  1. That's what the National Wildlife Health Center thinks http://io9.com/5727758/national-wildlife-health-center-determines-cause-of-blackbird-death Except it has also happened in places like Sweden... There have also been mass bird deaths in Italy, as well as thousands of fish dying across the world in a similar fashion to that of the birds. I don't think it's a coincidence, and the firecracker hypothesis doesn't seem likely. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12135380 I'm willing to bet that all the other cases are fairly common occurrences, people just either never notice or never hear about them. Have to be unrelated anyway

  3. Hunh? Do you mean to see the map or to see it first hand in person? Cause I'm Canadian and I can view the map
  4. If you're trying to lose weight, the bottom line is eat less. THIS DOESN'T MEAN STARVE YOURSELF THOUGH. Don't go skipping meals or anything stupid like that
  5. http://projects.nytimes.com/census/2010/explorer?ref=us Pretty cool, also under the "View more maps" you can look at the map in terms of income, education, some other cool stuff. Interesting to see how racially segregated some parts are, and how much freaking unoccupied land there is. I'm guessing a lot of that land is agriculture or desert or something though
  6. http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Bandos_chestplate/viewitem.ws?obj=11724 Even in the 30 day it's 20m+ But thanks everyone I'm camping at Monkey's in Ape Atoll praying atm so I'm using fighter torso instead >;P He means it wasn't worth the price, it isn't good enough to warrant 20M+
  7. There would be absolutely zero problems with a 16 year old going to the gym

Not necessarily. Perhaps you should do a bit of research on the faults of statistics. Look up correlation =/= causation. That would be a good start. So essentially you just place a hefty amount of faith in experts? It's literally impossible to take into account all of the contributing factors, ESPECIALLY FROM CULTURE TO CULTURE. Don't know where you heard otherwise. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Ok, I guess we'll end where we ended the last thread

Look at the research methods part of the studies. If you are claiming that capital punishment reduces crime, but there is no evidence (however flawed you think it may be) that the crime rates are affected at all by capital punishment (and this finding is reported on near every single study done on the subject), what are you basing it on? If it affects crime, there would be an obvious drop in crime or slow down in the rate it goes up that could be directly attributed to the death penalty. I'm aware there are many, many other factors, as are the people who do the studies and they account for them.
  10. You seem like your main goal in RS is to max out and get as much exp as efficiently as possible, which is fine. But that's not everyone's goal, hell I've been playing over 5 years and I'm just about to get my first 99. I just never cared about xp or getting high stats, I did whatever was fun the day I logged in regardless of how efficient it was. Different play styles, different goals
  11. Don't value them, make killing someone who has them just give you a chance at getting a PVP drop, not a guaranteed thing. NukeMarine, Jagex updated the vote page yesterday and they've added that: So maybe this means they're looking at things like claws and extremes and K-swords?

By the looks of it, we seem to be in agreement. My point is that statistics should not be esteemed as infallible proof, because of the simple fact that correlation does not necessarily imply causation. People would dismiss my rhetorical arguments simply because statistics supported their claims, so I decided to return the favor and point out how it is a blatant stalemate when all we rely on is "seeing what effect implementing the death penalty has on a certain year or country". (I made the mistake of directing that remark towards the wrong person though.) Unsurprisingly, there were mixed results, just as I predicted with statistics concerning something of such a controversial nature. You and I could discuss other aspects of death penalty, such as morality if you'd like. But as for statistics, I think we're on the same page. I don't take either set of statistics as infallible proof that "criminals are or are not deterred by the death penalty". But if you are saying x is effective, and there is absolutely ZERO evidence that it is, what grounds are you basing your claims on? What seems to you like "commonsense"?
  13. Knowing Jagex, that's probably how people will get Statius and Vesta and such stuff when the update takes effect. That would actually be something I think I could agree with.
  14. Sit ups are good - for your hip flexors. Some other stuff you could do at home are pull ups on a door and dips
  15. Ignoring the fact that melee is the only combat type that can increase max hit by wearing different armours. Boy howdy we derailed this 8-)
  16. Bloodstain replied to Noxx's topic in Off-Topic
I haven't even posted any statistics in this topic fyi. Pretty sure this topic is dead now, it's just going to be you and me arguing back and forth for 4 pages until one of us gets bored
  17. Feel the same way, also why should I care what an "Ex-professional" gamer cares? How is what he says more correct than what any other gamer says? Also why should I care what a made up insult means?
  18. Mages have definitely got more power since ancients and staff of light and blah blah blah, but the fact that melee can wear range armour and still be able to melee effectively seems pretty ridiculous to me. Especially since that [cabbage] won't fly if a mage or ranger tries doing their thing in all melee armour Even if a warrior has maxed-out mage def, it's still not enough to kill a mage, though. Nowadays magic can consistently defeat any opponent, regardless of circumstances thanks to miasmics and damage boosts Yeah mage is a lot better now. That was part of my point though. Them saying that jagex made the game and they did everything deliberately because they intended for the consequences to happen was pretty stupid to me. Them buffing up magic seems like they acknowledged and accepted that mage was underpowered and needed buffing
  19. Mages have definitely got more power since ancients and staff of light and blah blah blah, but the fact that melee can wear range armour and still be able to melee effectively seems pretty ridiculous to me. Especially since that [cabbage] won't fly if a mage or ranger tries doing their thing in all melee armour Sorry, where have I EVER complained about or said that 1 iteming is broken? It's a little stupid, but you're free to do what you want
  20. Yet you don't find mages politely asking for meleers to only come into the wilderness with a DDS instead of claws, do you? This would be a scrub mentality; asking for something else to remove something from its metagame because you know it's going to beat you. Like somebody asking 999fishy not to use Steel Titans because apparently being a summoning pure is 'cheap'. If you don't like the way Jagex have built the game, don't play it. There's a reason you rarely see mages in the wild. Jagex have pretty much accepted their triangle is broken and have tried and are trying to fix it. They didn't intend for melee to beat mage. Again, what limits am I setting here? e: Also, as far as I can tell your "scrub mentality" is some made up idea invented by stupid gamers. e2: I don't even know how you can take a person who uses the word "scrub" unironically seriously
  21. Except jagex [bleep]s up all the time. You think they meant for melee to be able to beat mage 1 on 1? Doesn't sound like much of a triangle to me. Or for people to be able to hit over 70 with one special? They can't really design things for both the wild and non wild, it doesn't seem to work too well Also, what limits am I saying exactly? Also, courtesy of tyrutu from zybez
  22. :wall: I'm sorry that you were too vague in your posts. If you haven't noticed the last few pages have covered quite a few topics
  23. I shall quote myself with the tl;dr about the article You shouldn't put limits when limits are not needed. So what limits are you talking about? e: making prayers unacceptable isn't putting a limit on it because it isn't "needed", it's putting a limit on it because no one wants to sit having a 1 v 1 pray fight with someone, both people never hitting above 20
  24. If it's Scrub as in some sort of insult, I'd rather not. I don't really care enough about this topic to educate myself either.
  25. What's interesting is what Jagex said recently So does that mean things like K-sword and claws will possibly not be allowed in the wild? I'm really curious to see what this means Agree with the chaotic too, although you should get some sort of drop for killing a guy using a Chaotic too
