We played for 3 hours. Not really "good" time. We also played a 3 hour game of risk last night (starting at [bleep]ing midnight, who's idea was that?), so we're fairly used to long games.

I go to one of the worst party schools in the state (as in least known for paties), but it was a game party anyway, not a "let's get drunk and dance" party. Game parties don't work with large numbers of relative strangers. I don't like large crowds either, so I wouldn't have stuck around either way.

There was a game night tonight for the floor event. It was so crowded in there, like 40 people in the RA's dorm at one time. My roommates and I left to play something else until it calmed down. We ended up playing Monopoly, and I won on my first time playing, which was pretty cool. After that I went back to the bigger party (no one else wanted to go) and played Mafia for the next hour. I really need to go to more stuff without my roommates/"friends" because it's so much better doing things without them. Rooming with a couple new people next year will be nice. Now I just need to figure out how to turn those events into real friendships. Then maybe I can make some better friends.

Spent all evening yesterday cleaning and rearranging my room. It really needed it, since I haven't done any major cleaning since I moved in. Ended up moving my bed by the window. Terrible idea. Oh man, so cold last night. I mean, the snowstorm didn't help, but still, freezing. I don't know how to rearrange it now though, unless I want to pull everything off the walls. :/

Too be fair, Distracted mentioned cannabis briefly 3 pages ago as part of a larger story, so it's not like he's been talking about it non-stop.

Open office destroyed my masterful document that I spent hours working on the other night when I tried to save it into a .doc format. Kindof want to cry. I'm so sad that I won't be able to make it look as nice as I had it, and I'll have to spend another two hours formatting. :cry:

Bought a 16 GB usb drive because it was $15. I have bought so many of these stupid things because they're cheap. What am I even going to do with 28 GBs of storage? What, did you type that with your butt?

Well Tim, look at it this way. I've lived here 19 years, in the heart of gun owning America, and I've never been shot, nor been around someone who has been shot. Obviously it's not that common, or else I would at least know of someone. That being said though, I'm going to totally destroy that argument by saying there's been two shootings/gun scares near me in one night. If Facebook is to be believed, some guy at the college in my home town is walking around campus with a gun, and had been for like an hour. And not to far from my dorm a ton of cops are at some house apparently responding to a shooting, if my roommate is to be believed. Kindof a surreal night.

I've been having computer troubles lately, so I'm going through and trying to back up files so I don't lose them. Major nostalgia trip. Agreed, though I do kind of wish we had gotten it just so we could have some snow to accompany the cold. I'm pretty tired of the cold.

I just want to point out that eating only the creme from oreos is the grossest thing ever. One time Junior year, my math class had a thing where we measured the amount of creme on regular and double stuffed oreos to get a tolerance for the amount each had. That day was the first and last time I had an oreo with 30 oreos' worth of creme and one oreo's worth of cookies. The cookies on the other hand you can eat in mass quantities with no more than normal repercussions of eating cookies en masse.

@Muggi: Touché. I guess I counted that as something separate from punctuation, or maybe as it's own, or something. @Spork: Mine was especially bad right after the new interface update (with the guide and whatnot), because it literally only showed videos I had already watched, primarily from people I was already subscribed to, rather than people related to who I was subbed to. However, at some point I think they updated the algorithm to give a wider video suggestion, similiar to how it used to be. At least on the related videos, not so much on the homepage. I suspect you might have to go out of your way to watch new videos for a while, and that might help, but I make no promises.

I'm trying to think of a situation where 3 is acceptable, and I can't.

My friends fairly recently convinced to start reading a webcomic. I'm about halfway through because it's long and hard to follow, so I'm taking it slow. But they keep posting about updates on tumblr and they all have spoilers so I physically can't go on right now even though I want to spend five minutes not doing homework. God damn.

But it would, because legalizing prostitution (or weed, or guns, or piracy, etc) will make it more prevalent. And the more broken windows, the more anarchic things feel to potential criminals. But the government does have a claim on a behavior that is illegal. So long as prostitution is illegal, you can control to a certain extent that broken window. But you're right - you can't punish someone for contributing to crime if they haven't actually committed a crime. I'm not actually sure how I feel about this whole thing. On the one hand, it would be nice to think that it would raise living standards for sex workers who work in a very dangerous environment. On the other hand, legalization would definitely make things worse before they got better.

Besides, I feel like if we hammer out morality in every single discussion thread, as TIF tends to, it'll be about the same thing.

The thing is, you can't say prostitution doesn't affect anyone besides the two engaged. Even besides the STD problem, and the regulation difficulties, there's this thing called the broken windows theory, which basically says that if there is a minor problem in a neighborhood/community/society, it invites bigger problems simply by being visible. So, graffiti isn't just a sign of gangs being around, but a cause of it as well, because as you see the graffiti go (at least seemingly) unpunished, you feel that you could benefit from being in a gang just the same. It applies not just to problems of legality, but also of morality. If everyday you see a prostitute on the corner, at a very subconscious level, this tells you that the rules/societal stigmas/your own morals that keep you from doing something "wrong." Even if you personally find no immorality in prosititution, you might take less credit of the opinions of someone who does, because if there's a hooker on your corner everyday, it can't be wrong. There's no action that doesn't have an effect on the people around you, however slightly. For that reason, it's really hard to justify the "If it doesn't harm someone else" argument because there's a good chance it does.

We played dodgeball with foam balls, but how do you play kickball with foam balls? You can't really kick them that far... They seemed to work alright for us. You didn't really kick them far, you just kicked them wherever no one was, since if you kicked them far they got caught and you got out. I guess it might have been with a regular kickball - there were some other rules to matball that differentiated it from kickball. Needless to say, I've blocked most of that time out of my memory.

To be fair, my schools had dodgeball banned. We played matball instead, which equated to one of two games depending on who your teacher was: kickball or dodgeball, but both played with foam balls instead. So it's not like the "ban" is unworkable. But, yeah, highschool PE was terrible. Middle school was pretty awful too. We literally got banned one year in middle school from using the locker rooms for like 2 weeks, so we had to do PE in our street clothes. It sucked.
