Mac or PC?
That's part of the problem - it doesn't do a very good job in many cases. Linux worked well for me, but I never used it to the extent that I used Windows. Not saying that one is better than the other; each has its drawbacks. For Apple it's customizability and for Windows it's the installation and support. Except unless you're buying shady hardware, all the drivers should be available online, and you are able to manually install them yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you can't even manually install your own drivers on Macs. I know that for software like flash and java, you have to use Apples version, even if you don't like the new update.

New rig for BF3
I see what you mean, but on a gaming computer that $130 would be far better spent getting a higher tier card.

SSDs are overrated if all you install on them is the OS. Wait a couple years until they come down in price. AMD has terrible drivers, and I mean god awful. My friend has a computer with a 5770, and it has a hard time playing a lot of older games, even with the newest drivers. Plus you should never buy a card or processor hoping it will flash, because if it doesn't you're stuck with something worse than you want.

Go for the i7 unless you need the $100. As for the GPU, the 580 may be a bit too much for your needs. Do you have any reason for going for zotac, because you can get higher clocked ones for cheaper. I'd recommend this EVGA card, as it has a lifetime warranty. I still think the 570 will be enough for one monitor though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 - Go for this disk drive, it's a burner, and they are all essentially the same.

That chart is biased, notice how alienware has a decent rating, while dell's is horrible. People go by word of mouth, and I bet a lot of people rated dell poorly after never having owned one.

He told us $1500 was his budget, so that's what I went with. He could cut down to a 2500k, although the i7 is worth the extra $100 IMO. I see no point in going for less than 8gb of RAM, you will notice the difference with 4gb and it is only around $40 more. As for BF3, Those are the recommended settings, if you want to play on a 1080p monitor with at least 4x AA and Very High/High (Anything less is ugly), then what I posted is what you want. 1tb is the sweet-spot for price/GB right now, and buying a 2tb drive is overkill unless you need the space right now. AMD Cards have awful drivers, and I would never put myself through that. You could go down to a 560 ti, and SLI another one in a year as 8x PCI-e isn't a massive bottleneck for that card, but the 570 is your best choice for a single card. About the motherboards being bad, Intel released a faulty chipset originally, which made the SATA2 ports fail, but all the new boards being sold now have the new fixed chipset. tl;dr, spend the $1500 unless you need the money elsewhere badly. That's a pretty weak GPU for BF3. You may be able to get by on low settings, but the 570 is a much better choice. I'd go for the WD Caviar Blue or Samsung Spinpoint drive, but spending the extra for the Caviar Black SATA 6.0gbps is worth it. Otherwise everything will work together, corsair makes the best PSUs around and they come with plenty of cables. You still need a disk drive though, unless you're planning on recycling an old one.

Not bad, but I somewhat question going with a core i5 and spending the saved money on a 2tb drive. This is your base, you just need to pick a case that you like, and decide if you want a DVD drive ($20) or a blu-ray drive ($100) Make sure you put the product codes in the search box so you get the right model, and make sure you get the $20 combo deal with the motherboard and processor.

AMD is a big no-no for a high end gaming computer, and 6 cores will just go to waste. Your best choice is an Intel core i7 2600k, which is a beast of a processor. I'd also go with a GTX 570 or 580 and 8gb of RAM. A SSD is a bit out of that price range, unless you want a 32gb one just for the OS. You could go also go for 2 sli'd GTX 560 ti cards, but there is only one motherboard that has true 16x/16x PCI-e slots and it's super expensive.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
If the Cartel are using weapons and ammunition illegally bought from shops in which the ATF authorized illegal sales, then yes, the blood is on the ATF's hands. There is no way that the blame can be placed, or for that matter, reduced by any degree, anywhere else but on the ATF. Oh, I dunno, how about placing the blame on the killers? This. Off topic a bit, but I was watching CNN last night, and they kept blaming the pastor who burnt the Koran for the attack on the UN compound, as if he did it himself. Not sure where you're getting the 10k for an AK in the states though. Depending on the state, you can get a Eastern European one for less than 1k legally. Authentic Russian ones may run you a bit more, but they aren't that expensive.

I can still use my 2001 dell dimension with word 01 and Firefox 2. It's a bit of a pain compared to my i7 build, but it definitely isn't unusable. And your kia analogy is terrible, as it suggests windows computers are less powerful.

China > America
I thought you were trolling at first. China is already an international superpower, no doubt about that. There's no way that China is as strongly dependent on the US as the US is on China. The US owes China billions and the only reason why consumer goods and electronics are affordable for many Americans is because of China. Controlling overpopulation through limitations is hardly barbaric--it benefits the greater good in that population density is manageable as is food supply. Definitely not on the same scale... All in all, nice try kiddo? 1)Power maybe, but not a superpower. 2)If China (Excluding ROC) disappeared tomorrow, the US would undoubtedly be hurt, but they would survive. However, if America either disappeared, or severed all ties with China, China would be ruined. They'd have no market for their goods, and their economy would collapse 3) Whether it's morally right or not, it will hurt china when the majority of their population is too old to work 4) A lot of countries are in debt right now. While the debt to china is a concern, it's not like China can just walk over and demand the money though. 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superpower Scroll down. 2. Wrong again. Look at Chinese exports, what percent go to America? (It's less than 30%). 3. China obviously does not have a shortage of labor... 4. Yeah, they can definitely demand their money. Also, the relative debt the US has is far greater than any other nation. Again, nice try. 1. Maybe you should. That map is of potential superpowers, right above it states that the USA is the only true superpower today. 2. Still a massive hit to their economy. China would be losing a market for their goods, hurting their economy massively, while America would just have to resume manufacturing its own products, or move the factories to Mexico or another South Asian country. 3. Not now, but they will in the future, like Japan and non-islamic Europe. 4. What can they do. Don't just say 'yeah they can' and not give an explanation.

Graphics issue
What are the specs of your machine? It is possible that your GPU is just too old, but mind you I was able to play Runescape HD on a 2001 dell with a 64mb GPU.

Mac or PC?
With all respect, you have to try really hard nowadays to get a virus. If you check what you download and scan weekly, you should never have a problem. First, the appeal of alienware is the graphics capability. Last time I checked even the most expensive macbook used Intel HD integrated graphics. Second, you should never buy a dell from their site, the markups are ridiculous. However, you can find decently priced alienware laptops on third party sites. Third, the only reason the alienware is that expensive is that the new i7 processors haven't been rolled out yet by dell, while apple got them out faster. Fourth, shop around a bit more. Take a look at the ASUS G73SW-A1. It has: Core i7 2630 - 2.0ghz 8gb DDR3 1333mhz RAM 1tb (2x500gb) HDD Blu-ray combo drive GTX 460m 1.5gb GDDR5. All but the processor are better than or equal to the macbook. Oh, and did I mention it's only $1799, $800 cheaper than the macbook.

Hegemony
America does not, and has never denied the fact that it is nuclear armed, and has missile silos. Missiles were on standby during the German intervention in the Canadian war, but have since been ordered to stand down.
