  1. Which they recently did in a sneaky way. See the post "Save 15%..." on the runescape homepage.
  2. If doing living rock creatures for a slayer task I get about 10 times the task size in living rock minerals, I use that number to estimate the number of creatures left on the task and it's usually not far off. I never kept score, so I don't know the average precisely. If you decide to kill living rock creatures for any reason, if you are able to mine them it's almost always worth. Consider this: time mining one: 5 seconds (safe estimation, most of the time I got them almost instantly) --> 12 LRC / min --> 720 / hour assume 9 minerals / LRC (safe estimation) price of a mineral: 350 (safe estimation, current price 389 ea) So with a safe estimation it's 720 * 9 * 350 = 2.2 M gp / h It's probably a lot higher. Because mining them also make them spawn faster so you can stay at one convenient spot, so you lose less time walking between spawns, it could be even higher, but never tested that.
  3. About the first article: "A promise is a promise and shoudl be kept" is a value everybody should try to keep. There are always unexpected events which make it impossible to keep a promise. However, if on forehand the possibility exists you cannot keep your promise, you should state so on forehand, so people know there is an exception why a promise cannot be kept. If Jagex didn't completly playtested an update before the release of the BTS they should reasonly know the possibility exists they cannot keep the promise. Therefore they shouldn't have made the promise the way they did now. If you read the BTS you can only conclude the update would have been released already. I think Jagex should either tell the public about an update if it's completly ready to be released or not give a very specific date of release. The former solution assures they will be able to keep their promise 99% of the time, while the latter allows Jagex some space if they need some more time. I prefer the former, because there always will be people who cannot cope with vague promises. About the second article: It would be nice that people would show some respect to each other. However there are just too much selfish people and if you are playing runescape you just have to deal with that. If you cannot, you should not play a massive multipayer online roleplaying game. I am not advocating selfishness here, but with so many player there are so many thoughts about what is decent and therefore you cannot expect people to deal with other players the way you think is right. You also have to keep in mind people tend to be less decent if the chances of retribution are small and the benefits of not being decent are high. And that's the situation we are dealing with in Runescape.
  4. Don't know if it works, but maybe a suicide mission with just your mask equipped, might work.
  5. As mentioned before, they are pretty rare. I got a total of 3 raven eggs while wcing yews from about lvl 88 to 99.
  6. I experienced Wearing Varrock armour is not necessary to get double gold ores, I get them anyway. I used to mine on world 84, but it's so crowded it gets laggy for me, especially when switching rocks when everybody is running. Now I just use any random world I am already playing in. Although sometimes you have to dodge some protectors or strikers, but the time spend doing this is neglectable in my experience. If you pay attention to the sounds while switching to (eg) other websites, there is no real risk involved mining alone in my experience (however if you forget to do that, it's quite dangerous). My gear: - Guthans set for occassional healing (using excalibur maybe is a good or better alternative, haven't tested it yet) - Rune pick axe (but dragon is better, saving for one atm) - Lava Titan - Combat bracelat for teleport to monastry (only a short walk to caverns from there) - Glory and ring of dueling (for teleport to bank, i use two options cause sometimes I forget to get a new teleport jewel if the old one runs out of charges )) I choose not to bring extra pouches because it only costs little extra time to resupply and therefore doesn't justify the inventory spots taken by the pouches. If you bank you walk by the small obelisk in dwarven mines to replenish your summoning points. Banking is not significantly slower as walking to the obelisk to replenish sum points from any mining spot in the living rock caverns and the extra ores you can mine might compensate for that too. (I usually donĀ“t mine longer then the hour my lava titan lasts, so I didn't test what is actually better, this are just my thoughts about bringing extra pouches)
  7. I strongly advise mining them, it's a very profitable activity. A month or two ago I calculated the gp/h and mining them earned me 1.0-1.2 mil/h (if you use only the time spend mining one, not the time to kill and mine one, which is fair if you want to know whether mining them is profitable). This was just after the Kuradel update, minerals dropped about 100 gp until now, so the gp/h is a bit lower nowadays, but still an estimated 600-700k/h. This is what you earn mining them, the normal drops are not calculated. So, if you need the cash, I would advise you to mine them on a slayer task.
  8. nevermind, already stated above, somehow missed the post.
  9. If a low lvl player asks me how I earn money, I always say: "Just by playing the game" It usually confuses them, they expect a specific method, but for me it holds true. I almost never do something only to earn money, because it usually involves grinding. I play the game to have fun, I already work 50+ in hours IRL ea week, so I don't want to add a couple of hours RS work to it. I already have the basic equipment I need (whip, SS, barrow armour, dragon wc axe, etc, fury), all items which can be bought for only a few mil gp (which every high lvl player can accumulate in only a few hours). Any higher priced items are nice, usually offer better stats, but I don't find it essential to me. I have a dfs from a visage drop, I would not have bought it any time soon, because I don't think the benefits justify grinding for these high priced items. The way I play I don't need them. I also decided I don't need to get a 99 as fast as possible anymore. I have only 2 99s atm (wcing an cooking (to trim)). Because the wc cape is increasingly more common I decided to get thieving (more rare but fast to get) After a while grinding to it, it got boring. So I quit and now I do some pyramid plunder once in a while when I want to, not because I must do it. The same holds true for the other skills, I lvl them gradually just for fun, not to get them fast. I do end up spending my money to lvl skills like construction, summoning and farming if I have some leftover money (almost every penny I accumulate nowadays), most of the times small amounts to get a lvl or a few 100k xp (at higher lvls) and sometimes large amounts if the GE prices is low. I don't do boss hunting because I don't really need the money and I am having enough fun doing other things. In short, I am not interested in best money making methods, I am having fun already without large amounts of cash and I don't like working in the game.
  10. And Jagex needs to - analyze the pattern - write code that detects the pattern - check the code doesn't falsely mark innocent players as bot users Must do this for tens mayba hundreds new bots. So detecting a bot is more work as writing a new bot. And if detecting a bot took the same amount of effort, Jagex still loses the war to some, because there are multiple people (10, 100, 1000?) simultaneously writing new bots.
  11. We now are aware of this system of wealth transfer. It''s an easy recognizable pattern if you know it exists, so I would advice anybody who is against unfair advantages to report these people (both bots). The reason we see this happen, is probably because it's a new solution to avoid the trading limitations. The Real world traders claim it's undetectable (which maybe it isn't) and get away with it because Jagex needs time to evaluate the evidence (to avoid innocent people getting banned) Because of lack of evidence to the contrary (no people claiming they got banned using this system) some people believe this and enter the trap. We might expect other similar bot systems in remote area's where valuable items can be picked up like my suspicion about Whiteberries. Automatic detection of bots by Jagex is in a way similar to the detection of computer viruses by virusscan programs. It's all about pattern recognition. An antivirus software sometimes detects new, unknown viruses because they use a similar pattern as existing viruses. However, sometimes the programmers of computerviruses design a new method which doesn't show a similar pattern as the existing viruses. In this case, humans needs to detect the virus manually and report it, so the software can be adapted to detect the new pattern. The same applies to the detection software of bots. It simply cost Jagex time to write new code and if it is written, probably the real world traders already have moved to the next version. It's therefore important to report any sound suspicion of macroing. It helps Jagex detecting new bots a lot quicker.
  12. k, it's most likely it's a method to transfer wealth. Only up to 3k worth in items appear each 15 minutes for other players to pick up (if i understand the info in the knowledge database entry about how Jagex tries to prevent real world trading correctly). Because snape grass are worth around 400 gp ea, only 7 will appear every 15 minutes. I also noticed that the snape picking bot sometimes entered the space of the trading bot, possibly to pick up the appearing snape grass. The reason the macro is doing this is probably to hide that the trading bot is dropping the items to avoid suspicion. I suspect a similar bot system exists at Whiteberries at the red dragons in the wilderness too (now that I think of it). Here one person was picking whiteberries and another person was standing at one spot. I was there to collect some whiteberries myself for personal use. I waited for the picking character to fill up his inventory and leave. However, this didn't happen. I therefore switched worlds. I didn't realize this could be a similar bot system as the Snape Grass system. I don't know whether Revenants enter the Red Dragon area. If they don't, it's a safe way. If they do, it's is a risky method. I think revenants don't enter this area, because after I switched worlds a revenant attacked me outside the gates, I escaped running back to the whiteberry spot and the revenant didn't follow me at all inside the gates.
  13. I noticed a similar couple too while last week. The lvl 3 just stands there, the other, higher lvl player is picking snape grass. It was obvious they were macroing, however the how and why is a big question to me too. The lvl 3 never left her spot. I observed their behaviour for about 15 minutes, but I couldn''t think of any possible way. It's obvious the higher lvl bot is able to empty it's inventory (he is able to pick over 28 snape grass at least). However, how the lvl 3 is able to receive the snape eludes me. Occassionally they drop some snape grass (only 2-3 at any given time), so I don't think the lvl 3 drops all the snape grass. Her inventory isn't filling up either (otherwise the higher lvl bot should not be able to empty his inventory eventually) I was thinking about a way to get the snape grass noted, but I don't know that way. I reported the higher lvl player for macroing. I should have reported the lvl 3 too, but I forgot.
  14. I have about the same stats as you and often get up to 5 rune drops (squares and scimmies) a trip (i do trips with 15 monks and 2 super str/att pots). I usually get at least 2 rune drops, but 5 drops occur quite often, my estimation is about 2-3 out of 10 trips). On average I get 2-3 rune items a trip. But since the drops are random, sometimes you won't get any. I like to go to cockroach soldiers for training because they provide reasonably good XP (never measured XP/hour though), reasonably good drops for training monster and a steady, but not great source of crimson charms. The profit from the drops about covers the loss from using the crimsons for summoning too.
  15. I will try farming them anyway. I see the seeds are only 110 gp and going down too, so guess there is some supply. ty all.
  16. I know they are actually quite cheap, but was looking for alternative ways to lvl herblore too. So therefore looking for a source of spirit weeds.
  17. Now i'm about to lvl sum to lvl 68 for bunyips, i want to make some sum pots too, but don't have any spirit weeds yet. I have 13 spirit weed seeds, but i don't think that that can provide me with a large stock of pots. Which monsters drop spirit weeds (herbs, not the seeds), if any? Any indicication about drop rates is welcome too. Thanks.
  18. I have some numbers to support this guide. This is the xp I (lvl 78 fishing) gained in an hour: - 3932 Str and Agil xp - 6380 Cooking xp - 43400 Fishing xp that's a total of 57644 XP an hour And about the loss of cooking xp: you also have to consider the time you save with this method, look how much money you can make in that time. I think you can buy enough fish for cooking from the money you can make in that time to make up for the "loss". I don't know how much fishing xp you can get at shilo exactly, but assuming that the 38k an hour mentioned by hooya is correct, you get >5k xp an hour more xp with barbarian rod fishing. Assuming you start rodfishing at lvl 70 it will take 286 hours (43k xp an hour) to reach lvl 99 fishing. From lvl 70 to 99 takes 323 hours (38k xp an hour). That's a difference of 37 hours. And that is not taking into account the tame you save training the other skills you get experience in (a total of around 1.1 mil xp for Str and agil and 1.8 mil xp for cooking). A rough estimation (not sure about the exact numbers) tells me that you will get around 17 mil xp from cooking salmon and trout you catch in Shilo (starting from lvl 70 fishing). So you have to get 16 mil cooking xp in order to make up for the loss. You could do this for example by cooking lobs. Cooking lobs will cost you 50 coins for 120 xp (buyin raw for 250 and selling them for 200). So it will cost you around 6,6 mil coins to compensate the loss in xp. If you only take into consideration the time saved by barbarian fishing, this means you have to earn 178k an hour to afford it. I can do that easily (runecrafting nats gets me at least 200k an hour). And things get even better if you take into consideration the time saved in training agillity and strength. And cooking lobs is faster xp, so you save time doing this as compared to cooking salmon and trout on top of it. I think the point is proven: barbarian rodfishing is superior to Shilo flyfishing.
  19. I have a question related to this one: how many xp would be generated ea hour if power mining iron on average? (i am lvl 76 mining atm)
