RUDE RANT: PART 1: YOUR RANT AND HOW KIDS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM: ______________ First, let me start with TheDayRSDied. Skill capes did nothing to ruin the game, they allowed higher level players to show that they have no life and have accomplished hitting that 99 skill level. While some were complete and immature douche bags and carried them around F2P worlds to be hailed as gods, it did nothing to hinder my experience with the game, and made me more likely to level up so I could walk around with that cape and laugh as the little noobies followed me and asked to see my emote. EatRuneArrow had been gone for so long, and I finally thought he/she/troll had given up. It's been over a year since the update, and you still find ways to bring your argument up in new ways. First it was the direct approach with the whiny "JaGEX R TEH NUBS!", then "I WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN!" then "RUNESCAPE USED TO BE GREAT". Really? You have to have multiple threads over the loss of the wild. You would think there were better things to do in the world than complain about an online game that you can play for free, like read a book, or complain about something worth your time. Yes, I will admit that I have noticed that the community is dying out. But you seem to blame it on little kids. I was ten or eleven when I first started playing, and so were most of my friends. Hell, half the people playing were probably below the age of 13. And what's this about a good community? I don't think it was any better or any worse than it is now. You are still either a "Noob" a "Choob" or a "No Lifer". There's no way to combat that. That's what the internet is is a cespool of immaturity and pornography and idiots. Not all of it of course, but it's been that way as long as I've used Google to look up "Pretty Flowers" or "Monkeys". It applies to Runescape as well. Let me tell you a story. I started RS2 around 03-04. I played because I found it on Miniclips. NUMBER 1: Everyone complained about how many little kids were coming in on Miniclips so the site took it down. I then introduced my friends and over the next years, we never got a black mark or anything because we played nicely and were not bad. Do not blame the kids for how bad Runescape is now. It always had kids, will always have kids, and Jagex will probably be kind of dependent on kids to help bring in more audience members. And maybe you're wondering why kids keep coming in? IT APPEALS TO KIDS! ITS FREE! Mom and Dad don't have to pay 15 dollars a month to let their son/daughter/troll play! And it appeals to kids! A fantasy world with the occasional wisecrack and a community full of other people to talk to? WoW has a much bigger problem than RS with little kids. Those 14 day free trials have lead to so many veteran players getting annoyed because every day more and more ten year olds go on and start cussing and doing things they are not supposed too. PART 2: WHAT THE PROBLEM IS: __________ The problem with the game is not JaGEX removing the wild and taking away your life, the problem is not children who play, the problems not the prices rising and falling like a boat in a storm. THE PROBLEM IS: *Drumroll please* YOU! That's right. Whine all you want but PKers were the group I had the most problems with during my years on Runescape. They were usually rude, and anyone who would stoop so low as to drag a new player into the wild just for the hell of it are just plain idiots. I remember my times getting lied to by a person I trusted. We were helping each other fight some kind of monster and he helped me through a quest that gave me money, and then he said he wanted to take me to the next quest that would give me twice the amount of money from the first. I was happy with the guy, and guess what? He took me to the wild and slaughtered me! That's the biggest problem I had with it. I never heard of the wine of Zammorack, and had just gotten my new mithril shield. Some guy took me to the wine, told me it was worth five thousand, and left me to die as he stole my money. I would hear the story from tons of friends. They worked hard as new players to get used to what was going on, figure out there surroundings, and overcome the problems they had at first. Do you remember your first time playing? It was overwhelming! They gave you no objectives and after carefully guiding you through your pre-life, you then get kicked into the real world where everything is hustle and bustle, and the hand does not guide you (kind of like the REAL WORLD!). And then you meet a guy who would love to help you and he kills you. It was stupid, rude, inconsiderate, and just plain wrong. And then you would have the a-holes at the wilderness arena, willing to kill you just for your half a slice of cake. Then the guys that would wait next to the lever so they could kill someone who did not know what it did and got transported to their doom. Then you would challenge someone and next thing you know a whole team with this guy the whole time appears and swallows you in large red hit warnings. If anything, I hated most of the PKers, they usually would ruin the experience. The kids were not the problem, it was people who were level 70 and may have been older than us who would kill us for the hell of it. Why would I feel bad when almost everyone I know who played back then had an experience like that with them? They didn't need to go away completely, but they did need to get a kick in the [wagon] and someone to tell them how wrong they were. Part 3: Trading _________ Prices have been going up and down and changing more than I could ever have thought. I like it this way though. Call me a noob or something like that but I think it's kind of like real life. If one set of people start to wither away whatever they bought on a regular basis would go up (in this case, armor and weapons) and whatever they produced would go up as well. The prices were real hard to get used to the beginning of last year, but then the grand exchange came. I've always loved it. It helped keep prices somewhat stable and made it easier to buy stuff. No, it was not good for the trader who would either cheat people out of money or were real good at bargaining, but it would stop the idiots who convinced noobs to give them their armor so they could "trim it". I've never understood why everyone complains about prices, but that's my opinion. And I know it doesn't count, but how does yours count any more than mine? In the grand scheme of things, its Jagex who made the game, Jagex can destroy it however they want, they can change it however they want, they can ban whoever they want. I believe though that the new guy in charge was letting people give him suggestions to make the game better, and everyone said bring back the wild. He explained why he couldn't in depth, if I could find that article I will post it. Part 4: Playing Runescape Today: _________ Runescape today is just as good as it was years ago I think. The people are pretty much the same minus a couple groups that we could have done without. The loss of the PKers was a huge blow to Jagex membership, but they still stood tall and their tower didn't crumble after all of the spam and complaining that everyone did over the games loss. They were quite easy going, and did not seem to affected. They tried to create ways so PKers could still enjoy the game. Bounty Hunter failed miserably. I found clan wars to be the most addicting thing to do on F2P. The PK worlds are alright, but as a non PKer, I don't understand how they are any different from the original Wild. Yes the people are total wussies, and would rather run to the safe spot instead of face death, but it still has the same ammount of danger and douchebaggery as the original wild did. Part 5: End It: ______________ I may have gotten off subject, and I apologize, but I feel that this is just another "Bring Back Wild" rant. You've already established yourself as a cry baby EatRuneArrow, and I applaude that you do keep trying, but in this case it's pathetic considering this is a video game. It was Once a Great Game, and is Still A Great Game. Just because you were a PKer does not mean that everyone will agree that Jagex ruined the game. A lot of people did not PK, and a lot of newer people do not know what PKing was. It doesn't matter anymore, and if you can't accept it: QUIT! I've seen every one of your rants, and in all of them you complain and complain, and yet still play the game? How can you complain so much about a game you so obviously enjoy? You have to enjoy a game to keep the stats you have! If you're so pissed at Jagex and can't quit these rants, than quit the game! Club Penguin has some great PKing including such fun minigames as catching more fish than your opponet, connect four, and throwing bags of coffee into a truck. The game will never return to the way it was back in 2004 because if it did, I would deffinately say "Screw It" and quit. 2004 sucked for me, the casual player. 2009 sucks for you, the hardcore PKer, that seems like a kind of torn demographic. One side says Jagex sucks, one side it's perfectly fine now. Give up now. Just because you have TheDayRSDIED praising you as a god does not mean that you have to continue on your little tirade. And whoever calls me a Jagex fanboy, once again, must remember that they are crying over a game that they obviously have some kind of ties to emotionally if they are complaining, and that makes them just as much, or even more of a fanboy than me. SUMMARY: _________ Runescape in 2004 was a place for spammers, scammers, and every other kind of internet dirt bag you could think of. Runescape in 2009 is exactly what it was in 2004, minus the people who ruined the experience with their idiotic schemes and scams. /END RANT
