  1. I was, at one point, considering adding defense to my ID, but at the moment I'm still raising it's main combat levels (range and magic). So far I'm at 62 range and 63 magic. A duel? I'll let you know when I'm ready xD I'm working on cleaning up the walkthrough so thanks for asking :)
  2. I only ask for you to read the end of the guide. The end result would be my character having 70 range / magic, 38 hp with a combat score of 43 (did I mention 40 attack and 50 strength?) Oh and you can check out my stats on my signature Thanks
  3. One flaw to this is that once you put something in, for instance something worth 30gp each You end up selling so many and then the maximum price dips below your asking price. In addition to that, if you have thousands bidding, it may not go above your asking price if it's still in there. There must be a better way.. hmmm... *smrik*
  4. First lets get through the requirements. P2P Magic 55 or higher Thieving 28 or higher Fletching 70 or higher Woodcutting 60 or higher Any combat level, any HP. This will raise xp for Magic, Thieving, Fletching, and Woodcutting (and farming if you want to grow some stuff near the bank at Catherby). Also you should start with 100 bow strings in your bank to be used later. STEP ONE Steal 100 Nats This should be self explanatory. Go to Ardounge and steal 100 nats. If you want, bring your nats to the bank in two or three trips. If you avoid random events you won't die. Also to save time, bring 1 law and 5 airs so you can teleport back to Camelot. Steal some cakes if you want before you start stealing the nats if you have low hp. REWARD 2500 Thieving xp STEP TWO Cut / Fletch / String / Alc / Cut / Fletch * 5 Go to the bank and withdraw a fire staff, axe, knife, 20 nature runes and 20 bow string. You should have five spaces free. Cut yews, fletch, string them and repeat. Keep on doing that until you've strung most or all of them and alch them. When you've alched all of them, keep on cutting and fill up your inventory with yew logs, and fletch them again into yew longs (u). You're bound to get random event stuff so don't keep anything thats not worth much. Go back to the bank and put the money and yew long (u) in the bank. Do this five times. You will end up with 76800 from alching at the end if you do 100 nats. REWARD 6500 Magic xp 39375 Woodcutting xp 41250 Fletching xp STEP THREE Grand Exchange The only thing you should have left is 125 Yew Longs (u) and 76.8K. Sell your Yew Longs and buy back the money you spent on bow string. When all is said and done, you should get around 50k for your longs and it will take 20k to buy back your bowstring. You will have anywhere between 100k to 110k at the end. total xp gained 2500 thieving xp 6500 Magic xp 39375 Woodcutting xp 41250 Fletching xp Thats it! Takes a while but worth the the effort. Some people may prefer to make or buy nature runes as well as picking their own flax etc. I have a 10hp so I'm not taking that route. I guess you'd still make nearly 100k if you made bought your nats and made an extra trip. Biggest lesson to learn is to string your longs! LOG OF EVENTS [hide=Click to read]6:11 Ardounge Tele, stole a few cakes, began stealing nats. 6:36 Stole 72 nats so far, no interruptions (just one quick random event - sandwich lady). 6:45 Teleport to Camelot, run to bank. Deposited 100 nats and 300 gold. Take out WC items, knife, 20 bow string and 20 nats. Run to yews south of Camelot. 6:47 Logged out for quick break 35 minutes 8:27 Logged in. Began yew cuttage 8:48 Finished first yew run, bank run 8:50 Started second yew run. 9:04 Freaky Forester 9:10 Finished second yew run, bank run 9:11 Started third yew run 9:26 Yet another random event 9:35 Finished third yew run, bank run 9:37 Logged out for another break 70 minutes 10:24 Logged in. Started cutting yews for the fourth time. 10:40 Finished fourth yew run, bank run 10:41 Last run for yews 10:58 Finished the last run for yews. Ran to bank 10:59 Tele to Varrock 11:00 Teleport to GE. Sell 125 yew longs (+50k), Buy 100 bow string (-19k) gained 30k + 76k = 106k! 36 minutes (took less time because there were fewer people this late) Total time spent = 141 minutes[/hide]
  5. "My pure goes across the room, and starts to drink your ..." This is a guide for those of you who want to try something new. This isn't your normal pure guide. First I must mention that many many many items and gold etc will be necessary for those of you who are willing to do this. You might end up cutting lots of trees or crafting lots of runes if you get my drift. Also, in this guide, you should try to keep your HP at 10HP for the first few steps of the guide (not indefinately). It is a challenge after all. ** Disclaimer ** Please note that this is not only a guide for making a pure, it is also a challenge. There is no need to engage in battle with this kind of character until the very end. You will essentially be 'stacking' your combat stats for the long haul. ** Disclaimer ** But enough talk, lets make a pure shall we? STEP ONE Quests, Supplies and Mobilization [hide=Click to expand]Create your character and get started on three quests. IMP CATCHER (Magic XP) WITCH'S POTION (More Magic XP) RUNE MYSTERIES (You'll need this) Before we do anything. Go to the dummies in Varrock and train your Attack. You won't gain any HP, and you will be able to attack to just about level 6 or 7 (maybe 8). This will all make sense shortly, but it's important that you do this first. Oh, and don't use that genie lamp yet. ;) The quests are easy. Make some money, buy the beads, kill a rat, and start Rune Mysteries. This might as well be the easiest part of the guide. Do not attack anything other than the rat (and the dummies in Varrock)! Next, you should start making runes. Much has changed since I started playing the game. Before GE you could buy talismans for 4gp each and silver tiaras for 40gp each. Now, a talisman on GE can go for 400gp+ (Before enchanted tiaras, we just held our talismans in our hands). Enchanting talismans is probably the fastest way to get your RC from level 1 to 20. If you have time to spare, pick up body talismans (they yield the highest xp in F2P) that you see on the ground. Considering buying talismans if you want to invest in making your RC level higher. You can get to level 20 with only 120 body tiaras even from level 1. You're gonna need a couple thousand body runes and just as many more water and earth runes, in addition to an earth and water staff, choose the one that works best, and have both in case--. Now it's time to put those runes to use![/hide] STEP TWO Cursed Chickens and a Big Blast to a Vampire! [hide=Click to expand]Remember that genie lamp? Use it on your attack now. Take a number of runes with you and go south of Falador to the fence where the chickens are hiding. You can curse each and every one of them (sometimes twice!). You'll notice your magic xp raising relatively steadily. After a while you can curse them again. You won't gain HP and your combat level will rise slowly. By the time that your magic level is at least 29, stop. You'll be coming back here, but for now, you're going to do one more quest. Quests: VAMPIRE SLAYER You'll need food, a staff and mage clothing, chaos runes and air runes if you want to pull this off easily while only having 10HP. Luckily you should be able to cast at the least Earth Bolt. He won't last long. Do this and you should be anywhere from 25 - 30 Attack while still having 10HP. From this point on, all genie lamps should be used on your attack. Keep on cursing chickens until your magic is at or above level 43. There is no bonus (ie, they won't drop anything) to killing chickens, so I would recommend using your own crafted runes.[/hide] STEP THREE The Road to 50~55 Magic and a slight detour [hide=Click to expand]Now you have a main goal of getting 50 to 55 magic, while still having 10 hp. This is possible, and you might benefit from two useful spells. Aside from cursing, you should be able to cast superheat item. I would recommend getting started on as many other non-combat skills as possible. The most important being woodcutting, but mining and smithing are also important. Superheat item is a good way to (albeit slowly) increase your magic. You get the benefit of making bars of iron / steel / mithril without having to leave the mining site. To make various bars, take 20 nature runes and 20 iron, go mine coal, come back with 20 steel bars. It's tedious but it's also part of the challenge! I managed to get myself to 62 smithing and 53 magic this way. Cursing, rather than casting superheat, might take less time, but I can't verify that. Luckily, nature runes have decreased from 300gp each to 220gp or so. If you're magic has gone to about 55, more or less, and you think you can't take it any longer, then this guide simply isn't meant for you. Much much much more in planned! If you plan on going to the next section of the guide, it's important to superheat- you will need a few hundred, maybe a thousand or so steel bars. Superheat as many steel bars as you can and horde them in your bank. If you can get your magic to at least 50 magic, then great! Head over to the next section.[/hide] STEP FOUR The Big Decision [hide=Click to expand]Of course, I would recommend you become a member, even for a few months. If you do become a member, I would hope that the following stats are at the least above 50 -Smithing, Mining, Woodcutting Crafting and Runecrafting should be high but 50 is pushing it. It would probably be best to wait until after you've reached these goals. You will need money, and you will need so many steel bars. Between cutting wood and fletching, among other things, start raising enough money to buy a cannon... yes a cannon. Quests: Death Plateau Plague City Biohazard Dwarf Cannon (Optional) Waterfall Quest Let's make sure you got your Attack to 30. Death Plateau can get your attack there, and.. well you won't die. Do that quest and then buy yourself a Poison Addy Dagger. Next you'll want to do Plague City and Biohazard. Just complete the quests like you normally would. When it comes time to kill that guy, try to poison him! He will die, you complete the quest, you won't gain hp. OPTIONAL - WATERFALL QUEST While it is possible and only requires you to run away from a few nasty monster that can deal 10 points of damage, it is very challenging. It has been done- This should bring your attack very close to 40. After a few genie lamps and such you will be able to wield a rune axe or pick axe. Great for the 10hp skiller xD. ---- I finally got through this quest. If you have 10 hp, the trick is carrying lots of food and having 100% run energy. Crowded worlds are also a plus. I didn't have any problems with the fire giants, but be careful of the moss giants. Your attack level will be so close to 40 that it will take a week or two worth of playing to get it there.. more or less. It all depends on how many lamps you can get. Put them to use and get your attack to 40! Now it's time to raise money and get that cannon (and you it in King Lathas' training ground!)[/hide] STEP FIVE Boom! [hide=Click to expand]Since you've completed Biohazard, you can now set up your cannon in the Ardounge training area. You'll have plenty of targets and you won't have to worry about getting yourself killed. Do this until you reach level 40. You should know how to do it, but I world recommend making stops at the bank every few levels. Buy the best range material you can get for your level, and wear it. A higher chance to hit means more experience and less wasted cannonballs Once you reach level 40, you can use the target practice area in the range guild. It's 200gp each, and you get xp and tickets based on how well you play. Tickets are profitable, you can sell them back in GE, so it is more affordable than buying steel bars or cannonballs. Just like when you were using cannonballs, buy the best equipment you can afford. Green, blue, red dragonhide, and a magic bow is a must. I even went so far as buying a dark bow at level 62. While you're in this area, you may also want to increase your agility. Just a thought. Agility will help on both P2P and F2P worlds, even if you cease to be a member. It's a fun perk! It may take a while, it may be tedious, but I would recommend 60 to 70 range and magic... or higher. At the moment I am trying to get both 70 magic and range before I touch my hit points. I'll explain the reason in the next section.[/hide] THE INTENSE DETAIL Math, Statistics, and other good stuff There is much more to this walkthrough, but at the moment my pure still has 10hp and is level 63 range and 64 magic. I plan on raising my hit points AFTER I make 70 range and magic. You can check out my signature to see where I am at the moment. Call me a skiller if you'd like. I'm non-combat until I have the necessary amount of hit points to keep me from getting killed. Pictures coming soon too. To get to the point, the ultimate goal of my character, even after gaining some HP would be... ..If I did the math right, ATT = 40 STR = 50 DEF = 1 HP = 35 - 38 MAG = 70 RNG = 70 PRAY = 1 (I have 9, costs me 1 combat level or so) Combat level = 43 Benefits- Although I have peanuts for defense, My high magic stat will help against mages (time tested fact that your magic stat aides in suppressing magic damage). Overall, I'll have less HP, but I'll also have a very high damage capability. In fact, if my range and magic levels were 1, I would have a combat level of 39. One would not expect that I would be able to deal massive damage. Since I added the Waterfall Quest, I have changed my calculations. It's possible to reach 50 strength while only having 35 HP. Of course, this wouldn't affect your combat score so much. You will gain a combat level once you reach 38 HP. I'm also considering raising my prayer to 45. This will be easy (might be expensive). Unfortunately, it's tough to go through most of the world with 10HP. Even mining is a problem. If your rock explodes, you deal damage. So if your combat level is around 20 or 30, and you still have 10HP, you die instantly if your rock explodes. Player Killing is not an option until you've gained HP. But it would be apparent that it's best to gain HP using melee combat. When your magic level and/or range level exceeds your attack or strength, gaining levels in either attack or strength will not affect your combat level (only HP levels will effect your combat!).
  6. I was thinking more like.... something a bit faster?
  7. If it's possible, whats the best way to go about this? At the moment I'm at 20 thieving, I'm going after HAM because they drop clue scrolls. Any other recommendations? My priority would be good xp followed by good rewards. I want to stay away from areas that might get me killed xD
  8. OK yeah, In that case I'll craft my sapphire and emerald gems into jewelery and wait until I can do something with ruby and diamond. At best it just might be fun to use them ;)
  9. Now I am recently hearing that pures will be dead with the new world wide wilderness coming through in the future, this might be true, but lets forget that fact shall we? Also my prototype character for this is a P2P member, but eventually I will go back to F2P for the sake of PKing. Therefore all PKing is on F2P. I haven't PKed yet with this character because he's still in 'training' Read away! I am in the process of making a nasty somewhat low level pure of my own right now. At the moment I have a Combat level of 34, 63 Magic and 62 Range- as well as 31 Attack (--! I just did a couple quests and after 10 or so TOK and Genie lamps, I've gotten this far !--) All this and I still have 10 HP, which means, more room to beef up my attack and strength without having an overloaded HP level. --- How about if I set a goal. I plan on raising my magic and range to 70. This would put my combat level at 37. Also I should note that my prayer is at 9. I then plan on raising my attack to 40 That would require 22856 xp assuming that I don't get any lamps. One quarter of that XP would be devoted to HP, so my HP score would go from 10 to 22. My Combat score would be at 40-- my pure would look something like this. ATT 40 STR 1 DEF 1 RNG 70 MAG 70 PRY 9 HP 22 Still room to grow right? So now I would increase my STR. If I brought my STR level up to 50 (from 0 xp), my HP would rise to 38, leaving me with ATT 40 STR 50 DEF 1 RNG 70 MAG 70 PRY 9 HP 38 ...and a combat score of 44 So I know I can definately do this but what do you think. As a pure, how would I fare? I would have over all low HP BUT I would also have a low combat score. I could easily take out a rune scimmy and start dealing the damage to a mage who tried to run away from me (mind you I also plan on having 50+ agility which crosses over in F2P)
  10. I've been interested in this but honestly is it really effective? I have been hording sapphies, emeralds, rubies and diamonds to be used in making enchanted bolts but I should wait until I get some feed back I guess Thoughts?
  11. Considering that most people on P2P cut yews and make yew longs with them, you could...... ... mine addy and high alc them for 240 each xD But isn't that just a waste of good ore?
  12. What should be my goal for HP?
  13. Thanks for the guide. Now that my smithing level is 60 I'm considering blast furnace. I have been making grapple hooks and they sell relatively well (like I said it's only a 10% loss). My goal is to be able to make addy arrows for F2P PKing.
  14. I have a F2P pure, but I have been on P2P for some time to make the most of the stats that cross over in F2P (such as agility), and I'm also trying to stock up on mithril / addy arrows At the moment I have 63 Magic, 62 Range, 30 Attack and base stats for everything else (including 10 HP). I will eventually increase my HP stats, but I wonder what I should do next. Should I continue to get 70 Magic or Range before I increase my HP or should I start training it now. I also have 31 Agility. Any Suggestions?
  15. I started my first account in March of 2004. I check it every so often to and get bored and go back to my current account. Nothing ever changes. Seems that you should be fine, just set all your passwords or even change your passwords from time to time if possible. I do wonder if Jagex deleted those stupid macro bots from way back when. Those severely corrupted the high scores IMO (and the rest of the game for that matter). --- One thing to mention, if you are considering going from P2P to F2P, you might have an overcrowded bank. This has happened to many members in the past. You won't be able to store anything in your bank if you're above the limit. It would probably be best to sell/drop (party room or whatever) members items before returning to the F2P if you wish to continue playing on a F2P world. Alternatively you could store nearly every F2P item (with a minimum of two each) in your bank before returning to P2P. Just keep in mind that you should never take out 'all' (thank you Jagex for the 'all but one' option!) With this method, you wouldn't have to worry about losing precious items from your bank.
  16. I still think there is lots of wasted money in making iron knives. Even a mithril plate body retains less than 60% - 70% of it's value (ie, it sells in GE for around 3.5K, yet mith bars are nearly 1k each). So far there is only one item that I know of that is working... I can retain about 90% of the price and buy back my mithril bars- only losing 10%. But it's tedious to make and I want to try something different.
  17. Might not be the fastest way but you could either use nature runes / fire staff and smith your way up to 52 magic. Alternatively you could buy what you need to smith (coal / iron / mithril whatever) and do it all near a bank. Nats are cheaper than laws and you'll get more xp - you just gotta buy your raw materials. There is one more suggestion that is fun to watch. Curse! South of Fally there is a pen house with lots of chickens. Rather than going inside, stand on the other side of the fence and just blast them with curse. Kill them off if you desire when you can't curse them anymore but after a while the curse spell wears off and you can do it again. Overall this is the 'cheapest' method, especially if you can RC body runes. In fact these curse spells are great for low level mages too.
  18. I've been smithing mithril (with nature runes) but it's taking so long and I can't seem to get my money back. Anyone have a suggestion of what I can do. I'm on P2P. Thanx
