Feds Shut Down Megaupload.com
Some people will, no matter what, pay for music, movies, or games. Wolfire Games have, time and time again, seen that even if people can chose their prices that they will still pirate. No matter how many laws you bring in, no matter how dire the consequences, there are people who will always pirate. Actually, they signed last year. Fifth paragraph in. Not all downloads were free. It was basically a way for artists to sell their music and allowing them to keep a large cut of the profits, which they're unable to if they're signed onto a record label. Artists could still give their music away for free and the money would have most likely have been from advertisement revenues. I know that freedoms of expression and of speech don't cover people stealing copyrighted material. The problem is that SOPA/PIPA/ACTA in themselves are censorship. I'm all for the OPEN Act, because it aims at allowing people to protect their IP, without stifling creativity on the net, and with allowing legitimate sites who actually try to remove copyrighted materials at the request of arts to still run without fear of becoming the target of a lawsuit. Megaupload was considered one of the most cooperative filehosting sites, and would often pull material faster than other sites. I'm trying to get a reference for that, but I'm having a bit of difficulty finding it from my history, I'll edit this post when I do find it. I do, however, know that many legitimate users are wanting to sue the FBI over the loss of their legitimate files. Sovereign immunity unfortunately prevents the FBI from being sued unless they agree to be sued, which I highly doubt they will.

It seems that the plot thickens. With their current powers, they no longer have room to justify the existence of SOPA, PIPA, or even the ACTA. So, because my situation is not comparable to someone else's that means it's trivial? We complain about this because we don't want to reach the stage where the Syrians are glad they have it better off than us. Sure; you can not stand up for those wanting freedom of speech on the internet, you can not stand up for those wanting freedom of speech in their homes, but when they want to torture you for something that could possibly be misconstrued as non-beneficial to your leaders don't expect us to even bat an eyelid.

Or, and you may call me crazy, a way to make a section of the HDD its own drive, and that drive is made to be unreadable to anyone without it first requesting a password. This password would be lengthy and designed to resist all known ways of finding out this password. Everyone just imagined their grandparents doing it. Including me... I've spent enough time on the internet that not even the thought of that is unpleasant for me.

I haven't got the money to spend on alcohol, and there's other things I'm going to be spending any money I earn well before I spend it on alcohol. First thing I'm spending the first pay I get on is paying back everyone that I owe money. I'm not stupid enough to spend money I technically won't have.

Drinking/Drugs
Patches/gum have been shown to be effective for the physical addiction, but there are some psychological addictions, such as to actually smoking something, or being in the social situation. I've actually heard (and from personal experience) people go from a smoking addiction to a patch/gum addiction. My parents used something called Zyban for a while which seemed to work well. Personally i found that exercise helps a lot. After a good run/workout i usually could not smoke for quite a few hours afterwards. Just did not taste good. I smoked for 18 months because I found it gave me access to bigger social groups. Every time I wouldn't get that benefit then I wouldn't smoke. Now the only time I consider touching a cigarette I'm drunk and the group I'm with is mostly smokers and nobody objects. Tempted to start pipe smoking with a group of my friends for social reasons.

Today...
So guys, as most of you know I'm broke and have no income until I can get medical approval. Well today I was in the passenger seat of my girlfriend's car as we were going to get my pillow back from my mate's place. I had my arm sitting out of the door like people always do. A cop was following us for a few kms before pulling us over and fining me for having a body part outside of the car. While I'm glad my girlfriend didn't get fined because of me, and I keep refusing to let her give me the money for it, the cop legally has to fine the driver in situations like this. He was also being hostile towards us and has left me feeling pretty mad. He definitely gives off the impression of highway patrol, so either he was on his way home from a day on the freeway or has no friends and trying his best to get promoted. I now have a $265 fine that is due before I go to the neurologist. Luckily my dad has insisted that he lends me the money in case the state debt recovery office won't play nice. This, however, has since triggered thoughts I've been trying to suppress since the seizure of the possibility of a life of relying on others to drive me places or having to always have someone keeping an eye on me. I know people keep telling me that I'm overreacting to the whole thing, but it's just a thought that I cannot seem to get rid of, just suppress it long enough to get on with my very monotonous day, which consists of staying at home unless my girlfriend is able to go somewhere. The fine has completely blown things out of whack as I keep going from crying to having no emotions to back to crying every 10 minutes or so. The only reason I'm not drinking myself to sleep right now is that I have no alcohol and no money to buy some. I know you guys aren't here to listen to my problems, but you're the only group I really confide in well enough to talk about it with.

Today...
Wow, today was a both fun and a bit annoying. Finally got a new bed, and had plans to go out as a farewell to a friend who was moving away. The plans got cancelled, then there was a possibility of going into town, next thing I know my girlfriend is at my door to pick me up. I managed to get 2 drinks all night because we didn't stay anywhere for long and all the streets are alcohol-free zones. I did go skinny dipping in the ocean baths at one point.

Today...
Mine is pronounced foo-rah. In a really bad shape today. Firstly I only got 4 hours sleep because I thought I was working and couldn't get to sleep. Then I went and kicked my toe into the steps in the back room and had major bleeding. Later in the day I started getting headaches and now I'm sore all over.

Bachmann pulls out of race
Wait, you're not going to vote, and then [bleep] about how the majority is a sea of ignorant [wagon]es? Clearly you know enough about the various candidates to decide you don't want to vote. Pick the one least likely to [bleep] up and vote for them. If nothing else, it shows that you won't stand for the ignorant to decide because they're the only ones to vote. Always irritates me when people have freedom and won't even stand up for it because they don't think they'll win this fight. Or you can spoil your ballot if you really feel all the candidates are that awful. It's why I love preferential voting second only to proportional representation (in which if 35% of votes are for Party A then Party A gets roughly 35% of the seats.) With preferential voting no matter what the outcome is then your vote has a say.
