  1. It is worth it!! I finished both quests. I put 10 workers on Raw Fish, and the rest (currently) on Maples. I put 1.2 Mil in the kingdom. I collect items once per week (after getting my weekly dose of Tears of Guthix). Over a span of 7 days, the workers use 75k per day...or a total of 525k for the week (I keep my balance at 1.2 mil...just in case something happens that I can't get there during normal schedule, and it is 8 or 9 days before I collect) I try to visit every few days to get my favor back to 100% (the higher the favor, the more supplies are gathered.), but I do not collect until I have gathered my Tears of Guthix. From the Raw Fish: 3400 - 3500 Raw Tuna, and 900 - 970 Raw Swordies. 20+ caskets. Several uncut gems (up to Diamond). Level 1 Clue Scroll. Green Boots / Gloves (which always sell on GE at median price). Crystal Key Halves (Can get both Ring and/or teeth). The caskets contain cash, uncut gems, Cosmic Talismans, or Crystal Key halves. From Maples: 3k+ logs. 20+ bird nests (contain Rings up to Diamond, colored eggs(Red, Green, and Blue), or Tree Seeds). The tree seeds vary, but I have gotten Spirit Tree Seeds and Magic Tree Seeds. I usually sell all the fish and the boots/gloves, and keep everything else to train stats with. I do not burn Swordies anymore, so I always cook them before selling on the GE (Raw and Cooked price was pretty close last I checked). Sometimes I will cook 1k of the Raw Tuna...sometimes not. They are worth more Raw than Cooked. From the items I sell, I usually earn close to 1 Mil. If you subtract the the 525k i put back in, I clear 475k per week. If I sold the Maple Logs and Tree Seeds as well, my profit margin would be even higher. I always complete the Clue Scroll...you never know what you will get. I have gotten Gold Trimmed Mage Gear, which sells for a good price...so the scroll can be the cherry on top! So...I make decent cash for doing nothing...I get good XP (140 for each cooked Swordie...100 for each Raw Tuna + Xp for burning Logs and enchanting the Rings found in the Bird Nests) Note: I have selected Flax in the past, instead of Maples...when I did, I got 4k+ Flax and misc seeds. I have not used the Kingdom to gather Produce...or Herbs...or Teak/Mahogany Logs. I did try Coal, but was not impressed with the results. I recommend ALWAYS maxing Raw Fish, and then either Flax or Maples...depending on your long term goals.
  2. I have been trying to think of a way to respond, since the Landscape of RS has changed so much since you played. When Jagex removed Wildy AND implemented Trade Caps, a lot of the reasons for training high CMBT stats went the way of the Cuckoo Bird. Even Staking became less profitable, and more for Bragging Rights than moneymaking. Now...since Jagex will be launching PvP worlds, I would say overall HP, Defense, and Prayer will be key to surviving. Sounds like Close Combat against other players is your motivation, so that would be my recommendation. That way, you are ready for the launch of those new worlds. Edit: Just looked at your stats closer. I would kick up your Attack a few levels (80), then concentrate on the Defense Stat.
  3. Partyhats were replaced by useful items...God Swords, God Armor, and now with latest quests Spirit Shields and Elixers as the most sought after items. Rares are nice to have (love my Santa), but people have changed their way of thinking when it comes to spending cash: Item that is useful...or item that is useless. Items that have a purpose will always dominate "Fluff" items.
  4. DT

Navyvet1 replied to SomeWelshGuy's topic in Help and Advice
I finished DT with stats that were lower than yours. I actually found DT a fun quest (Off Topic...the most frustrating quest is Mourning's End pt 2). Just read the guides and finish it in stages...you will be fine. The Trollheim Tele comes in handy for a lot of things, so I would recommend doing it before you take on DT. Good Luck.
  5. Once you finish Lost Tribe and at least start Recipe for Disaster, the fastest way to mine Iron is open to you(where you do not need and items to help you tele): Logon to the fullest Member world you can. Go to Lumby basement and go into tunnels (don't forget light source and tinderbox). Talk to goblin and get teled to mines. There are 2 spots very close to where you enter that have multiple iron rocks you alternate against. Pick your spot and mine a full inventory. Talk to Kazgar and ask to be teled out of mines. Run back to Lumby Basement Bank. Rinse and repeat. If you are using a Lantern, you get 26 ore per trip. If you have the Firemaking Level for the Goblin Mining Helmet, use that so you can get 27 ore per trip (1 spot for Tinderbox...just in case). Wear weight reducing gear (Spotted/Spottier Cape, Boots of Lightness, etc). If you want to collect arrows, wear Ava's Attractor/Accumulator for that extra bonus! There are also Silver Rocks here, so this is also a very fast way of mining Silver. Good Luck!
  6. If Gems are what you are after, the Wall Safes in the Thieves Den are second to none. Not only do you get decent Thieving XP (70 xp per success), but gems flow pretty quick. If you have the stats to access it, don't waste your time with Gem Rocks...go right for the Wall Safes. The ability to bank is a HUGE plus to eat/heal, and get right back to getting gems.
  7. I do understand your question....I just haven't personally done a study on it, but I pickpocket Paladins and the success rate is increased visibly over when I do not wear them. For me and my Thieving level (73), they do impact my success rate.
  8. His name is Blasidar. I would HIGHLY recommend saving up the 500k needed for the best Grave Marker. Almost a necessity for when you go in the Wildy for Level 3 Clue Scrolls. If you can't afford the 500K, then the next best is the line sold for 50k. I would recommend staying away from anything less...you are wasting your money.
  9. The Gloves of Silence are of no use during Blackjacking. The Gloves BEST use is on Guards and Knights...less chance of failure equates to the gloves lasting longer (since they start to wear out with each failure)
  10. Chins (both Grey and Red) are stackable. No need for bait...or wasting time smoking the traps. Just set up the traps and wait. As your level increases, the speed in which the chins get trapped also increases.
  11. Funny you post this...I just needed to go get more crystal shards myself. You need to essentially do the whole Haunted Mine quest again EXCEPT: Do Not change the points on the mine car track...just put the fungus in the cart...go to the board and start the car off. You will not need to engage in any combat...but you need to get the key again to get into the chamber to get the shards. Suggestion: No armor needed...but weight reducing gear comes in handy; Spotted/Spottier Cape, Boots of Lightness, etc. Only bring a chiesel with you...NO TELE RUNES (make sure your Home Teleport is fully charged and ready to use) When using the chiesel on the crystal, you can only have 1 shard at a time. Drop, and cut a new one...get plenty of extras so you never lose them again. I personally cut and dropped enough to get 28 shards. I dropped the chisel...picked up an extra shard (inventory filled with 28 shards)...then home teled out. I made 28 Salve Ammy(e). They are untradeable, but if I lose it again, I won't have to go back to the Haunted mine for a loooong time!
  12. Well...if you are not able to answer the question as asked, please do not respond. My question had NOTHING to do with Broad Bolts...Rune Crossbows...or anything OTHER THAN Crystal Equipment. Frankly, you are posting spam. I guess I'll go to another help site and ask the same question. Perhaps those that respond will actually READ the question as stated and respond accordingly.
  13. Logon to a fairly full world (the more players, the faster the respawn rate) and head over to the Barbarian Agility Arena. There are 4 planks laying around...just pick up until you have a full inventory, and deposit them into the "Deposit Box" located neraby in the entrance to the Barbarian Assault mini-game. Either make nails, or buy them...depends on your level of patience/size of bank account. Good Luck with the quest.
  14. Just today, I have performed enough recharges of my Crystal Seed so that all subsequesnt recharges by Ilfeen are only 180K. So now, I am considering purchasing a second seed so I will have 2 Crystal Bows to use in the Fight Caves (and follow Muggi's equipment example in the AOW on this subject). I have some questions: 1) What is the cost of a second seed from Ilfeen? I still have to go recharge my existing seed for 180K. When I go to recharge it, I want to bring the right amount of money with me. 2) Is it worth buyng an uncharged seed from another player, either directly or through the Grand Exchange? I noticed that uncharged seeds are available on the GE with a median asking price of around 50K. 3) Regardless of where the second (or subsequent) seed is purchased from, what is the recharge cost? Does the cycle start over for the newest seed, or is the recharge cost the same as my primary seed? (In my case, 180K) Thank you for your help in answering these questions.
  15. After seeing this guide, I went to the Training Grounds last night to give it a shot. The Knight weaknesses posted are right on...except for the 7th Knight...Sir Kay. I found that Crush Attacks worked very well on him. Using my Dragon Mace, I finished him off pretty quickly. I did have trouble getting a hit on him with either my DDP++ or D-Scim. Switching to the Mace spelled the end for Sir Kay (Use of a DB-Axe on Sir Kay would work as well, then) Use of the Training Dummies does still work. It made it very easy to get a breather...re-pot as needed...eat...and switch Weps and attack types without the stress of being under constant attack and monitoring stats. I was NOT able to test whether getting in the first shot made the knights wander around without attacking back...each knight was very quick to make the first strike of the battle. I will have leave that to the next folks who undertake this Training. The guide worked very well. Thank you very much for posting it. P.S.: I wore Rune Legs/Plate...Helm of Neitznot, Barrows Gloves, Dragon Square, Glory Ammy, Obby Cape, DDP++ in weapon slot. Backpack: Dragon Mace, Dragon Scimmy, 1 Super Set (Att, Str, and Def), 3 Super Restores, and the rest filled with Tuna Potatoes My Stats: Attack: 76 Strength: 72 Defense: 75 Hit Points: 79 It was an easy task to complete the Knight Waves. Use of the Training Dummies is Highly Recommended to give you the edge. Good Luck! 8-)
  16. I am actually enjoying plotting my strategy to determine the most cost effective way of levelling. I enjoy the challenge of trying to find just the right spot (for my level) to kill monsters for drops of Charms, while being close enough to a bank to make the gathering go by quicker. I've travelled to spots I have not been to in a long time to see where it works best. I have been all over the Map at this point, and I find I am enjoying the discovery of it all over again. I have been attacking EVERYTHING to see if they drop charms or not...the curiosity aspect has me hooked because there are no real Skill Guides yet. It took me a few hours, but I found a spot that works just right for my Level. I can understand the frustration of those players with higher combat levels...the Familiars that are in the low end spectrum of the scale are fairly useless (an Jagex already posted as much!). I really do not see this skill of much use to those who have already completed all quests, or those at 100+ levels. But it can be worthwhile to you if you make it so....assist in creating a comprehensive Skill Guide here on Tip.it. Get engaged on the site. Instead of being bitter, try and find a good aspect and expand on it. With the current set of Familiars, the benefit does not appear until you level above 50+. Who knows...maybe Jagex will make Charms tradeable with the next update...and maybe not. A good way of making money would be to gather (and sell) the Charms IF they are Tradeable...and if not, then you have enought to level pretty quick at "Pouch Creating" - my favorite nickname for this skill. To those saying it costs sooo much to level...I got to level 19 using less than 110K, and without needing to gather any more charms than what the Quest rewarded me with! I actually took the time to review the XP charts and plotted my course. I created and posted a guide for those in my Clan the day Summoning was released. It was very exciting working a Skill WITHOUT any guides out there. Everyone needs to train this skill differently...based on your current Stat Levels. There will be no "One Size, Fits All" way to do it, unlike all the other skills out there. This leaves it wide open for each player to find their OWN way of utilizing this skill to their advantage. I was VERY happy that this is not a skill that can be bought...OMG - you actually have to work at this Skill! *Shudder*...LOL  To those that have "Pure" Skillers...Get over it! So this isn't for you...TOUGH! The recent Jagex updates nullified the effective use of "Pure" characters anyway. With no Wildy, Pure Combat characters lost their edge. With the Trade restrictions in place, you can't drop trade from a Main or Friend in large quantities...so ditch the Pure and use your Main! The game has changed...like it or not...so ADAPT already! Instead of complaining, take the time and LEARN the Skill before sacrificing it to Rants! To end...it never seems to amaze me that I see posts from those who are not just "Awarded" a 99 in a skill as its released. This 1 is different. For those Players who enjoy the mechanics of the Game (I include myself in this) and get a thrill of determining the best way of turning things into an advantage, this is the Skill for us! For those with a Short attention Span and who require immediate results, this Skill is no good to you. :shame: I LIKE SUMMONING! (i.e. Pouch Creating - at least in the temporary sense) :D
  17. Before the update, those using Bots just jumped off the boat from the training island and started hammering away at resources. Now...there might be less (or might not be), but abusers of the system will be harder to recognize. Before, it was easier to recognize MOST bots (not all are bots...some were legit "Pure Skillers")...a level 3 or 4 in the "green pants...chopping Yews with an iron or steel axe. Now, they will have higher levels...making EVERYONE suspect by self appointed BOT hunters. OFF TOPIC: I mean really...If I get reported 1 more time because I refuse to acknowledge with a response every 30 seconds when someone yells "WC Level?" I'm gonna PHREAK out! Just because someone does not talk does not mean they are Macroing! Learn to tell the difference first! ON TOPIC: I do expect to see those who like to Macro start to quest with their Bots, if just to take advantage of the increase in Trade limit. So, it will be hard to tell what the true impact is with these updates. "When there is a Will, there is a Way"
  18. Most folks who complain about PKers were either jumped/killed while in the Wildy, or were Deathly afraid of the Wilderness and NEVER ventured in. So...whether you agree with the concept or not, PKing was a HUGE portion of the "Purchasing" community. People "Skilled" to sell items to PKers for higher than average prices, because PKers wanted it then and there (to get back to their "Fun") and had the cash for a quick purchase (loot from the deceased!). I was never a PKer, but I understood the dangers of the Wilderness and also understood the allure for other types of players. So I watched what most PKers needed in large quantities and worked my skills in those areas to provide...it gave a good incentive to grind through levels of a skill. Without an incentive, "Skilling" is boring...unless you are one of those striving to be a "99er". "Grinding" is NOT fun! Stakers ALSO played a portion of the "Purchasing" community...albeit not as large as the PKers. There is no incentive now for Staking except to make a name for yourself....same with Bounty Hunter (The PKing replacement). There is no "Skill" involved in it at all...and no monetary incentive since a vast majority of Bounty Hunters 1 item...a mini-game designed around EGO building, not teamwork. My gripe about the update is not around whether it was necesary or not, but in the WAY it was done. I have read here replies that JAGEX is filled with intelligent folks; they COULD have been intelligent enough to design the QP equation (or some other solution) into the update BEFORE initial release. Developers must understand the impacts to updates PRIOR to launch, and find creative ways to counter the negative impacts at the same time. Otherwise, the updates LOOK rushed, and not well thought out. Sorry...but pushing major updates to previous updates doesn't make JAGEX look good. There are other games and game systems out there. If the Thrill of the game and the Fun are removed, gamers will look elsewhere for fun. That has already started to occur, and expect a fresh wave of "Quitters" after January 2nd. Then...it will take some time to see what the TRUE results of the updates are. Will Runescape Fade? or Flourish? Only time will tell. For me, I hope the latter. (ie Flourish) I've spent a lot of time developing my charcter, and would hate to think I wasted my time. :-k
