"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
@Thus: sorry it came across that way; when I told you you might as well kill yourself I was just pointing out the hole in your logic, and your reply felt like you didn't really want to help yourself (which is why I later spoke of improvement). I also really wanted to make a Godot joke and sound smart. I might have made some generalizations, but you can't give up before you give it a shot; for all you know you could be one of those for whom it does work. It's a situation kind of like Pascal's Wager, you know?

That's an improvement (sorry about your belt, by the way). 7 isn't really an issue, since it's not like you go up to girls and tell them you have a nice car and they just drop their panties. Your personality is definitely more important. 9 is a groundless fear. Neil Strauss was 30 before he got anything done, as it were. 10 could be an issue, but I'd argue it's something you can do without. On a side note, starting to dress well isn't some kind of treason of your identity; it doesn't have to be a chore. 11 is something I can't relate to. I don't understand the taboo behind sexuality, but I don't know where you're from or how you were raised. At any rate, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. 1: same goes for absolutely everything. 2: a little vague. 3: Are there people in similar situations who have girlfriends? If they can, you can. 4: Hang around people who are good at holding a conversation. You become what your friends are. 5: Same issue as 3, right? 6: Again, hanging around good people is a good cure for trust issues (witnessing more touching events such as Nox's would likely change your mind). Besides, you're sacrificing happiness for security. 8: [bleep] your parents.

Good luck; hope your belt doesn't break.

Might as well kill yourself right now then.

"Buy less buy better" is a form of anti-consumerism. Better off buying one pair of 150$ shades than 15 pairs of 10$ ones.

The leftover oily newsprint makes a great fire starter. Edit 2/2012 The boots still keep out the wet. The mink oil draws the leather dye out, can be seen on light coloured pants cuff."

I'll probably get a new pair of desert boots I can only wear leather at work though What do you do? This makes no sense. Maybe you could buy blundstones and use a ton of mink oil on them.

So long as the sleeves aren't super-wide (nor super-tight), short sleeves are okay, but I agree that long sleeves rolled up look nicer. @jimmy: Get a pair of rubber boots and a new pair of desert boots?

Cool. I'll probably buy some basics from Cottonwork if I ever get around to measuring myself; apparently their fabrics are near-bulletproof.

Quit fronting, the name changes happened in August.

About time eh? For the other shirts, what made-to-measure company did you go with, and how's the fit?

It's got to have some type of marketing purpose, right? I mean how could you keep this up long enough to get that big a response yet not get sick of it? [edit] You're not volunteering at children's hospitals anymore?

OK what's up with those? I don't understand why you would do this nor why you would like the comment.

Not my kind of music at all; too many effect pedals running at once... Pretty much the same thing throughout the song, too. I give it a very personal 5/10.

Not a fan of the song in and of itself, but the juxtaposition of genres is a nice idea. 7/10. [hide]Pretty sure they're on tour in South Asia right now. I played this at my school's annual talent show, it didn't go well because one of my strings broke the day before and went way out of tune during the show. We also hadn't practiced enough but that didn't show through too much, we got through the odd time parts just fine.[/hide]

You do realize there is a contradiction inherent to this statement, right? You want to look like you don't want to look like anything. It would be more accurate to say you want to dress the way you usually do, which is the way your friends know you; what this projects (probably and according to you) is a down-to-earth, unpretentious personality. There's no way not to say something because of the way you dress, and therefore there's no way you could ever not care about the way you dress. In general, I think it's actually quite ridiculous to pretend you don't care what other people think of you--if anything, you don't care what people other than your friends think, but you definitely care about what they think. Formalwear is black tie and white tie. I don't think you would wear patent leather shoes oxfords (or worse, opera pumps) all the time. There are pretty much no variations in those dress codes, especially white tie.

I don't think it's fair to say you don't go out of your way to have a certain look. If someone replaced your entire wardrobe with formalwear, you wouldn't just throw on whatever is lying around. You do strive to look like your own self.

My bad. At that age I was already trying to fit into the skater crowd though.

If you soak them every once in a while they are like regular jeans, minus the washing machine damage. @Bonez: if you don't see the point in dressing well you're missing something...

^For decades at a time? Do they still look good? Talese's jacket looks the exact same after 29 years (and shoes look better). @fast: if you take care of them the salt won't get at them, especially shell cordovan. You can use a spoon to press down the welts that you get when your shoes get soaked, too.
