No Sex Please, We're Middle Class
Wait..I'm confused. Does Viagra actually give men sexual desire? I thought it just...ummm...helped them "pitch the tent"?

Greatest invention of all time.
Flint + steel. If I had to lose everything in my life except for one object, it would definitely be this. I would be truly happy in a world with no inventions, except for when it comes to fire. Starting a fire with a self made bow + fire board is unbearable. I suppose, if I wanted to be really thrifty, I would say that glasses were the best. That way I could see perfectly, and still be able to make an effort-free fire by using the lens. Flint+steel is really unbeatable though.

Jungian personality typing
The thinking/feeling category serves to determine how you make decisions. So lets consider a scenario. You are a parent, and your child steals something from the local store. A "feeling" based parent would say something like "Son, stealing is wrong" based on your personal feelings about whether the act is good or bad. A "thinking" based parent would not be able to make such an immediate conclusion. The thinker would analyze what store he stole from, what item he stole, and whether or not the specific act was appropriate or inappropriate. In order to be a 100% thinker, one would have to never set a series of guidelines to live by. This is my understanding of the trait, at least. I could be wrong. Also keep in mind that this hypothetical situation is just the two extremes of a situation. So for example, if you are only slightly more T than F, you would say something like "Son, stealing is wrong, but all you stole was a pack of gum, so I'm not that upset at you". A feeler, like myself, would be more likely to frown upon the act regardless of the details.

Jungian personality typing
I think the idea is that in your most primal or instinctive state of mind, you would hold others to standards of perfection. The test said the same thing about me, that I hold people to ridiculous standards that may detriment my personal relationships. However, over time, I have learned to value other's opinions and also to be proud of the effort that people put forth, regardless of whether or not it was perfect. So I don't think that the descriptions necessarily outline what you do in a real setting, but rather the way you might be inclined to think if you hadnt learned a more socially acceptable behavior somewhere along the lines. From posts that you have made in other threads, you appear to have a strong sense of morality if I remember correctly. Any type of response that involves morality will bring you more towards the F and less towards the T.

Jungian personality typing
Hey, first of all, if this is considered "advertising" or something, just go ahead and lock it or whatever. Anyway...so a long time ago, someone on the WoW Priest forums posted a link to a Jungian personality type test. I am usually skeptical of this type of thing, but I took it anyway and was suprised with the results. The test labeled me as an INFJ, a rare result (from what I've read). I was shocked, because the test took only minutes to complete, and described me perfectly. What was even more suprising, most Priests (especially healing priests) came back with similar personality profiles. Here is a link to a test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp And here is a link of the descriptions: http://www.personalitypage.com/html/high-level.html If you are interested, I highly reccomend trying the test out (don't read the descriptions of the personalities first...take the test first). It really helped me develop a sense of why I do the things that I do, and why I like the things that I like. Feel free to share your results here, and explain whether or not you feel like your result explains your personality, or maybe explains the types of games you like, characters you like to play, IRL job you have, etc. A brief description of my results: INFJ "The Protector". I love being kind and caring with people. I am usually more concerned with someone elses satisfaction rather than my own. I am persuing a career in teaching because I love helping people, and I have a high sense of empathy that helps me connect to people and understand their thinking. The most interesting thing is that INFJ is described as having a "sixth sense" about things. When I read this, my jaw dropped, because all my life I have had very strong "premonitions" about people, and have always had a gift for seeing through people's BS  Well this post turned out longer than I was expecting. Oh well, grats if you read it all.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
I just think it is really funny how the GE is such an old update now, but we are still having issues in the game because the system has still not been worked out. Seems to me that if I was Jagex I would rather spend my efforts on eliminating cheaters than by constantly re-balancing a flawed system that has such a choke hold on the game.

Muscle Milk
You sound confused... "Muscle milk" is not milk. It is a whey protein shake (same with EAS). I mean, whey IS a dairy product, made from milk, but the products are made from the whey. EAS actually also has soy proteins in it, I believe. If you want to continue taking protein shakes, I seriously advise you run down to GNC (or order from any online store) and buy a tub Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard whey protein powder. http://www.optimumnutrition.com/products/100-whey-gold-standard-p-201.html There are two reasons you should do this: 1.) You will save about 60% or more. A bottle of muscle milk has 20 grams of protein, and costs at least 2 dollars, usually close to 3 dollars. A scoop of ON whey has 23 grams of protein, and each scoop costs less than a dollar. 2.) Muscle milk has a lot of unnecessary chemicals in it. One of Muscle Milk's main ingredients is Sodium Caseinate and Calcium Caseinate. These ingredients are quite controversial, as they are often said to be hidden carriers of Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG). This chemical overstimulates the brain, and its presence in our food is said to cause autism. Also the ingredients list on Muscle Milk is ridiculously long. Way too many preservatives, emulsifiers, arftificial colors and flavors, etc.

Putting on weight in the proper areas
Are you saying that you want to put on fat weight evenly distributed around your body? This isn't possible. There is no way to decide where you are going to store fat, your body will decide. For guys, usually it goes mostly to the gut. But, if you are saying you would like to add muscle mass (which you definitely should) then you can do that around your whole body. Need to work out, though. But it isnt as hard as people think. All it takes is 3 days per week, 30-45 minutes each session. So we are talking like 1.5-2.25 hours per week...not a lot at all. Your workouts should look something like this Monday--Chest+triceps (bench press, pushups, tricep dips, etc) Wednesday-- Back + biceps (deadlift, rows, a few types of bicep curls, pullups, etc) Friday-- Legs + shoulders (squats, leg press, leg curl, shoulder press, shoulder lateral raise, etc) Along with this, just make sure to: a. eat enough food b. get enough sleep (7-9 hours per night usually) For food, make sure you are eating a lot of protein. You probably want at least 150 grams of protein, 75 grams of fat, and the rest of your calories should come from rice, pasta, bread, fruit and veggies. Just keep eating enough calories. I'm guessing you need at least 2500 per day to gain weight. Remember, as you gain more weight, your body needs more calories to gain weight. So at 140 lbs you need to eat more than you did at 120 lbs to gain the same ammount of weight.

Obama Administration Announces Massive Piracy Crackdown
The harm is that you are enjoying the product without paying for it. You don't just get free acess to something you would have never bought anyway. The cable company doesn't give me free cable if I would have never bought cable. Theres no reason to let some people enjoy something for free while demanding that other people pay for it. And you're honestly trying to say that if free downloading was impossible, you wouldnt spend a cent more than you currently do on media? I don't buy that for a second. If you own a damn computer to download things with, and have internet service, you can afford to buy a 10-20 dollar movie/CD

Obama Administration Announces Massive Piracy Crackdown
And me not having a million dollars makes it impossible for me to buy the cars that I like. I fail to see what your financial inadequacy has to do with anything. You act like everyone has the right to own music/movies/games. You don't. Its a product like anything else. And if it is too expensive for you then you are just going to have to not buy it.

Manliness
I don't use the brush, because it really is just a system to apply lather. I really like some of the new shaving products as far as pre-wash, lather, and post shave are concerned. I do love my straight razor though. It is ridiculously sharp and you can get a much better shave with it if you develop your skill. Any disposable razor product is just ridiculous. I mean when I shave with my Fusion (yes, I HAVE one, and I use it too! just for the mornings when I feel like it...) I feel like the stubble has been yanked out of my face, as opposed to a graceful cutting of the hair.
-
Manliness
I think he makes a good point. Razors like Gillete and such are commercialized BS. They arent selling you a good shave, they are selling you the product that will make them the most money. These razors are designed to break so that you will spend as much money as possible in your lifetime.

Obama Administration Announces Massive Piracy Crackdown
If you can't afford it, then don't do it. Simple as that. I am sure there are plenty of people who would love to boat in their spare time, but cannot afford a boat. Why should they just get a boat for free and then deprive the boat company of all its money? The media business is trying to run its business the same way that the automobile industry, fast food industry, grocery stores, department stores, jewelry stores, etc run their business. Suggesting that they change their business to accomodate for illegal activity is asinine.

8 Things Gay People Can't Do
Well I just dont see the difference between trying to raise societal opinon and trying to get the legislation passed. Anti-gay laws only existed because of prejudices, and they only exist today because people still won't let go. Once we get rid of the ridiculous anti-gay laws, I think their acceptance/opression in society can be viewed on its own. But for now, its only illegal because society still doesnt accept it. So its hard to talk about their legal place without talking about society. I know people won't be arrested for sodomy, but it really is just a little unsettling that the law is still there...Plus, changing this law could lead to other laws being changed.

Obama Administration Announces Massive Piracy Crackdown
My point was that ideally, instead of making the music cheaper altogether, the salaries in the music industry should be more equalized, so that if anyone at all out there is genuinely affected by piracy, the impact is lessened thanks to a higher salary, if not rendered negligible, while those who receive ridiculous sums are getting paid a little less. So you want to tell people how to run their business? That doesn't really sound fair. The opinions I see in this thread are freakin ridiculous. I had no idea that people were still so absorbed in downloading stuff... It's just media, why not pay for it? I dont understand...do you really need 6000 songs and 200 movies on your coputer? I mean, the stuff they make these days isnt even very good...maybe it would be better quality if everyone stopped taking things that they didnt pay for.

8 Things Gay People Can't Do
WTF are you talking about, seriously? The thread is talking about 8 things that gay people still are not allowed to do. I guess that not being allowed to marry in a state is not government opression? I seriously can't see wtf you are even talking about. If gays had every legal ability that straights have, then we would be having a different discussion. But they dont.

Obama Administration Announces Massive Piracy Crackdown
Piracy is terrible for the economy, and turning a blind eye to it is like telling all the people who work for these companies that they don't need to feed their kids. It might be easy to say that movie + music stars dont need the money, and you might be right, but there are hundreds of other people who are involved in the production of the product, and will suffer with continued piracy.

8 Things Gay People Can't Do
I'm not making any accusations. The information you are picking on is so completely irrelevant. I'm just saying that if he was in a context where the majority of people were opposing his Catholicism, the phrase would make sense. The legitimacy of my fake scenario has nothing to do with anything. Along with the fact that the specifics of my comparison are irrelevant...I DONT understand those links you posted. I dont see anywhere that says they accept evolutionary theory. WTF is your point? If you exist in a world with people who opress you wrongfully, you should just keep the peace and let them dominate you? Should Rosa Parks have moved to the back of the bus? I dont understand this BS. And it doesnt annoy me to see "Proud to be gay". I see someone say it, and I say "good for them, theres no reason to be ashamed of it" Also, you have absolutely nothing supporting your legitimacy of why "proud to be gay" is an objectionable phrase. You just say "its annoying". You could at least put a little thought into your argument instead of saying "nope, youre wrong"

8 Things Gay People Can't Do
I would say again that you are misusing the concept of the phrase. It would largely depend on the context though. When I am reading it here in the USA, on a forum that deals with general interests, your use of the phrase would seem silly because there is no context that would make me feel like you would have any reason to be ashamed of being catholic. However if we were on a hypothetical forum that talked about say, evolution, and the majority of the posters were people who thought of Catholics as complete imbeciles, I could see you wanting to let people know that your side should be heard. I dont think any religion is worth being proud of, personally...but thats a different topic. :^_^: If only people with a handicap are allowed to use a handicapped entrance, is that "inequality" or whatever? Would you demand that people who can walk should have acess to the handicapped entrance? (I am using these questions rhetorically...I assume that you don't feel the need to have access to the handicap entrance, handicap restroom, handicap lift on the side of a bus, etc) Would you really say that there is "inequality" since the disabled people can now do something that we cant? The problem with social inequality is that it anything social is extremely hard to define. Physical inequality is easy to define (a person who must use a wheelchair) and easy to fix (you must get the wheelchair into the building as easily as anyone else). You have a problem, and you have tools to fix that problem (ramps, lifts, etc). When you have a social problem, what tools do you use to fix that problem? The answer isn't as clear cut as using a ramp. Social tools are hard to define, describe, quantify, and use responsibly. "Proud to be gay" is a social tool that people use to spread awareness, boost their personal self esteem, whatever. When you approach it logically, the words "proud to be gay" form a meaning that anyone should really be able to use. You can be proud of whatever you want. However, this specific phrase has become socially charged to carry a meaning that most people probably aren't even aware of consciously. I mean, if you go tell someone "My ancestors were Irish, I love my Irish roots, and I have embraced the culture of my origins" or whatever your various white roots are, I dont think people would take offense to your personal sense of pride or connection to your heritage. However, making a random public declaration of simply "Proud to be (insert non-minority non-opressed thing here)" is going to get you in trouble because "Proud to be ____" now invokes a mental process in people where you are trying to give your culture more notice or rights. If you are from a culture that does not need more notice or rights, then you are going to be chastized for your choice to use that phrase in that way.

8 Things Gay People Can't Do
You get to be proud of it, but the PHRASE "proud to be gay" as used in society just MEANS MORE than pride alone. This phrase has a strong association with minority cultures and when you say "I'm proud to be ____" people tend to think of that as saying "My heritage of ______ needs more recognition." If someone asks you "Are you proud of your white heritage?" I dont think youd be looked at strangely. If you tell people in conversation "I feel a sense of pride in my german/english/irish/etc roots" then I dont think you would be viewed as a racist. But coming out and randomly saying to people "Proud to be white!", its gonna get you some strange looks. Sure the phrase might mean to you that you are proud of your ancestry, BUT when you use that phrase in that particular context, people take it to mean something more.
