  1. are you running service pack 1 or 2? Hopefully 2, you can check by opening your control panel, clicking on system, and it will say there.
  2. What size HDD anyways? Yes, that seems like a decent deal, custom made or is it pre built?
  3. hence the backup, and im sure there is barely any chance of harm that way anyways.
  4. if you plan on putting it to rest, at least give it a shot by taking it apart and looking around. Most cases you can pry apart if needed, but the result wont be to healthy lol..
  5. It's not really much of an extension anymore. Anyways, I prefer it over Ubuntu. The package managing utilities are much nicer. When redhat first came out, it was designed for servers i belive, but soon after they devoloped fedora for the normal PC. Now they are splitting apart, and fedora seems more popular over normal redhat these days.
  6. the drivers didnt come with an install file or anything? Try dragging them into your hard drive, there is a folder called drivers.

  10. Well, about half a year ago i bought visual basic professional for my desktop. But i have gotten a new laptop, and have been searchin for the disk and i simply CANNOT find them. So ive decided to go the alternative method, Downloading a copy. So i downloaded 2 copys, and both had the same error message "You must first rune the install shield". But which file is the install sheild..? Ive tried all i think may be close to it, and null work. Now as you can see, the Setup[Caution: Executable File] is right there, but after i choose a directory for the commen files it switches to the acmboot[Caution: Executable File], which thn says "setup is searching for installed components". Then it gives me the error and states that the installation was NOT completed correctly. Does anyone have any idea?
  11. Wow, thought i posted newtopic lol
  12. i would use linspire if you are a beginner. That seems the most user friendly, allthough ive never used it
  13. I know you can handle 1GB for sure, thats what my gramparents have in theirs and its the same modle. Thought it may be able to handle 2gb, it would be an overkill and would only slow down the processes.
  14. wow this seems intresting, ill have to try it eventually. Funny name though
  15. some places broadband is not available, like my house for example

  18. Im assuming that you have tried giving the laptop a rest over night, completly unplugging the power cord and turning the computer off, and if you havent it may be worth it. I would try taking out the stick of ram you installed because that *May* be the cause of the clicking. And your positive that ram is compatiable with the board in your laptop? When you do get the chance to start it up take a look at the boot.ini file, Incase you dont know its what loads on startup. If that file is right it is possible it may say operating system not found, if not a bad sector is a great posibility, which may require a new hardrive. If none of my suggestions help its because im not very good with laptop Specs, but good luck

  24. Well, i currently live in a section of town where the only options are Satellite or dialup. I have been waiting over 2 years for the town to install DSL filters on the phone lines, but they never have and im sick of waiting. I know most Satellite Providers are expensive, and im willing to pay $50 a month for a decent Service. After using dialup for so long i dont care how good it is really, as long as download rates are over 70kbps :P. Is there any other options besides satellite? If anyone could help me find a good service i would greatly appreciate it, and if you need any other details to help me find one feel free to ask me. Thanks
