I see it more as a means of adding new content to the game. There are loads of tree type IRL that can be added into the game There are loads of Fish IRL that can be added into the game. There are loads of Ores IRL that can be added into the game. I also think that it's unique enough. I mean fishing/wc/mining are all the same. You gather something out of a fixed spot. Attack/str/def/hp are all the same as well. Sure it's going to have its similarities with slayer but you can also do plenty to make it stand apart from slayer.

Chopping trees with herrings? I think some slayer like skill but then for gathering skills would be a tiny bit better :P I dont know whether to think yay or neigh for that. I'm 99 in all gathering skills except mining and really can't be bothered "to mine 50 rune ore" just to get exp in a different skill. I'd be pretty pissed if I was 200M in gathering and this skill came out. But if I was a new player with 1 everything then I'd think great! really depends on your skills :L That's actually what I had in mind here. A non combat slayer type skill. I'm still fleshing it out and might post it in the suggestions forum.

There will be 2 more skills I reckon released in 2012, so that really would be some achievement lol. lolwat? Someone should ask Ren if he knows anything. I'm pretty sure when JaGex said they didn't have plans for new skills in 2012 they didn't mean that they had 2 in the pipeline.
