Hegemony Argument Thread
Hey guys. Question for you. Dont you just hate it when you write the equivalent of 2 pages worth of text for the new game, and it takes you almost 3 hours, then your memory stick decides to be a f**king [developmentally delayed] and corrupt every f**king file on itself. Well, i do.

Warhammer 40k is only the most nerdy and awesome pastime ever. Except it's expensive as hell, a box of 5 space marines is $55. But it's worth it when my marines gun down endless swarms of those worthless eldar. And /b/ can be awesome at times, you just have to have a strong stomach. /x/ is cool too.

You don't even need that complex of a formula. Pop growth is Pop*4.5, and GDP is GDP per capita*Pop*, and spendable income is GDP*.075

My random events change based on how you rule your country. If you are a fair leader, and get rebellion, it will be a ragtag group that is easily dealt with. However, if you are an evil dictator, the rebellion could cause serious damage.

Medivel tech won't work, because we know what gets invented afterwards. That's why you normally get modern tech by 1700 in civ, because there is no Christian repression of science for 1000 years. The beauty of picking your own starting area is it allows more variance in play styles. I could pick kazakhstan-area, and have Large swaths of land to expand, or start right beside another player, then attempt to swallow them up. In my hegemony plan, there are also random events, with events ranging from good, such as "your miners strike gold" or "a rebellion forms in the north. If a player is elimanated early on, he could be given a second country, or later on he could control rebels.

I suggested we have US tech, but not the exact same, ie. Kazakhsatan would have a different plane from Germany, but they would both have the same stats as eachother to start. I think if we start with 25 mil. Pop, with a country the size of germany, maybe a bit bigger, it would give everyone a fair start. I'll post my writeup about 9 pm Winnipeg time tomorrow (i think that's 3 am GMT)

A little large, but it's incredibly detailed. I'll change water blue later when I'm not on my touch. EDIT: how does it look posted? Apparently mobile safari doesn't like .png

I'll be active. Rocco's running it, and probably being the main mod. I'm willing to be an assistant mod, unless someone else wants it. So have we agreed on a borderless earth map? I'll find the wikipedia one and post it soon.

I have to agree with dusty on this one, hex. Let's wait for empire to die, Which it will very soon. Also, hex, I like you more now than in the first hegemony, but I'd prefer someone a little more, IDK, stable nodded. I'm @ my grandparents house this weekend, And they have a decent computer, so I'll draft up my version of hegemony. I think I'll give it a slightly more structured combat system, With unit strengths and such, but they will only be guidelines for comparing to other similar units. Fore xlexample, a battleship may have 90 attack, and modern infantry may have 30 attack, but 3 infantry will not beat a battleship.

Its more like a manual really...it tells you how the game works, but if you don't read it, it won't stop you playing... After all, all the responsibility for it is on Dungeonal to check and make sure you are following the rules. Empire is too confusing for me. I need some sort of visual aid for a game that complex.

I say we take a vote for space or earth now. I vote earth.

We tried that. It didn't work. Nobody wants to accept that they lost. Ever. That's why we have the main mod, and a second combat mod, and they both decide who won.

Please Please No Space! How about we pick a country, but we only get a small area of it, all start with 10m pop, 15000 GDP and 2010 tech. That would stop the "ZOMG I'm china my 1billion man army takes asia In 5 years" crap.

Space? Realy? Earth is so much more fun. Space is the whole reason the first hegemony failed. Earth will work great, as long as we have limits on how much we can expand.
