Glenn Beck and a call for religious rebirth
I wasn't saying I dont care, I was saying that I did not understand your writing. I didnt know what I was supposedly caring or not caring about How is athiesm a religion? Actually by definition it is a lack of religion. I do not believe in anything. I observe facts and make logical deductions about the nature of reality. My views about the world are not fixed and I hold no "beliefs" or "faiths". Right now, I have concluded that evolution was the process that brought humans into existance, but if new evidence emerged then my views would change. Religion is a belief in one thing, a belief based on faith and not on evidence. It is irrational, and illogical. Atheism is not a religion, it is not a belief, and it is not a faith in anything.

Glenn Beck and a call for religious rebirth
Why do I have to prove it scientifically when other religions are exempt from this? I think you missed my point. You should be able to believe in your religion without any proof and suffer no consequences for your choice, but when you begin to harm others with it then you lose that freedom. I didn't miss your point. Any type of religion harms people. Millions of babies are being born into households and being indoctrinated with irrational beliefs about the world. Female babies in the middle east are being harmed with very painful "female circumcision" operations. Also, I would consider it harmful to the intellectual thought process to teach children that it is okay to blindly hold on to beliefs that have no evidence. Maybe it isn't killing them and resulting in their eaten corpses, but I truly feel sorry for kids who are being encouraged to reject the teachings of biology. I don't see why it is harmless to encourage stubornness in people.

Need Quick Injury Help
Always remember the acronym RICE Rest Ice Compression Elevation When you get home from practice, sit down, put your foot up on some pillows, put a cold pack on it and wrap it in an ace bandage. Also google this product called "BioFreeze". Works wonders for all the random aches and pains that I get now and then. If the pain persists or worsens, then a doctor might need to be consulted, but TBH I cant imagine wtf a doctor could tell you. I mean it sounds like some kind of muscular problem. If it was a torn ligament or a fracture youd be in so much pain that you already wouldve gone to the hospital. Sounds like a random ache right now but just keep an eye on it. Is it swollen?

But my religion says that when I eat the babies, I am saving their soul and delivering them into the highest ring of heaven. So how am I hurting them? Because I don't care about what happens in a proposed afterlife. My policy refers strictly to the world, universe and the dimension that we are in now. By eating them you are hurting them here. What happens to them after you do that is insignificant unless you can prove it scientifically. My religious belief is that the babies feel pleasure instead of pain during the sacrifical ceremonies. However I should warn you, it does look like they are in pain. But I have a 5000 year old book that states otherwise.

I use estimations all the time. When I teach kids, I can estimate that maybe 20% of the students I have taught actually make a full effort in their learnings. I have had an actual number of students, a few hundred, so I can think in my head and say "Hmmm, maybe like 80 of my 400 students demonstrated an earnest effort" This would be a perfectly fine situation to make an estimation. On the other hand, a ridiculous "estimation" would be "Hmmm, I'm going to estimate that 40% of muslims hate america, based on the zero muslims that I am friends with, zero muslims I have ever talked with, and zero muslim worship sessions I have ever attended" Its not an estimation if you have no evidence that influenced your number. It is a biased, random, irrational assumption.

I honestly can't even interpret what the hell you are trying to say here. So you either need to re-write it before I can respond to you, or I guess the conversation stops there. I care about what? And what won't I admit? I can't figure out what you're talking about.

Mosque at Ground Zero
When you don't know the percentage, it doesn't give you the right to randomly estimate based on "evidence" that arrives on your TV set via biased sources. You see, you have a problem because you are thinking "Man, to have an opinion on whether or not Muslims should be around America, I should know how many of them hate America!" A logical thought to have. Unfortunately, we just don't know, and we probably CANT know. So you can't say "Well I'm gonna assume that most muslims are dangerous and hate america, so I think they should stay away" Nobody has any evidence for or against this stupid argument, because the bottom line is that we are trying to argue about two opposing religions and there is simply no logic, reason, or evidence that will solve this debate.

Well I'm pretty sure that what you said would be pretty humiliating to anyone who does believe in the FSM (flying spaghetti monster). Why is your jesus any more important than the FSM? Why is your FSM more important than my Jesus? I asked you the question based on the statement you made...I don't think the FSM is more important than jesus, or any other magical being. I think they're all equally pointless. But my religion says that when I eat the babies, I am saving their soul and delivering them into the highest ring of heaven. So how am I hurting them?

I can have an opinion on anything and everything, on a slightest whim. I think most people are like me, too. You should try it sometime... start out with the words "I think", then speak whatever comes to mind. It makes opinions dangerous. Maybe we should ban them? If I told my doctor that I think there are little green elephants living under my sink who are telling me how to behave, I would be evaluated for psychological disorders. Or if I said "Doctor, in my opinion, all I need to get better is a few days outside in the snow with no clothes on" you would be considered an idiot. You can't just think anything you want to, call it an "opinion," and then win by default.

I think that taking away freedom of religion would be wrong. I don't want to take away religions, I think people should believe in what they want to believe. I will debate about religion with religious people if they want to, but usually it never leads to anything, I don't want to force people into non-believing. But, I do hope that eventually the world would become more atheistic. I want this to occur naturally over many years as we keep learning more about the world around us and teach it to others. I don't have problems with religious people, but I do have problems with religious/or non religious people who think their views are superior to others. So you wouldn't have a problem with me believing in a god that tells me to blow up buildings and kill babies and eat them? Cause thats my religion, you better respect it!

How in the world can you have an opinion over whether or not a certinan population exibits a certain trait? That would be like saying "In MY OPINION, 98% of the people in the USA are Cuban and the rest are Russian" You can't just have an opinion about anything.

Such as? What points in history was religion the cause of advancement for the human race? I can pull out a history book and show you about a million instances where scientific logic and reason led to human advancement, but I dont recall ever reading anything about the foundation of religion directly causing anything that advanced society. Historically, people have united based on geographical location, not religion. Unfortunately, your personal take on religion is not the view that is shared with most establisments of organized religion. This might be useful if we didnt know a lot. However, we do know a lot. Evolution has basically been proven as a fact, yet we are still facing controversy in teaching it in our schools I do care. I'm pretty sure Hitler slept pretty well at night, feeling secure about his beliefs. I don't think people should have the right to irrationally believe in delusions Yes, morality is a good thing, but morality can be had perfectly fine when it is separated from religion. We can teach people morality without threatening them with hell or teasing them with heaven. I'm an atheist and I probably act more morally than my christian friends, tbh. There are plenty of works of philosophy that rationally examine human morality without calling upon any type of god or religious belief.

There should not be a mosque anywhere in the world, nor should there be a church or a temple etc. Religion is the worst thing to happen to the human race and the world would be a lot more peaceful if so many people did not illogically cliing to delusions of such a profound nature. If I told somebody that I asked my garden gnome for a promotion and he gave it to me, I would be put under psychiatric watch. If I tell somebody that I asked god to watch over me on the drive home, they would say "omg yea god is so great, amen. ill pray for ya too!!!" A delusion shared by many people does not make that delusion any more acceptable.

25-Aug-10 Conquest
Wow, that is a good point.

Take that WoW :)
I actually think this is pretty neat. I play both games, and what I find interesting about RS is the online community. For RS there are way more fansites, online guides, high quality websites, etc. For WoW people kind of just join a guild and interact only in a guild. They don't go to help sites, they just ask their guild. Stuff like that. The biggest WoW websites are mostly for addons.

Leg exercises without machines.
No more than 10 seconds? I agree about stretches not hurting, but I have always held my stretches for about 20-30 seconds. I never used to feel limbered up after stretching and it ended up being because I held my stretches for no more than 5-10 seconds and pushed them to the point of extreme discomfort. Now I go much easier on the range of motion, for longer time, and I find it works much better. I thought that this was the common "correct" way. Most of my workouts involve lifting heavy weights though, are shorter stretches more appropriate for running?

120 Dungeoneering Finally Reached!
This. People crying "loser" or "sad kid" need to remind themselves how much time they have spent on this game. None of you get to decide how somebody should spend their life.

The Running Thread
I used to have this problem till I found out the secret. You need to get some type of turtleneck or long-neck Underarmor. I suppose a scarf might do the trick, though I havent tried it personally. For the first 10 minutes of your run, stretch the turtleneck up and cover your mouth+nose with it. Depending on the shirt, you might get too much carbon dioxide so you can stop and take a little breather if you need to. If you need to stop, cover your mouth while you breathe in and then move the hand away while you exhale, this helps to warm the air before it enters your body. Once you get nice and warmed up, you should have more luck. If this still doesnt work, try warming up inside with 10 minutes on the treadmill, then go outside and do an outside warm up for 5-10 minutes using your turtleneck trick above. Also make sure you keep your scarf/turtleneck covering your neck. Obviously your air pipe is in your neck so any layers of clothing you can add to that area will be of great help. If you still don't have any luck, sorry. :( It worked great for me though. I used to only spend like 20 minutes outside in the winter, but this past winter I was able to comfortably run for 60+ minutes.

Leg exercises without machines.
When you say "thighs" I'm not really clear on what you mean. Obviously you mean somewhere in your upper leg but is it front/back/side? Also you say you stretch, but I would like to know what stretches you are doing, how long, and how far you push your stretch. Most people think that "stretching out" means to push your muscle to the point of extreme pain and "bounce" the stretch for 10 seconds. If this is your stretching technique then that could explain some things. Also, I should just tell you up front, exercise isnt comfortable. If it was, everyone would do it. Your legs are going to be sore.

Need some dietary advice.
Yeah just put the egg whites in a bowl, cover with a paper towl (to avoid splatter), and microwave for like 90 seconds, stop, stir, microwave 90 more seconds. Thats kind of just a baseline though. Depending on your microwave it will take more or less time. This is what I do to cook 4 egg whites in my microwave. If you want to add any seasonings or dried herbs or anything, put it in when you stop the cooking the first time. I always keep a tupperware container of diced onions in the fridge and I throw those in sometimes. Also about "what do I do with the yolks?" I just throw em away usually :-\. I know its wasting food but oh well. If you feel really bad about it, you can just buy jars of egg whites at the store, but it is gonna be more expensive than if you seperate your own eggs and pitch the yolks. Also if you have anyone that lives with you who isn't watching their cholesterol, you could always bake them a cake or something. haha

Hi, this is me. Working out / Weights
Awe yeah damn you're right, your ~12% bodyfat is so much more incredible. On this forum we have a wide variety of people who have a wide background in fitness knowledge. Some people are seasoned vets, some are beginners, some are scientists, some have an enormous crush on Paleo. But honestly nobody, except for you, comes in here and flaunts around like they are the dog's bollocks for some reason or another. Yet you come in, claim that you are interested in keeping a low bodyfat % and keeping nice proportions, post pictures that show neither low BF% or nice proportions (where the hell are your lats?), and then act like you own the place. You are no expert, and you don't look good. Stay away.

Need some dietary advice.
For calcium: blackstrap molasses, collard greens, tofu, calcium-fortified orange juice, turnip greens, cooked soybeans (edamame), almonds, tempeh, kale, okrah, tahini, bok choy, mustard greens, broccoli, almond butter. For eating a heart-healthy breakfast: do you like oatmeal at all? Probably not, since you don't like cereal. But maybe you just never had a good bowl of oats. Buy some "old fashioned" oats. Put 3/4 cup of oats in a large bowl with enough water to cover the oats. Microwave for 2 minutes. In the meantime, take a small apple and cut it up into little cubes (dice it). After the 2 minutes, add in your apple, with 1/2 tsp cinammon and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Add more water if it looks too thick. Microwave again for 30-60 seconds. Enjoy fresh delicious apple-pie oatmeal. If you need more sweetness, theres nothing wrong with adding a teaspoon of brown sugar. Once you get the hang of making delicious oatmeal you can add tons of stuff into it. Since you are also looking for more calcium, adding black strap molasses would be a great idea. You could also do almond slivers, raisins, almond milk, dried cranberries, fresh bananas. One of my favorite oats is bananas+chopped walnuts+honey. Mmmmm tastes like banana bread. If you really dont like oatmeal (honestly I have never met anyone that didnt like oatmeal once I showed them some cool recipies) then you can try making your own breakfast sandwich with nearly no fat. You can buy english muffins, eggs, and raw lean turkey meat (make sure it says lean). Make the turkey into patties and cook up like 5 at a time, keep them in the fridge. Then in the morning, you wake up, heat up a non stick pan, throw in some eggs (you probably should only use the egg whites), and toast up a muffin. Egg whites cook super fast so you should be able to make it in about 5 minutes. You can keep breakfast interesting every morning by seasoning your eggs with whatever spices/hot sauce/soy sauce you feel like using that morning. It'll be cheaper, healthier, and tastier than whatever frozen sandwich junk youre buying.
