Recently we have been seeing various updates, coming in slowly to runescape that I think WILL destroy the game that we know. First of all - The Flagstaff, the introduction of the first item in runescape to bought for real life money, and significantly introduced the redeem-code button, which shouted out a warning anyway, and started down a slippery slope. Next - Introduction of free trade, this blatantly put jagex's seal of approval on rwting, as it allowed it to be done with laughable ease. More recently- Facebook update- A whole new way to introduce people to runescape, as well as making account security laughable. This also makes runescape come closer to a lot of games by companies such as zynga (spelling), that make crap like Farmville. This is most of all significant as games like these are based on things like FarmPoints, which you buy for real cash (J-Coins similarity). And now worst of all, we have the BTS promises not only to ruin the very ideals runescape was based on, that all items in the game should be got through hard work, and not based on real-life wealth. I ask you, now that we know jagex are planning to add rwt in some sectors, where does it end? - Will these items be sellable after you buy them from the runescape shop? - If they are, this puts a fixed price on runescape gold, and will greatly encourage rwt, that is if jagex don't start offering gold in the shop itself! - Even if they are not, these new 'auras', that you buy for money, if they add a single stat boost or give ANY effect aside from purely decorative, then jagex will have finally shown they don't give a flying [bleep] about this game, and are looking to turn it into "Medievalville, A Facebook game from the successful Jagex Corporation!"

Was excited when I saw the new item slot, but now to get items for this slot you have to be a loyal member? More uber items for people who think they are good for playing for 10 years :thumbdown: ? Or even worse, items for paying more money. I'm seeing j-coins being used to buy emotes and new items here -.-

That is kind of beside the point, just because you fail to see these accounts being fun, doesn't mean others won't And this sort of sets a standard to be used, and you would be able to PROVE to other people that your account is a diy only one, making that bandos godsword you're wearing seem a lot more impressive.

This thread is a suggestion to implement a new option on the creation of your account - DIY only. This would come with many warning screens that Jagex seems so good at adding so as to stop people new from runescape from choosing it (choose only if you are a previously experienced player) ######So what does this mean?####### Simply put - This would disable the use of the grand exchange, trading, staking, pking or any other activities that could directly transfer items between accounts These accounts would be marked as such by a symbol next to their name when talking and when right-clicked, in a similar way that a Jagex moderator is with the gold crown. All other minigames such as dungeoneering or fist of guthix would still be doable Lootshare would not be available, though the joining of clans/ friend chats would be. It just makes the game more varied, and brings back the long lost aspect of earning your first mithril plate that the security strongholds destroyed long ago. Its fun! What could be more fun than killing gwd bosses to build your own godsword (provided you have made a mithril grapple to get into armadyl first!), or to smith your own rune armour. Response to points raised : What about people who already DIY, they will be left out - This is unfortunate but it is impossible to work out if someone has ever traded, drop traded or used the ge, and also allows everyone to start from the same point What about drop trades - Would work in a similar way to the previous pre-trade limit 3k barrier, but would block all items appearing on the ground worth over 0gp! What about free for all bosses - Well its a free for all! You are not lootsharing and it is within fair restrictions I think to allow boss hunting in teams when you cannot share loot anyway. Also remember that bossing would be extremely difficult. Want brews? You are going to have to collect lants from drops or farming.
