  1. Hell yeah, that's an awesome live album. Pink Floyd - A Pillow of Winds
  2. Kinda power-metalish in my opinion, like Norther, Machinae Supremacy and Children of Bodom. ah I don't have a metal fan. So, let's see. I'll recommend you Enter Shikari. No idea of where to start with them seeing as I only have one album. (and apologies if you've already heard of them)
  3. Power loss is both annoying and unpredictable, unfortunately.
  4. Dark Tranquillity - 22 Acacia Avenue Cool cover.
  5. I'll try it. I love jazz, especially free jazz. It's hard recommending you stuff seeing as we listen to really similar things. (and thus know some of the bands in those genres) But do check out Warning. Some of the most crushing, amazing traditional doom metal I've heard in a while. Plus, they're from England. Doom is the only thing my country ever did right. :| Apart from whatever The Prodigy is.
  6. As How2 said the newer stuff is too sweet, but older R&B is good.
  7. Seconding the recommendation of Symphony X. Excellent band. How about something non-metal. I'll say Bloc Party; some Brit-indie rock. Start with Silent Alarm.
  8. Agreed apart from NIN. Don't really like them. Just finished off Dream Theater's "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory". I love that album. Now listening to "The Gallery" by Dark Tranquillity.
  9. AC/DC - Anything Goes Pretty awesome album.
  10. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - East Hastings
  11. Minefield. And for stuff that breaks in that I use Opera. (read: pretty much everything)
  12. Doom is nothing like death also, unles you're thinking of funeral doom (Esoteric etc.) Traditional doom metal is a slower version of traditional heavy metal and NWoBHM bands, such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath (this band started traditional doom), and Judas Priest. It's characterized by crushing riffs, operatic vocals and usually very long song lengths. Bands include: Reverend Bizarre - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QUz6zNkMj_Y Candlemass - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6Spu7FWs8ik Warning - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2FMr61LyEV0 Solitude Aeturnus - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gw_USb2EysU so awesome.
  13. Warning - Watching from a Distance Holy [cabbage] this is awesome.
  14. Anime is never to be taken seriously. That's why I watch it, for something really really silly.
  15. All you're ever like is 'wat trollin' and you seem to glorify trolling a forum made for fans of an MMORPG. That's not only annoying, that's pathetic. People like you are the #1 reason that I [bleep]ing hate the Internet. Get out. ____ You won't be able to update a graphics card on a laptop because they're usually soldered onto the motherboard, I'm afraid. And if you're still overheating, get a can of compressed air and take off the back of the laptop and blow the dust using that, or you could blow it out yourself.
  16. I once had a different problem (skipping/cracking audio) and reinstalling the drivers sorted it out for me, so do indeed try that.
  17. Shota, loli, it's all a bit 'hmmmm....' to me.. Put bluntly some people use the excuse of anime for their paedophile urges (I once knew a guy like that in an IRC server) which I honestly find disgusting; I watch anime for enjoyment, not to [bleep] to children. in before inevitable crapstorm and HUUUUUR DUUUUURRR
  18. Not a bad album if you like lo-fi indie rock.
  19. Heh, Atheist is probably the best example of a tech-death band. Death, well, they're ok I suppose. Also, lol Tool as prog metal example. Not that they're horrible or anything, but there's less generic bands that are more prog that you could use, e.g. Ayreon, Strapping Young Lad (HELL YEAH YOU [bleep]ING SUCK) or Pain of Salvation. And prog isn't necessarily guitar-led, lots of prog bands alternate between drums, keyboard and guitar often. Dream Theater is guitar/keyboard alternating, whereas Ayreon has the emphasis on the vocalists, and Opeth has the emphasis on twin guitar attacks and jazz-influenced playing.
  20. Well I got rid of mine because the software broke on me, but I signed up again today. I'll post it when I've listened to more music, what's on there now doesn't represent the full spectrum of my musical tastes. Oh, and the group leader didn't create a forum. >:| I think we need one on the group.
  21. My Bloody Valentine - I Can See It (But I Can't Feel It) Isn't Anything is a great album, and now that's finished: Moccasin - Ezra's Ghost

    The Mainstream

But in comparison to the music scene here (no idea of what it's like in Portugal), which is made up of Brit-indie rock and pop, prog rock/metal isn't considered "mainstream" if we're talking about the respective cultures and such. But on a global scale, and most importantly, in the long-term, the prog rock/metal bands are more popular due to the fact that they maintain a steady listener base, versus the "one-hit wonder" chart toppers that often die out after a while. There's Internet mainstream and real-life mainstream also - what's popular on here isn't usually spoken about at all in real life unless you know people that are into that sort of music.
