How did it become a FAMILY heirloom in the first place? It is still a FAMILY heirloom, just pass it down to your future kids and it will actually have fresh meaning, possibly making it more valuable to your family rather then if your friend had given it to her child. How am I suppose to answer that, its not my heirloom..LOL! A FAMILY heirloom is something that stays in a FAMILY not to be given to friends. Lets say great great great great ( you get the picture) worked really hard to save up for a diamond ring to give to his fiance...he then gives it to her, they marry. Daughter #1 ( or son if there is no daughter) is getting married, they pass on the FAMILY heirloom to the child. It then goes from their marriage to their children and on down the line it goes. If it was a true family heirloom( which I dont think it was or it wouldnt of been given to the said person who gave it to their friend) and one of my children had it ( which they wouldnt until they were at least 18 anyhow) and they gave it to one of their friends, oh there would be hell to pay because it was a FAMILY heirloom. I have a ring coming to me from my mother in law but I wont get it until she has passed away, I probably will be in my 50's or 60's by then but I sure as heck wouldnt give it to a friend or want anyone else to give it to a friend...thats the whole point of an FAMILY HEIRLOOM. Wow that was long but my point is I dont really think its a family heirloom or they wouldnt of given it to a friend( then it wouldnt be a family heirloom) I think it was just a made up story. :-w :-# Maybe you "younger" people dont understand the true "meaning" of a heirloom or something, not sure..lol For the other posters, yes they stated the person liked thier brother......

Everyone keeps commenting about the fact that the class was left alone for 15 minutes...SO WHAT??!!! They are 5th graders, not First graders......they cant be left alone for a few minutes?? That is sad when something like this happens and the first thing that gets attacked is everyone BUT the people who were doing wrong. When I went to school we were BEHAVED, we had manners & morals, there wasnt half this crap going on that goes on now in schools. ( Heck in 5th grade boys still had cooties :-X :lol: ) Those children were old enough to be left alone for 15 minutes, its not the teachers nor the schools fault in this. The kids were wrong period & the parents, my god they need to learn how to be parents. Flame away but just remember this is coming from a PARENTS & Adults point of view not a childs point of view ( we all know that most children are right no matter what anyhow :-w )

I'm not going out with her! All the more reason to give it back then. Just explain that you cannot accept it as it was a family heirloom, she needs to save it to pass it on to her future children just like it was intended...unless of course it was just some story she made up to make you feel special/ to get you to like her more ???

Does her family know? She really should save it for her children and keep passing it on down the lines...not saying your not special or anything but its a FAMILY heirloom for a reason.

Giving birth to 2 large babies with no pain meds :shock: ( the other two kids I got smart and was drugged..lol) Did I win ??? LOL!!!! * have had stitches in my nether regions :oops: * wisdom tooth pulled and then had dry socket for 2 weeks ( Dentist slipped while taking the tooth out and sliced my cheek so I got stitches there as well * root canal ( actually it wasnt that bad at all ) * Migraines every month And probably the worst pain I have ever had was when I let a sinus infection go and it spread to my brain( no jokes please...lol ) and I ended up in the ER with a dr screaming at me that I could of killed myself #-o :-w Oh and forgot to add that reading this entire thread was pain as well :mrgreen:
