're on at the same time, and about every other time, I'll start typing too quickly and end up saying something on public chat I didn't want to say aloud. It's nothing gross (I never delve into the gross anyway), just something along the lines of "Okay, babe, see you later," or "I love you too." But when one says it on public chat in a bank with a bunch of strangers around... Awwwkward.
  18. No creature in Runescape ever bleeds, yet fresh blood splatters can be always seen in certain places, like some of the jail cells, Zamorak houses of worship (I'm thinking specifically of the one in Varrock), some areas inhabited by beasties... No matter how big a single item is, your invisible bag will always be able to contain it. (Mary Poppins would be jealous.) No human falls flat on the ground when dying. The hamster that powers the barbershop pole in Falador never has to eat, rest, or answer the call of nature. A human cry of pain is sometimes pronounced, "Wow." All humans laugh silently, and with a full, belly laugh. They never chuckle. EDIT: Another fact that occured to me: The sky is black, not blue. And there is no sun, moon, clouds, or stars.
  19. Only you, and the friends who care to learn it. Which can be very, very useful. Then again, you might have heard the stories about American Star Trek fans who go to other countries, can't find anyone who speaks English, but DO find people who speak Klingon...who's to say the same couldn't happen for Elvish? And for all those who are stating their opinion on where mithril and adamantite comes from, I'm only saying this once. Please first read the sources I provided on page 1, and then provide counter-sources to support your theory! It's no use stating a "fact" if you can't back it up! (I have learned that the hard way. :-w )
  20. I'm doing the design for some wedding invitations for a friend, and I need some c/c on it. I've been browsing the threads, and I can see there are some very good artists here, so I feel okay with posting them. There are two designs, both of which will be used. I wanted to do something different than your run-of-the-mill lace, flowers, and curly script, so I took a picture (as in, I snapped the photograph myself, not took an existing image) and ran with it. Here's what I came up with. Design 1: Design 2: So...anyone have anything to say?
  21. I have to say Stronghold of Security. Good place to train, and I liked the rewards. I also like the challenge of killing enough beasties to put together a skull sceptre. Though I lurv the Lumbridge Home Teleport. Saves me 30 gp each time I want to leave Karamja! (I know, I'm cheap. I prefer the term "thrifty", thank you very much. )
  22. Well, I have to say steel is my first favorite, simply because it looks the most natural. I like the way rune looks, though. No real reason, I just do. IMO, though, mithril and adamantine are a tie for the "uncoolest"-looking armor. I'm sorry, but almost-purply-blue just isn't right. And green makes it look like the metal is corrupted... :?
  23. Ah, adamantite. I was debating whether to talk about it in my last post. Adamantite (or adamantine, adymantine, or however you want to spell it) is a metal that waaay predates mithril. Although I have no doubts it's featured in D&D, Adamantite is mentioned multiple times in Old Norse mythology. In one tale, Loki is bound with chains made of the stuff. Lord_Gromit, are all the place-names in LOTR really Elvish? I would have thought at least the Dwarvish lands would have Dwarvish names. Not surprised if Man's lands have Elvish names, though, since the races are so closely related in Middle-Earth. Then again, I haven't even read The Simarallion, so that's just an educated guess. Oh, and I know that mithril is Tolkien's creation. That's what I myself am trying to prove! Did you see the post where I listed three sources saying just that and stating that the word mithril is Elvish?
  24. Although this is my first sig, this is not my first Photoshop project. I have a gallery on another website, but I don't think I can post that. Right? (I'm new. Bear with me. : ) Now, I can tell you what I don't like about this, but I'm also well-known among my peers as being obssesively perfectionistic, to the point where nothing looks right and I end up messing things up when they actually were fine before. So I need other opinions. Thoughts?
