"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Muggi, I think even if there's no commitment there is still an issue. Her self-esteem is the problem IMO. If he calls it off now she'll probably connect some dots and feel like having been raped is a big turn-off, possibly more so than before. Admittedly this isn't really Low_Levelled's responsibility, but he could take one for the team and try to get over it. I find it strange (I'm not trying to accuse you of anything) that what you don't comprehend is how someone could rape someone else. That would be about the "someone", not the "someone else". Doesn't seem to be the crux of the issue. How did this come up anyway?

Desktop won't turn on
No new hardware, plugged into an extension cord. I don't know what you meant by plugging my computer into the tower, but when I plug the PSU to the extension cord I get no light on the mobo. I've taken out the ram stick, unplugged the drives, but I'm afraid to break something while unplugging the graphics card. The USB ports seem to just be metal boxes. Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

@j_j: the power button was working before though. What now? Do I call the pros?

Desktop won't turn on
I unplugged the USB tablet and tried booting. Nothing interesting happens. I can't check if the fans are turning, since the computer won't turn on. IIRC when it still did nothing happened. When I tried plugging headphones into the soundcard jacks, which typically makes my computer have a short existential crisis, I heard a hard drive spinning over the blaring air conditioning, but I'm quite sure it's from the computer I'm using right now, not the comatose one (she'll wake up, right? :( ). I only have one stick of RAM in the computer, but I have another laying around. I'll try booting with it instead tomorrow, because it's late and as you can see it's taking a toll on my mind.

Desktop won't turn on
Tried to use my computer this morning. It was still on, hadn't turned it off. Monitor showed no input screen, which is normal. Shaking the mouse and typing didn't wake it up though. Keyboard and pen tablet showed no light, so no input presumably. No beeps. Turned it off by pressing the power switch for a couple of seconds. Turned it back on. No use. Did some research, mostly came up with PSU/mobo issues. Suggestions were to turn off the tower from behind, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and to try again. There was a red horizontal slide thing at the back of the PSU which I toggled a couple of times. No switch at the back of my tower so I unplugged the power cable. Now it just doesn't turn on at all. There's a green LED at the back of my PSU. It's lit. What do I do? The computer in question is 6 years old. I'm not too worried about the files; most of the important ones I can find again (my music library is on last.fm, it'll take work but that's not too bad) or are on Dropbox, assuming I can't slave the drive as I've seen suggested. I do have some software I was planning to use in the near future on there; I'll probably be replacing it soon, so really costly repairs are probably not really worth it. While I'm on this topic, do laptops have the same shelf life as desktop computers? Thanks in advance for your help.

What he's saying is it could do with more volume, but I assume that's not possible. Thus buzz cut.

I don't understand, she should be the one freaking out about it if anything, not you. Is she insecure about it?

Sure do! Is the patch still active? [Edit] As in if I go to the patch on world 7, will I find anyone there?

No and no, unless you couldn't turn off your phone (alarm etc).

Even when it comes to casual shoes you're better off spending a little bit than a lot in the long term. Gets truer as you get older and stop wearing skate shoes and such though--I can't see a 14 year-old wearing penny loafers to school.

http://www.arrowmoc.com/2.html Not cheap, but they're made to last, as is not the case with Vans or Toms. They can accommodate whatever width your foot is (it's in the order form).

That looks best. Why don't you stick with those, or with a similar style?

I think dark tortoise looks better on you than light tortoise, and thin frames are nicer too. I agree with Faux though, something more rectangular would look better IMO.

No, I'm near-sighted and cross-eyed, I think. The issue is just that what I see with one eye doesn't really stack with what I see with the other.

I used to be cross-eyed, had an operation done, but now I'm starting to become cross-eyed again but in the other direction, though you can barely tell. If you have a similar issue, don't get one single contact lens, it's confusing as [bleep]; buildings start rotating and stuff when you blink. Sort of. Donating to help Palestinian orphans is only a little bit disturbing.

Tim, you can't buy everything you like and expect it to fit together. Doc Martens are the antithesis of a tweed jacket.

It's true. I got 70 Range the other day, for no real reason. And it was fun and boring simultaneously.

Is there a God?
The idea that the existence of deities can be tested empirically is ridiculous; absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I am. I think a lot of the good looks comes from the higher waist on trousers.
