Dungeoneering Suggestions
I agree wholeheartedly. It seems to be the same problem that used to plague WoW with the talent specialization system. Both WoW's talens specialization system and RS's bind system exist for a reason. It adds depth to the game. It makes you think more about the choices you are making... However, if this type of a system is too restrictive, the opposite can occur. If the talent choices (or in our case, equipment choices) are too narrow-ended...people will only invest their options into the "correct" choices. Obviously, unless you key all of the time, or are uninterested in having the fastest/easiest exp rate possible, you would bind the same few items. (hood, top quality plate, top quality spear/2h) But...is this setup ALWAYS the best? No, not REALLY. I mean, if you could set up your team however you wanted to for each dungeon, it might be beneficial to have other people with different weapon specializations. There are certainly other viable strategies that could be considered for bind setups, but only in certain situations. These situations occur too infrequently to commit your ONLY set of binds to a "rarely useful" setup...therefore everyone ends up with the same setup. Now, look at WoW. After years of having the same mechanism for talent trees, they decided to let players have two talent specializations, and allow them to switch specs any time that they are not in combat. What happened next? Did the game suddenly become boring, over simplified, etc? No. In fact, it became much more interesting. New, more player-friendly strategies emerged. People who really liked to tank created two tanking trees: one tree with the "most common" setup, and the other tree with a more specialized setup that may be good for certain bosses. Raids/guilds were now able to vary the ammount of healers they have in a raid without having people stand on the sidelines waiting, or waiting around for their one member to go to town, unspec, respec, come back, etc... Now of course the line must be drawn somewhere. Do I think that the "bind bank" should have 20 slots?...No. I think that might be a little silly, and leave the door too far open. I think that the bind bank should have somewhere around 8 slots...especially for the lower DG levels. A 20 slot bank might be appropriate for level 120 DGing though...I dont know. I can't comment on that because I don't have personal experience with the meta game at that level.

Let's learn about fitness and being healthy! :D
Sorry but I'll have to stop reading right there. Calories are energy. If you eat more energy than your body needs, your body will store that energy. Calories are the number 1 rule. If you ate 4000 calories of the most nutritious food, you'd still be a fatass.

Should American football be renamed handegg?
Nobody has responded to me yet...soccer is played with a truncated icosahedron so why should it be called football? Should be called foottruncatedicosahedron. As the OP so kindly stated, a ball is a sphere. Theres nothing spherical about a truncated icosahedron.

It's days like these when I am glad that I don't really take the game seriously anymore. lol Jagex really needs to hire better proofreaders/checkers or whatever...for example: "The amulet of zealots will not work on multiple stat-boosting prayers." This phrase implies that the amulet will not work while more than one stat-boosting prayers are active. However, we have observed that the amulet DOES work when used with multiple prayers that boost only a single stat. So for example, steel skin+eagle eye. However, the amulet does not work with prayers that boost more than one stat. What the text should say is: "The amulet of zealots will not work on multiple-stat-boosting prayers." There are two categories of stat-boosting prayers: regular stat-boosting prayers and multiple-stat-boosting prayers. The language Jagex originally used implies that multiple prayers of a stat-boosting nature are not affected by this amulet. The addition of an extra hyphen would completely change the meaning of the sentence and would accurately state that prayers of the "multiple-stat-boosting" nature will not be affected.

DGing with a group
Thank you guys all very much. I like to be a good player...lol. All helpful advice so far. If anyone else has anything to add, feel free. Otherwise I think I'm all set to start DGing with a purpose. :shades:

Should American football be renamed handegg?
Uh, I'm pretty sure it would be the NHL. After all, its NFL not NFBL... I'm pretty sure NHL is already trademarked by the National Hockey League. The acronym NHL is not a trademark...lol. Another franchise of a different name could have the same acronym. If NHL was trademarked I'd feel sorry for some guy named Nathan Herbert Lewis. "I'm sorry sir, you cannot write your initials...that acronym is trademarked by the National Hockey League"

DGing with a group
Hi. For the past year or two I haven't really had much time to play this game. But now, I am playing more often and would like to get my character back up to the "end game" status that I once had..So I need to do some DG to get the chaotic stuff. So far, I have leveled purely with solo. I'd like to start finding groups to play with, as I have heard this is way faster. I have a few questions about this process. 1.) Where is the best place to find groups? I don't have many friends who are still playing...need to make some new ones. 2.) What should I have bound before I start grouping? Right now I have gorg plate + spear + some prom arrows. I have heard a lot about shadow hoods...is this "expected" on the higher level teams? 3.) Any other tips about the process in general? The common group speed strategies? Stuff like that If there is a guide out there that can help answer these questions, let me know. Thanks EDIT: Oh, one more question...the ring. What ring is the most popular to have? Is it worth it to upgrade the ring? I havent spent any points yet.

How am I supposed to get over it when I have a constant reminder?
I don't feel that my advice is being a jackass. I feel my advice is truly going to help. I'm not gonna help by saying "Awww hun, its okay!" "Cry your head on my shoulder, you can lean on me for emotional support!" All that crap is made up. The best help you can give yourself if to realize what you can change and what you cant. If you can change something, then stop crying about it and change it. If you can't, then stop crying about it and don't let it ruin your life. That is the way I see it.
-
How am I supposed to get over it when I have a constant reminder?
1) say something cynical and oversimplified 2) consider yourself smart and realistic 3) ?????? 4) profit A person is distressed and you tell them to get over it, which means you don't give a damn about how they're feeling or how they should get back on track but instead think they're just being childish. And maybe you don't. So if you don't like a thread, don't post on it, but don't pretend you're taking the practical, moral high ground. Life is hard and complicated. Sometimes, people need to talk. Sometimes, people need more help. That's for the individual to judge. But trust me, you don't have to heap onto the insecurity and anxiety by your blithe attitude. In this case, what you should have said was nothing. I think you're wrong. I think that taking such a high regard to all this touchy-feely bullcrap only makes life worse. The things people say these days...in their real lives...its like some crap you hear in a soap opera. "I need some time to work on my personal emotions!" "How do I get by another day when I have to look at ____" It's like the damn script from laguna beach. It is purely delusional. People never talked like this before TV and MTV and all the other terrible sources of media overstimulation conviced people that movie scripts are realistic. Everybody has problems, its life. Sitting around and moping isn't gonna get you anywhere or change the situation. Take it in stride, suck up your pride, pick yourself up, and move the hell on.
-
How am I supposed to get over it when I have a constant reminder?
I'll give the first obligatory realistic not-delusional response. You are where you are because of choices you made. Get over it. Life's too short to sit around and pout about everything.

Should American football be renamed handegg?
If a ball is defined as a round, spherical object, then I am sorry...the "ball" used in "soccer" doesn't follow the rules either. The shape of a soccer ball is a truncated icosahedron. So untill you're going to rename soccer to "foot-truncated icosahedron" and rename american football to "handegg" at the same time, they'll both stay football. The full name for soccer is "Association football." The full name for the game we play in america is "American football." Both uses of the word "football" are not even the actual name of the sport; they are nicknames. like what? all i think of is feild goals or punts, and soccer still uses their feet more then football Well if we are going to name a sport after what the ball is in contact with the most, then soccer should clearly be renamed "grassball" Calling American football "football" makes sense because it is the only sport that was played here that allows and actually requires contact of the ball with the foot. I mean its the first damn thing you do in the game...kick it. Its how the game starts....whatever... If you wanted to call american football "handegg" or "handball" or anything like that, it wouldnt make sense. The names of sports highlight the unique qualities "Baseball" only sport with bases "Basketball" only sport with baskets "Handegg" only sport where you hold the ball.....errr...wait! Uh, I'm pretty sure it would be the NHL. After all, its NFL not NFBL...

He's not "just under." He is 40 pounds under. And like others have said, before we can give advice you need to just see how many calories you actually eat every day. Do this for a few days and get back to us.

27-Oct.-2010 Emergent Gameplay letter
Emergent gameplay is basically anything you do in the game that is done differently than how it was designed. In the case of people running hotels in their house or whatever, that totally would be emergent gameplay. Emergent narrative is a type of emergent gameplay where the players are making some type of story for their characters. Any type of in game role playing adventure would be emergent narrative. Sure, they designed a "role playing game" but they do not give us any type of tools or mechanics that support "playing pretend". I mean I guess the closest thing to that would be the fact that they made a "role playing" world...but again I dont think anything has been programmed to advocate roleplaying. If they put a cash register, buffet line, etc inside the POH, then running a restaurant business in your house would not be emergent. But, this is not the case. There are no house features that were specifically designed to accomodate the concept of owning a business, and it is therefore emergent. Google "emergent narrative" and read anything that pops up.

Vegetarianism
Thank you for giving me the answer I was looking for. I can't really blame huge corporations for putting unethical practices into play, since basically all they are doing is following the law. All of my hate for corporations has now been transferred to a hate toward legislature and Wall Street Joel can implement less-than-profitable practices because his company is not publicly traded, correct?
-
Vegetarianism
I'm still not getting this...if a ton of ethical farmers got together to start a corporation, why would it NEED to be heartless? Why do we automatically assume that there could never be a corporation who isn't mainly driven by attaining the highest profit? I think I might understand this part of it...Joel already has a hard enough time dealing with pressure from people who want him to use different methods. Maybe he couldn't get away with it on a large scale? But again, if it were a large enough movement, maybe people would see the BS behind this legislature and get it changed? We do live in America after all. I still feel like we would be making a lot of assumptions here about what a corporation must do. CEOs don't have to be billionaires.

Vegetarianism
But I still don't understand why a non-greedy centralized sustainable farm couldn't exist? He isn't making much money right now, so it would be an investment for him to grow...but then the increase in growth would lead to more profit coming in eventually. No?

Vegetarianism
I actually don't see why it must be decentralized. The problem with the major meat companies aren't in their size, it is in their practices. If one large meat-packing company existed somewhere, I don't really understand why they wouldn't be able to just adopt Joel's practices on a larger scale, and freeze and ship their meat to the whole country? What is the difference between one enormous sustainable farm and 10,000 farms the size of Joel's?
