Those "Holy <beep>" moments in gaming... [possible spoilers]

Oh no, you are bragging :P Nah man, if you wanted to hear bragging it's that I had the highest healing done in a scenario out of any warrior priest in the game, I think. At least when I posted the SS no WP could one up me. ;) And our guild really did have no competition. The only thing destro could do is zerg us and chain disable (stun basically).

No, Lineage II is better than runescape. I can understand if you barely played it, but the PvP in the game is phenomenal. Until you've been in huge clan wars between clans or even alliances you have no room to talk about the game. It's a very korean style MMORPG but it has some of the best PvP out of any MMORPG. Runescape isn't even in the same goddamn league as it (or any other MMORPG worth it's salt for that matter). There will be very minimal RWTing, and I'm sure the dev team won't give a [cabbage] about scamming. At least if they're like CCP from EVE, scaming will be part of the game. If you lose gear than too bad for you. I'll tell you this that the dev team isn't going to baby around people. you still don't get it. Gear is not going to be a huge deciding factor in the game. It is not going to be like in WoW where you have guys who have crazy T6 epics while the bad players have random blues. There will undoubtably be varrying levels of gear, but the good PvPer will know not to run around in their best stuff. The good PvPer will also be able to kill much, much more players than he has deaths. Will easily be able to gain a stockpile of gear and loot so that when you die it won't be as big of a deal. You accept it, and go on. If you find the concept of possibly dying a lot in a day, possibly losing your gear and open PvP unappealing then this is just not the game for you. Also, as I said before, this is going to be a difficult game to try and get people to understand there is more to MMORPG's than the everquest model. Really, there was more to Ultima Online than a simple linear gear progression grind.

Good players aren't going to die easily. And this is exactly my point. It is not a casual game , it is not for casual players. And I'm 20? :?

Yeah. I'm probably guildless for a while though, no guild can beat how great my WAR guild was. Too bad I got bored (and several of them were too). Totally not bragging but we honestly had almost no competition on our server. Just [bleep]ing raped face.

Why didn't anyone tell me glyphs made your character seemingly so OP? I mean, 60% heal alongside with evocation on my mage? It's nuts.

After Christianity: what will be the next big "Religion"?
With improvements in science being made seemingly every day I don't think there will be a need to try and explain the unknown, as it will be known.

Well, a good MMORPG should be more of a living of your character than the advancement of point A to point B. That was what it was like in Ultima Online. There were goals (get levels in skills) but it was more about the exploration, the people, ect. It is the same reason why I loved Lineage II. Sure, a lot of the game involved killing thousands of monsters -- but the real game was all about the Guild vs Guild drama and politics that came with PvP. Anyways for the record I am still skeptical about darkfall. I do hope it does well however.

I should have said a good MMORPG, sorry. :P

Their major influences are from Ultima Online. Having played it before I can tell you gear was not terribly hard to get. Sure, it did sting if you died and lost some nice stuff -- but we're not talking about losing a bunch of raid epics or something. This is the game Darkfall is drawing it's influences from. It's also a game that, sadly, had a better kind of gameplay model than Everquest -- yet everquest was much more popular amongst players. We really have not had an Ultima Online inspired game ever since the original's launch. You like Runescape because it is the only MMORPG you have ever played. There is more to an actual MMO than just running around killing (which, in runescape consists of right clicking). Perhaps actually try and go out and play other MMORPG's because, trust me, runescape is not a good game. It is a game designed to entertain the 13-15 year old range and then may pull in a few older people purely because they enjoy the convince, or just don't want to play another MMO. But if I remember you are only like 13 Ray. I really am not sure if you would enjoy Darkfall because, if it is going to be anything like Runescape, it will not be a friendly game. There is no teleporting from a fight or just outright hiding from PvP as it is everywhere.

Except that runescape doesn't have good gameplay. For christ sake, look at the game I'm comparing it to (Ultima Online). [Graphic wise] And like I said, gear is not going to be difficult to get -- the same as Ultima Online.

You don't keep your stuff when you die. What's with the comparisons to runescape? This game is going to be nothing like it. As I said before though, the only game you can really compare this to is Ultima Online. Pretty much all of the MMOs up to now have followed the Everquest model, so this is going to be something different. Not gear based, for one.

Dual Monitor + WoW + Question
I see where your coming from but keep in mind he will have to run it in window mode to do stuff on the other monitor. 512 video ram is still more than enough. [cabbage], I can run 2 or 3 copies of WoW at once with a 9600GT 512MB.

Yeah I am, on Nadril (mage). I have. The problem was that I was in the best guild on the server and, honestly, we didn't have much competition. Eventually any fights we did would just turn into destro zerging us and it wasn't any fun. I still think that WAR is much better than AoC and that Mythic are great devs, I just don't know if it was for me. So for clarification I'm not saying WAR is a bad game by any means, I just don't think it was my kind of game.

Great post. I was toying around with the idea of making this last week but ultimately my laziness overcame. The only thing disappointing is that the Jan 22, 2009 is the EU release. Not sure when the North America release is.

I try to get out, they keep pulling me back in! Yeah, something like that. I just wish there were more MMOs out there that were more stable and had the kind of content WoW does right now. Still there are a few on the outlook I'm interested in. Oh well, it's kind of nice getting back into the leveling thing again. As I said before I'm doing a troll mage and my friend is a BE priest.

Any RPG PC gamers out there?
Also System Shock and System Shock 2. Maybe more FPS than RPG but it's a good blend between the two and both incredible games (well, haven't played the first yet) [edit] And Planetscape:Torment.

Any RPG PC gamers out there?
Agreed, except get Neverwinter Nights (1), and not the second. #2 was just horrible compared to the first. Baldur's Gate II was one of the best RPG's I have ever played though.
