That's not how it works here. There are certainly more parties (20 in Canada as opposed to 8 in the states), but we're still using a standard FPTP system, so you actually need to win a riding to get elected. At the moment there are six parties with at least one seat in the house, but only three major parties.
-
I wonder how big of a problem that would actually be? Here you're allowed to vote in any number of leadership/candidate nominations for any number of parties. I suspect any sabotage going on is pretty minimal. Then again, politics are slightly less polarized here.

I'm sure you would need proof of a job, but you don't have to preapply for a visa. You just go to the border with the right paperwork and declare your intent. That sounds like the TN visa, but that's only for business purposes as far as I know.

There is the TN visa which is pretty easy to get.

Are you allowed to be in multiple parties in the states? Here you can be in as many parties as you want. I think currently I'm a member of three.

This Bernie Sanders thing is interesting. It seems like he has little chance now, but IIRC Obama started pretty slowly as well (with Clinton holding the lead initially), and look what happened. Of course, Sanders is much more radical than Obama, so he runs less chance of converting voters in the center. He sure is appealing to the "Something is wrong with the system and he is going to radically overhaul it" crowd...and Obama appealed to that a fair bit as well.

take a driving course, you can get them as cheap as $300 I'm actually currently enrolled in one, but they suggest that you get training outside of the school because the Ministry of Transportation actually recommends that you get 80 hours before your driving test. You can probably pay for some extra hours. Other than that there's no option but borrowing a car.

I've never seen that here. Only if you spend more than $4. If the meal is less than that then the provincial portion of the HST is removed. They call it HST but still apply it the same way as ever. They calculate both separate and then apply the GST followed by the PST. If the cost with the GST is $4 or less, they void the PST. Technically the PST/GST split doesn't exist anymore, but it still does in calculations. I am in Ontario, by the way. Also, Randox, I think that might be a Nova Scotia thing. It doesn't work like that in Ontario at present. I kind of hope it does in the future, though. Also, the corner store near me does that a lot, too. Interesting. I guess I've never spent less than $4 in a restaurant. I should try it sometime...

I know gas has all taxes included in its listed price here. I also know grocery items are not taxed, but I'm not sure what else is deemed essential. So at the very least, those 2 things are the same. Alcohol and tobacco might be as well, but I don't know for sure because I've never needed to. If a restaurant meal is less than $4 you don't pay provincial tax on it here. If you buy alcohol in a restaurant, you pay 13% provincial tax instead of the usual 8% (on top of the federal tax, of course). It really is more complicated than it needs to be. Not sure what province you're in, but in Ontario the HST (federal and provincial) is 13%. You pay that on all restaurant meals.

If your friend is cockblocking you, he's not your friend also, she's not a special snowflake. as much as you may feel like it right now there are millions of women out there who are just as good as her or better. -

Honestly I'd be inclined to go with a blanket age of 18 for pretty much everything, just because it's consistent. As for handling cash though, that's a private businesses decision that the government doesn't need to be involved in (short of laws against child labour, I suppose).

Using a calendar is good for everything, not just dates. I try to put every single thing I have to do in one...I can't remember the last time I missed an obligation like that. -

Wind? My ex had that for a while, but the coverage was absolute shit. For me personally, I have Bell. Unfortunate consequence is that I end up spending well over $70 for mine (unlimited texting throughout Canada, and unlimited calling but a shitty data plan). I might consider cutting costs if gas prices go up any higher... Yep. Coverage was awful at the beginning, but over the past few years it's been pretty good (maybe 90% as good as one of the big guys). The biggest problem is pay per use fees outside of the home zone, but when I'm in the gta it works pretty well.

most of the /TRP posters are pretty mediocre (there are a few decent ones though) -
I would never date an 18 year old. But dating and just hooking up with are two totally different things.
-
Why on earth not? It's a two year difference, that's totally normal. Not to mention that the age of consent in Michigan is 16. It's great that you don't feel sympathy for a guy who had consensual sex with a woman who lied about her age and is now a registered sex offender for 25 years. Of course, no sympathy is necessary for the girl, since there are no consequences for her lying.
-
Rhetorical question: What's the point of an age of consent if you're just going to pick some arbitrary number you consider acceptable? I wrote up a moderately long response but meh, gonna just tl;dr it. I think that, if it were possible, things of this nature (age of consent, consumption of alcohol, driving, etc) should be determined on a person to person basis. Since that's not possible, the "arbitrary" number should be tailored to the lowest common denominator. I just happen to think that 16 is too low. I'm no expert though, so my opinion is nothing more than that. I agree, I think 18 is the best all-around age. :S Be really careful. Definitely check her id. If you guys do anything, even if it's consensual and she lies about her age, you're [bleep]ed. See: http://abcnews.go.com/US/19-year-spend-25-years-registered-sex-offender/story?id=32783206

Here's an interesting video about internet in Romania (ignore the ridiculous intro lol) Perhaps the same thing applies to cellular service?

$35 (including tax) for unlimited texting, local calls, and data. I'm with one of the newest carriers though so the coverage is garbage compared to the big 3
