  1. Well, I didn't install it, it's on a USB stick... I guess that's the Live Disc (Slowly piecing this out after I've applied it).
  2. I installed Ubuntu, and the file opened up perfectly, and was easily deleted. Permanently. Oh, and Linux seems nice. I think I'd use it were it more day-to-day compatible... Thanks for the help!
  3. If I use Linux to try and delete this folder, Ubuntu would be fine, no?
  4. Also keep in mind that buying prebuilt means that you have a pretty good warranty for the computer as a whole should something go wrong, whereas with a prebuilt you'll have little to no warranty. I suggest a prebuilt. There's no reason for you to build your own.
  5. You don't want to do that. Per the manual (or 'chkdsk /?'), /f fixes errors rather than simply reporting them. Oh. Well, then maybe I'll try that.
  6. My Radeon 5770 runs great for everything I've put at it (medium-high settings), but I don't play RS anymore. I did sign on once recently, and iirc the images took a bit to load, but ran very smoothly. So maybe it is optimized for nVidia, but idk for sure. Also, what else do you plan to run? If you're just going to be playing RS, then you don't need to spend $200, methinks. PS. I'm almost certain that Intel cores run nVidia graphics smoother, and AMD with ATI. Cross-producting and whatnot. But again, I'm not an expert. I just like to bring these things up. EDIT: ATI is a sub-company of AMD (they actually refer to the GPUs as AMD GPUs now), so yeah.
  7. I've run the chkdsk utility multiple times, and I did one earlier today as well. Unless this is something different, I think I'm covered. Also, I assume /F should be C, or whatever corresponding drive. If it helps, I think this particular folder may be empty. I'm not sure how it would make a difference, or if that's just a result of being corrupt, but highlighting it says that it has no contents.
  8. Speaking of zombies, I got to round 14 just now all by myself =D (I don't have many headset friends (ps3) and I don't really prefer chat online) It's a very much higher record. I felt like a boss.
  9. "[filepath] is unaccessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." It used to give me an error code to refer to (0x80070570), but I deleted Steam in a thoughtless effort.... The files (all the Steam files) are still there, however (but not Steam).
  10. Lockhunter didn't work - there was nothing locking the file, I simply just can't delete it. Also, I'd prefer not to install Linux just to deal with this...
  11. Well, it wouldn't delete in Safemode. I suppose Lockhunter is still valid, so I guess I'll try that soon. Error code: 0x80070570 Oh, and the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool isn't supported by Windows anymore, so I don't think I'll use it... It seems like it was more for getting rid of certain things, anyways.

    Today...

After two sick days, we have a snow day. There doesn't seem to be much snow, however.... But I still have to shovel the sleet from my (long) driveway :-|
  13. Worked for me when I had a similar problem.
  14. Isn't that just ambient noise? Sounds awful to me... Anyway, I finished The Children of Húrin by Tolkein, and now I'm starting on Watership Down by some different person (Richard Adams). [hide][/hide]
  15. If I can just go to safemode and delete it, wouldn't that be the simpler option?
  16. One of my files in Steam is corrupt and unreadable, and has been causing a few minor-as-of-now problems (Battlefield ignores the "do not show again" for the CD key, and more importantly, I can't do a system restore). I can't simply delete this file, but I need to get rid of it. How would I do so? Also, Windows Defender is turned off and won't turn back on. Could this be related?
  17. Watched Jackie Brown on my sick day. Not Tarentino's best, but still really good.

    Today...

Got to stay home today thanks to strep throat. So woohoo I got to have a massive headache and do mostly nothing, and I'll probably do the same tomorrow.
  19. It's a drama, but it has a sense of humor... there are a few stand out funny parts. Saw Black Swan today. It was good, but i feel like I missed something while I was watching it, and it held it back (for me) from being great... and my friends were being sorta loud/immature...
  20. True Grit and The King's Speech. Both were really, really good. It's been a while since I've seen really good movies - especially in theaters (I normally end up missing them, then never seeing them - something to change, I think). Tomorrow or Thursday I'll probably see Black Swan, as well. May be a girly theme (ballerinas) but damn do I love mental breakdowns.

    Today...

My meet was actually at 5:30. All my rage and self pity was for naught.

    Today...

Supposed to be at a swim meet, but the person I asked to give me a ride never showed up. I don't like people.
  23. My dad's concerns (and he's the car person) are: a) The rebuilt/possibly custom motor. b) It's Japanese (different than U.S.: costs more to repair) c) May not be the most reliable. ...Doesn't really affect much in terms of this thread, but that's just to keep in mind I suppose. Thanks for the replies!
  24. Someone at work told me that they have a friend (who's a mechanic) who's selling a standard 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a rebuilt motor for $2500, right around the time I'll be getting my license. I was wondering if any of you knew much about it, because I'm not a car person at all, and I'd like some extra help. Yes, that's all the info I have as of now, but I'll try and get some more (assuming that it shouldn't be avoided altogether. Thanks!

    Today...

But they're scary as [bleep] :uhh: They're not that scary, although I did find this one in my bed not so long ago... THAT'S [bleep]ING FRIGHTENING. (but biologically astounding!) I'll just visit Australia, thanks. Today I finally did my physics presentation on the life cycle of a star, failed a trig test, and spent all afternoon finishing a porfolio for creative writing. Midterms start tomorrow. Woo. EDIT: And now, Rob, I can never post again.
