FAMAS sucks without SP, but it's awesome with. Got 500 headshots with the Barrett, and also close to 1000 kills with the SPAS-12.

SP definitely helps though. Started using the SCAR-H today - is SP really needed on it? It'd be nice to have a level 70 sniper rifle, that's better than the Barrett or the Intervention; Accuracy International AS50. Shown on Future Weapons to have a one hit kill at 2000 yards - the best accuracy from the Intervention and the power of the Barrett and also has a rather small amount of recoil. DO WANT. IW need to add bipods too.
