Yeah, I agree- with a toggle or something like that. If it's too personal to them, then they can turn it off. -
Zemouregal and the Staff of Armadly + Mahjaratt Speculation
jirenma2001us replied to benar's topic in General Discussion
There are Zaros and Zamorak Mahjaratts heading north, I would assume that they are having their own final battle OR they want to assassinate Zamorak. Let's face it, no matter who they pledge allegiance to, they're all power hungry. And what about the shield. I think in Part 2 (or 4) of the Arrav lore, the dwarves mention that the shield can protect against ancient magicks- specialty of the Mahjaratts. And if you haven't read my post by now, take a look. Lots of compiled information from lores and in-game activity on topic. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=762750 -
Next skill that's officially been killed - Prayer
jirenma2001us replied to XxTearGodxX's topic in General Discussion
So prayer has taken the same route as fletching... and smithing... and crafting... and cooking... This aside, someone once told me I was a noob for burying bones. Apparently he thought that there were alternatives 4 years ago. -
I'm curious about the cannon in general. I hear people using it to prevent the CB from healing, but if they're not wearing range boosting armor, it's never gonna hit! If you do plan on teaming it with a cannon, I would probably recommend the cannon person to max our his range and ... well max out anything else that can prevent damage. Chance to hit in this case is probably most important.

Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
Of course, that scenario is maybe 1% likely, but we don't know what Arrav's disposition will be, aside that he will be "the fall of Varrock". He could be a slave against his will. But over 1300 years have past. By the way, I should point out this- Arrav is most likely in some sort of undead form. Like other undead, he could be mindless. He could be able to reason, an if he is freed, it could lead to a weakness in Zemouregal. It is the shield that Zemouregal wants. In fact, any one of these Mahjarrats probably want this shield, including Zaros (hes not a Mahjarrat). It's very possible that Zaros, or any one of the Mahjarrat wants to take Zamorak's place because they know that with the shield, they can do that (The shield protects from Ancient Magicks). But on topic- I know much of this is related, we know that Zemouregal and Arrav will be on their way. We also know that there is plenty of information in RS lore and in game that can lead to clues about what may happen. I don't know if all post bag posts are correct, but there have also been some interesting posts there too. -
Yeah definitely luring falls under PM and has everything to do with pking. This is the scenario. You are walking around Varrock and some girl sends you a pm- "Hey can you help my friend, hes in level 20 Wilderness and I think hes in trouble" To which you go with this girl to level 20 wilderness and 5 people including the girl own you and you lose all your stuff. Similarly this has happened. You are walking around Varrock and a girl says "Hey, wanna be my bf and go fight together in wildy?" You say sure, why not, I won't make a commitment, it's just for the moment. But by the time you get to level 30 wilderness- and by the time you get a skull on your head, your so called gf and 5 other guys own you Now, as far as addressing the "safe spot" luring problem for monsters, definitely not against the rules, but Jagex definitely needs to increase their AI so they can walk around a silly rock. I prefer not calling them safe spots, they're more like cheap shots.

When is that new quest coming out?
jirenma2001us replied to TheHunted616's topic in General Discussion
I have a vision... ...the next quest is gonna be called Defender of Varrock and it's gonna involve Arrav... Or you can just read my own little post. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=762750 And who knows, for all we know, the quest might have to be postponed if they haven't completed all of the bug fixes. Until then :XD: -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
I might want to ask... why is the Shield of Arrav being held in the museum...? And- as you have pointed out, some person picked up this shield, but I must mention that this isn't any old person. I'll copy and paste some of the lore, going backwards so I can explain this. Is there a significance to this 16 year old boy?? Let's remember that if he were to be 16 at this time, he would be very old to this day. Also, none of the other elders knew of the Shield of Arrav, so how come this person's grandfather knew? There must be significance with this person. Judging from the timeline, this person should be approximately... 1375 years old.. if he is alive today. And what about the elder? Did Zemouregal visit his dreams as well and tell him about the shield? If Zemouregal did not visit his dreams, why does he know? What, if anything, is he hiding? Here is one more thing- Coupled with the fact that the Imcando stated (as I recall) that the shield should never fall into the wrong hands- ie Zemouregal. Don't forget, the Mahjarrat fight amongst each other. Here are the many possibilities. - A vicious battle between Zaros and Zamarokian Mahjarrat, and Zemouregal wants to be on the winning side, thus the Shield of Arrav. - Zemouregal wants to become a god and kill Zamorak, the Shield of Arrav must be necessary in this. - Anything else could be possible. Who knows, Arrav himself might want to become a god, kill both Zamorak and Zemouregal, and become a god- leading a new legacy of evil. Anything could be plausible, but I suspect that something crazy will happen if the shield gets into the hands of a Mahjarrat. -

understandable if this can be confirmed. I never needed to recover my account so, I don't know of this. edit: If this is so, then maybe JAGEX should try something new for recovering accounts- something better than remembering when you started. That being said, it's only one point of detail. I'm sure if Jagex were to make this a feature, they'd amp the current recovery system. -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
Good theory. I would say that, Zemoregal may not use ancient magicks. The reason is because he along with Zamorak defiled Zaros- the god who was responsible for the Ancient Magicks in the first place. We know that the shield has many powers, most of them unknown. Among one of them was the ability to turn ALL of the undead into dust. Arrav threw the shield in the air and it was caught by one of the elders grandsons. Either that person knew the enchantment for the shield, or something happened to the shield while it was hurled into the sky. I think this elder, and his grandson need to be explored more closely. There is plenty of information in Arrav's lore. -
In my opinion, Jagex needs to work on AI issues. If a boss is truly going to be a challenge, it should be able to avoid 'cheap shots'. Honestly I find it sad that most monsters can't maneuver around a rock so it can attack it's target. I know some people swear by using obstacles, but at least the monsters should be able to put up a fair fight. Most of these guides you see typically examine the cheap spots of a given monster so people can effectively kill it. I anticipate this kind of update soon: The Corporeal Best has grown a sharp dislike to cannons, and will do whatever it takes to destroy them. This would be hardcore.

Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
Let's just anticipate that the update is gonna be by the end of the month, but prepare for it as if it will be tomorrow. In my case, it's all about the storyline and what changes (if any) the game might go through. I wonder if this will be the quest that will open up the PVP worlds. In other news, again I'm updating more information on the main post of the topic. Read through. If you have history from the RS site that you want to share, send them over! Provide links if possible. If you know of something in game, that would be great too. Thanks for posting -
I never realized how big of a problem autoing had become.
jirenma2001us replied to Mucky's topic in General Discussion
Just a reminder of the past :) I would have to say that I'm glad after a year of these new updates that Autoers are pretty much gone. Little did we know that Jagex was preparing for secure trades and the Grand Exchange. Now, we're dealing with price manipulation, but really, what was worse than autoers hording every possible yew tree you could find (and buying out all of the feathers on the F2P world?) -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
This was taken from Post Bag 28. There's a post about the Mahjarrat and what they might be doing now. I think the post was created from a RS regular but for all I know, it could be mostly fact. If we take the details seriously, that would mean that the Mahjarrat Hazeel, Lucien, Enakhra and Zemouregal are all aligned with Zamorak. Where there is Zemouregal, there is Arrav. If we stick with the basic Arrav story line, then we can make a conclusion that Zemouregal will lead an army of undead to Varrock. But- If we look at this piece of information, one could imagine something much larger in comparison. Zamorakian and Zaronian Mahjarrats are overwhelmingly going to the north, I presume to the Wilderness. Why is this? I don't want to speculate too much but if this is true it will add to the storyline. This post is larger than it seems, click the hidden tab to read Post Bag 28 [hide=Click to Expand] [/hide] -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
I have gone through the first of many updates to the first page of this post. Thanks again for everyone who contributed. I agree with you about it probably having no connection to lunar diplomacy. As far as the spirit realm and the dream realm is concerned, what we know is this- This could be complete speculation, but the only way you can kill a tortured spirit is to be wearing full black armor and wielding a black weapon. So is it a coincidence that Zemouregal is also decked out in black armor? Could the Land of Dreams and the Spirit Realm be one in the same? -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
[hide=] Aka the dude in the right is arrav! And i bet in this quest we'll have to either kill him or kill both of them! And maybe we take the shield of arrav that we discovered in that noob ftp quest and use it [/hide] You posted this right before I had the chance to! I noticed that myself. It proves that Jagex has been given this considerable thought, and that we will face an enemy like no other. Here is some more info that I dug up. At the moment I'm working on a time line so we can better figure out everything... First of all, when Arrov threw the shield into the air, something happened- we know that the undead all crumbled into dust. How it happened, there is no conclusion but either it was the shield itself, the person who grabbed the shield, or something else. That leaves some unanswered questions, like, what is the true power of the Shield of Arrav? Did it get blessed while it was airborne? Is there a true bearer for the shield or possibly a true resting spot for it (to protect Varrock)? And who is this person who grabbed the shield? -
I actually saw an ad for runescape on the Java website back in 2004. I think it was around the time I heard of Open Office. This was before miniclip. It was a good idea- get people who love computers interested in a good game. Back then, I think Runescape consisted of mostly high school and college aged students. Miniclip changed a lot but overall I think us older folk are more strategic (if you are young and feel that you are strategic, then bravo). The game has largely gone from strategic to power hitting / best weapon. Now that we have spirit shields, no longer will the 2 hander be so valuable.

Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
[hide=Quote from Warlover] [/hide] Thanks for the photo. It seems like Jagex has been thinking about this story line since before 2007 then. Is there only one quest that can be "worked on" at a time? exactly. also, it actually might be part of the massive 150th quest, what leads you to thte fact that it cant be? If the quest's gonna be massive, why can't there be several parts to it? I think Cheefoo124 has got it right, Jagex probably works on numerous quests at once. It could be a multi-part quest such as recipe for disaster, or it could be a long, long, long quest with various things in between. Fact check- he didn't defeat Zemouregal. He used the shield to save Avvarocka. I'm not speculating on new weapons, armor, etc, I'm thinking about the story line so if possible why don't we keep it at that. I think the Spirit of Summer quest and End of Summer have some relevancy to this- the so called land of dreams. I think there are other story lines as well, not limited to the ones I had mentioned (in fact I still am looking for more possibilities, if anyone is willing to take a shot. Zemouregal had mentioned that he wanted to 'take back' the land where Avvarocka was on. I remember during the Dig Site quest that there was once a possible city older than Avvarocka at the same site, which might have been Zemouregal's old kingdom. Maybe he wants it back. Maybe he wants to bring back Zaros? -
First of all, here is the quest right here. http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1430 [hide=Runescape]Captain Rovin is eager to recruit a bold adventurer for a scouting mission to the Wilderness. There's talk among the Varrock Guard of suspicious zombie behaviour and sightings of well-armoured zombies standing in organised formations. This isn't normal behaviour for zombies - they're much more likely to wander around aimlessly when left to their own devices. Could someone be controlling them? There are tales of evil beings leading zombie armies in the past, and when they have, the city of Varrock has come under great peril, only standing firm through the brave resolve of the people and heroes of the city. This could become much more than a simple scouting mission. "Its a long time since Ive written a quest and Ive been working on this for a while now, so Im excited about this update. "Ive created lots of back-story about RuneScape over the years so its good to have the opportunity to reveal more of it through my own quests. You may have noticed that the Legend of Arrav has some loose ends and I felt it was time to address those. Ive tried hard to create a quest with some interesting puzzles and an exciting storyline. I hope you enjoy it."[/hide] And here are the qualifications: [hide=Click to reveal]Talk to Captain Rovin in the north-west tower of Varrock Palace. Requirements to complete the Defender of Varrock quest: Level 51 Agility Level 51 Hunter Level 54 Smithing Level 59 Mining Shield of Arrav The Knight's Sword Romeo and Juliet Demon Slayer Temple of Ikov The Family Crest What Lies Below Garden of Tranquillity Able to fight multiple level 85 enemies Claim Varrock Museum kudos for completing Shield of Arrav Willing to brave the dangers of revenants in the Wilderness Reading the Legend of Arrav in the Lores and Histories will give you a better appreciation of the storyline of the quest.[/hide] Many of us have speculated about this quest since I posted this message. Here it is! I wonder what relevance this quest has to Romeo and Juliet. That amazes me. Also, could the family crest quest be the missing link to the Elder's son who claimed the shield after Arrav threw it to protect Avvarocka? I won't be doing this quest, so I won't be able to participate in the storyline as of yet, but much history will be revealed. All posts of this nature are welcomed. Below is the old post. There is plenty of history in Runescape, and during the last behind the scenes look at September 2008, we were told of a new quest, Defender of Varrock. Apparently this quest will be filled with lots of skeletons and zombies, and a whole lot of history. There must be previous quests that are relevant to this new quest (All Fired Up and Shield of Arrav, for instance), but there are probably some that may be relevant that we might not know about. Traditionally, Jagex would release updates sometime between Monday and Tuesday of any given week. I've noticed that this hasn't been so in recent months, but something will be released in the next coming weeks for sure! I have started by taking bits and pieces of news and historical lore together so we can attempt to decipher what might happen next to Varrock in the next week or two or three. There are lots of questions, for instance, why is Zemouregal wearing black armor, and why do we have to wear black armor when we fight tortured souls. Why or how did the Shield of Arrav destroy the undead that plauged Avvarrocka during the Fourth Age? Anyway- read the lore, post anything you find that might help, kudos to everyone who has helped thus far! Most of the detail can be found below. ARRAV LORE I compiled lore from the Arrav on the Runescape Website. There's some passages that are of significance. [hide=Click to Expand] [/hide] THE FATE OF AVVAROCKA Because some people have been confused about what really happened, I decided to slip this in. In a nutshell, Arrav tossed his shield into the sky and it landed near a young man. At some point, for reasons not explained, the undead crumbled to dust. [hide=Click to Expand] [/hide] THE NEXT QUEST It seems that this is the next quest Jagex is working on. There have been lots of hints and I think that the End of Summer quest, Shield of Arrav, and All Fired Up play a major role. There must be other quests so if you think you may know, reply with your ideas. Also, kudos to Warlover, Smavey and DenUsynlige for pointing out a great some previously released pictures... [hide=Click for Pictures] [/hide] I think we can confirm that Arrav is a slave to Zemouregal. ZEMOUREGAL AND TORTURED SOULS What we know, Zemouregal seems to be clad in all black and visited Arrav in the dream world. I have heard some people talking about killing tortured souls, and that the only way inflict damage upon them is to be wearing all black. I wonder if there is any relevancy here. It seems that we will be facing the Mahjarrat, Zemouregal, and Arrav (in his undead form?). Also, part of the runescape news article said "leave no stone unturned". I wonder if this corresponds to the many statues 'staring' about. There are some all over the runescape continent, do they already belong to an existing quest? A TIMELINE Here is the timeline from the Third Age to the Present in Runescape. There is at least one significant feature here. First, from the Timeline, we can come up with a guess that Arrav is approximately 1270 years old. [hide=Click to Expand]3rd Age --- God Wars 3rd Age --- yr 3740 Zamorkian city of Senntisten was settled east of Varrock (could be unrelated). Followers seemed to follow Zaros. 3rd Age --- yr 3804 Saradominist city of Saranthium was settled, god wars were coming to an end (again, this could be unrelated) 4th Age --- 4th Age --- yr 700 - 800. Shield of Arrav Lore. Approximately the time when Avvarocka was settled 4th Age --- yr 1937 Lumbridge Established (We have an idea how long the 4th Age lasted, and that it is infact 2000 years long) 5th Age --- Current year, 169.[/hide]

I hear ya, Because price manipulation is part of a 'positive feedback loop', restrictions probably wouldn't change much. Rather than making more restrictions on GE, I believe Jagex should intervene so as to deter people from manipulating expensive items. If there something suspicious going on, Jagex should be able to drop (or raise) the price. Because of the nature of the manipulation; the fact that it is a positive feedback loop, having Jagex alter prices on manipulated items would be the best deterrent against the manipulators. Second would be applying GE bans to these manipulators, especially to the masterminds. Give them the ability to trade, but if they are messing with GE, they shouldn't be privileged to use it. Heck, maybe we should have a GE code of conduct. Disobey the rules and get a ban from using the GE.
-
The difference being that Yahoo stock holders hold on to the stock for an extended period of time, and there is still the risk, because not all analysts are correct and it always depends on who you're talking to. True the stock soared, but no one would have known the night before. The problem with GE is that, during manipulation, there is almost 100% certainty that the price will rise especially if it is a hot selling item. As far as GE and manipulation is concerned, it's all computer science related. Basically what starts out as a simple purchase becomes a full fledged Positive Feedback Cycle. This allows someone or a group of people to jack the price as much as they want over an extended period of time. When they want to stop the feedback cycle, they just drop the ball and the price of the item drops violently. No one to this present moment has mentioned Positive Feedback and I believe that this is where the problem lies.

I understand that you can only use black weapons and black armor etc but what is the story behind it? I like how Jagex is making challenging updates so thumbs up :)

What quest would you recommend next
jirenma2001us replied to jirenma2001us's topic in Help and Advice
..? When did I say PvP.. I said P2P (Pay to Play) Anyway, just completed Priest in Peril and still at 10hp. Might have done some other quests but can't think of them off the top of my head. -
But it's not like investing. When you buy out an item, it naturally goes up. There is no 'risk' in completely buying out an item- if you're able to completely buy out an item, software kicks in and the price naturally rises. This doesn't happen in real life- we're not governed by software. This is why we call this price manipulation, and not investing, not merchanting, not mass investing. As far as speculation is concerned, if you have a hunch that the price will rise and try to profit off of it, then it's ok. When it comes to large groups of people or one person with very deep pockets buying out items, it no longer becomes speculation. These are the people who alter the game and make a price rise in a way that is not natural. So do we change GE or do we punish these price manipulators?
