I would like to add to my original post. I completely forgot that there is one aspect in which RS has changed my life. Almost a year ago, I met a friend on Runescape who was in his early 30's. He was successful; degrees in two fields of science, and he worked as a recruiter for a company that hired scientists for other companies. After telling him that I was majoring in astrophysics, he informed me that people who have two degrees in the sciences make far more money and that companies will literally fight over you. He told me that having a degree in chemistry would be a perfect compliment to astrophysics, and that because physics is generally a competitive field of study, that extra degree would put me far ahead of the game. Since then I've declared myself as a double major in astrophysics and chemistry, with a minor in mathematics. I plan on having a Ph. D and a masters, respectively. That friend of mine basically set me up to go farther in life than I would have had I never met him. I still talk to him to this day, though he rarely logs on. I imagine he's quite busy what with being successful and all. I'd say that that is pretty life changing, and in a positive way.

It's because of Runescape that I can type at lightning speed. You make a good point. I remember way back when I was 13 I was taking a computers class. My teacher tried to teach us that "correct" way of typing where you keep your fingers on certain keys. I tried that for five minutes, gave up, and went back to typing twice as fast as anyone in my class, including my teacher. Got an A in the class even though I never did what she asked us to do. :XD: I think it was obvious that I didn't need the class.

I've personally never noticed a difference in damage rates between range armor and melee armor. I think it's more than likely just your range level. I always bring a range potion with me when I'm melee'ing and using a cannon.

Before I had a set goal, I would do everything myself. Nowadays, when I play, I'm slaying. Constantly. There are only two types of items that I buy: cannonballs and potions. If I were make my own supplies, I'd be skilling more than I'd be slaying, and that's unacceptable while I'm trying to get to 90 Slayer. I'm now a pretty firm believer that time equals money, and time spent gathering your own supplies is money wasted. I would only collect my own supplies if the experience gotten or the cash saved was completely worth it. Remember, I used to gather everything myself. Since breaking that habit, I've leveled far more quickly than ever, and I do have more money.

I remember mining coal for a month to save up enough cash to buy a rune full helm, rune chain, rune kite, and rune battleaxe, then I got impatient and just bought mith legs instead of saving for rune. I took a full load of lobsters, a strength potion, and I was level 55 I believe. I was prepared for the most epic battle of my Runescape career. Slaughtered her in about a minute. It was very anticlimactic. Go with melee. She's easy.

I've never left a task without at least one pair. Pure luck on your part. D boots, like any other drops, are dropped randomly. I've killed over 10k of them and have gotten over 300 pairs of D boots but there have been a task or two that I've not gotten a single D boot drop. As soon as my task was done, I left to get another task. I did not stay or camp out there hoping for a drop as some people tend to do. Black Demons in the chaos tunnel have one of the highest drop rates of crimson charms. I think my higher than normal rate is simply due to the fact that I stay longer. It's the only task that I camp at until I run out of supplies. It's an extra thirty minutes per task, but they're quick, so I never saw it as a big deal.

I actually stay until I run out of potions. I can usually kill 250 in around an hour. I was amazed on my first Spirit Mages task. They drop like flies.

Wait, wait wait... you're complaining about losing 20k? 20k is a lot of cash at what, level 40? I've already stated that I exaggerated. Like I said, a task can be done and over with in about an hour and a half. Did I tell you how to play the game? No. I said that ignorance is not an excuse to claim something to be a certain way. Did I ever say that everyone has 70 prayer and uses piety? Where did you get that from? I said that I personally use piety on my tasks, and my times are faster than the average Slayer. I can personally get a Black Demon task done in a little over an hour. For the average slayer, an hour and a half to two hours, assuming you have semi decent stats (you do not), is a good estimate. Right, have fun with your yaks while I'm making 600k per Spiritual Mage task.

You're right, it's an exaggeration. Extreme exaggeration? No. Black demons are a relatively quick task. An hour and a half is probably a much more accurate estimate. But again, it all depends on what you use. I personally use piety on them, so my times are much faster than the average Slayer.

No they are great XP and you do break even or profit 9/10. Maybe your stats are not great enough to kill them effectivley, but they are a decent source of combat and slayer XP and worth the few extra pennies if you have them as a task. Admitedly I wouldn't advise meleeing them for crimsons, but they are great for slayer. they fail period. and its more like 1/10 that they do turn a proffit i've done the last 4 tasks without getting a single rune item to pay for my pots and even when i do its only usually 1 chain or helm to pay for a full inven of p pots. they only drop a little bit of crimsons if you go to the chaos tunnels which will make it cost even more if you decide to melee them. they are good slay xp though if you do decide to melee them i'll give you that. Jesus Christ, does no one know how to slay? BLACK DEMONS 101 Proselyte, prayer potions, combat familiar. CHECK. Chaos Tunnels, because Black Demons found there are the only Black Demons that drop a great amount of charms. THIS IS BECAUSE ONLY A CERTAIN GRAPHICAL TYPE OF BLACK DEMON DROPS CHARMS. Check. Don't have crappy stats. Er... check? Get at least one rune chain a task, plus a few ranarrs, dward weeds and kwuarms? Check. Get a charm drop on just about every kill? CHECK. LEARN TO SLAY?! CHECK! Task of 199 is done in less than an hour if you know what the hell you're doing. I wouldn't mind all this "black demons suck" talk if you guys actually knew what the hell you were doing. It's one thing to find a task to be boring, it's another to claim that a task is bad out of complete ignorance. But none of this matters because this "Maybe your stats are not great enough to kill them effectively..." is your problem.
