  1. Wow I can't believe they would talk about Runescape in like a night club or whatever that was.
  2. The way I see it, things are crashing because some people are stopping with manipulation clans and high volume flipping. I mean...I know flipping is kind of going to be possible technically right until the update. But I dunno... I know I personally stopped flipping. I'm not sure why...it just seems pointless to do it when free trade is coming back? That doesn't really make sense...but it is what my brain is telling me. lol...anyone help me make sense of this? If a large portion of manipulators and flippers stopped, then prices would definitely fall due to less artificial demand.
  3. Wheres Curtis Josep? He must have cashed in his stash of cats
  4. Cool. This glitch shows some interesting details about how the coding for deflect curses must work.
  5. I agree with your disagreement. One thing I have really liked about PvP worlds is the "HAHA BYE TORSO" aspect.
  6. The game would have to shut down for me to quit entirely. I will gladly keep paying my 5 measly bucks each month regardless of if I will play 100 hours that month or 5 hours. Or 1 hour. Or zero hours. I just like having this game there when I want it. That factor is what kept me with runescape instead of all the other MMORPGs. In other games, you usually have to play around a certain schedule to be any good...need to coordinate with friends and guild. Runescape is there whenever I want it. I can play 5 minutes or 5 hours and progress my character either way. I like that
  7. I cant wait to see what will happen to the player community. Maybe the average scaper will again turn into a fun-loving gamer instead of a gamer who walks around with a stick up his butt, trying to prove that he can out-grind other players.
  8. The problem you are speaking of seems to be a growing problem with society in general. It seems people these days are declining in their literacy skills. I blame technology, texting, etc. Writing used to be something that people actually put thought into. But now, people are writing pages of text per day in discussion formats where they do not put a whole lot of thought into their composition.
  9. You're gonna get HP exp from pking...seems like a shame to waste all of your efforts at getting high summoning with low ass hp
  10. Bro, just stay the hell out of this thread. This guy knows way more than you do. Efficiency is not just how much exp you can possibly get in an hour. Nobody would ever say that making demonic thrones is the most efficient construction exp. But it certainly would be the fastest. Efficiency takes cost into account by acknowledging that time=money. The cost of exp certainly is important in calculating efficiency. For example if you can make 2m per hour and you are getting 100k exp per hour while spending 2m then that "hour" actually cost you two hours of time. If you use another method that gets you 105k exp per hour but costs 4m per hour then this would be way less efficient.
  11. I liked that one. "WHO CARES?" I liked this video a lot...sums up the way I look at runescape, lol. Tons of people who run around crazy about something while I just keep to myself. EDIT: I just realized all of the videos are the same...I don't really understand how this video relates to someone feeling "yes" or "no"
  12. I really don't know how I feel about overloads in the wilderness... I mean, I think it sounds like a bad idea at first...to make people feel "obligated" to get herblore levels... But then again, isn't there an "obligation" with some other things? What about d-claws? Theres a sense of obligation to buy some expensive items...what are these items? Gold. But what is gold? Hours in game. You can be "obligated" to spend hours making money, but not spend those same hours training skills? I mean obviously it takes a lot more money to get overloads...but still I think you guys get my points. I mean a divine shield would provide a huge advantage in pvp and it would take way more time to get that shield than it would take to get 92+ herblore.
  13. Why is it that we can use chaotic weapons in PvP but people think it is unfair to have extreme potions in PvP? I still dont understand how anyone is immature for wanting to kill you. If anything, it sounds like you are the immature one for crying when other people engage in behavior that is coherent with what the area was designed for...
  14. wtfamireading.jpg Man I seriously doubt that you are gonna get much worthwhile in this thread...You have broken this minigame down to how many game ticks skills take...I don't even know wtf a game tick is. I really dont think most people play this game on your level. From the sounds of it, you have thought about this enough. I dont think anyone will have any ideas for you.
  15. selection bias; you are more likely to pay attention to people who spam voted. the vast majority of people who voted in the first poll probably only voted once, with a smaller proportion of people voting a lot of times Well even if 95% of the players only voted one time, that would mean that the remaining 5% only needed to vote an everage of 600 times per person. Yes, this is actually a lot of votes, but I was under the impression that a large portion of the votes came from some type of automated system that registered thousands of votes from individual users. Unless 99% of the users only voted one time, it would not require the remaining users to vote more than 1000 times. I just thought it was interesting, because I know I voted 10 times in the original poll, which means I voted more than twice as much as the average player. And I really didn't even try that hard...I couldve voted much much more. I thought for sure that we were raking in 20+ votes per person.
  16. Pretty much every game on the MLG circuit has its own set of rules and guidelines discussed and set by the 'elites' in that game's community and then applied during the tournaments themselves. If you want to take this to extremes then we could pretty much destroy online competitive Pokemon gaming right now with opposing Shadow Tag Uber Wobbuffets, all in the name of "anti-player morality". I mean, if that's the way I want to play it, who's got the right to stop me? All gaming communities have standards. Gaming =/= Anarchy. Thats funny I didnt know that we were playing Runescape in a competitive tournament. Oh wait. We aren't.
  17. Something I think is very strange is that there are, what, close to 300k votes for Yes? The original poll...it had 1.2 million votes? Which means that on average, the people who support this move only voted 4 times. Doesn't that sound odd to you guys? I thought that the 1.2 million votes was mainly made up of people who page refreshed for hours on end and voted repeatedly but apparently each person voted an average of only 4 times. I know many people have multiple accounts but still...the difference between the ammount of people who voted on the initial petition is not nearly as much as I thought it would be.
  18. Fair enough. I don't really think that the PvP population now has any more or less "immature" people though...I do think it has LESS people TOTAL though. Yes, there are. Yes, there are. Yes...it is. I don't know what to tell you here except to log onto a F2p world sometime and see the army of automated people who march from tree to tree. They aren't botting at yews on P2P servers anymore...thats for sure. But thats only because now they have the botting technology to send armies to the green dragons. I fail to see how being concerned with money is any different from being concerned with the customer. Most of their money comes from customers so what is the difference? The original trade update was not concerned with what people thought of the game. The update came because of legal problems or some crap like that. They got rid of free trade in SPITE of what players wanted, not because of what players wanted. Now that the legal issues (or whatever) can be handled in other ways, we can now have the game that people want.
  19. I think it is useful to quote multiple posts because then people have the opportunity to read an entire exchange of thoughts between two or more individuals. It would be really stupid if I had to go back a few pages just to see where the current discussion came from.
  20. See my previous post about clash of cultures. Most PKers also think that YOU are "immature" or otherwise stupid for not loving the old version of the wilderness. When we as humans clash with a culture that we do not understand, we arrogantly tend to percieve the foreign culture as inferior in multiple ways (emotions, intelligence, rationality, etc) Nothing to say about this one. See other posts in the thread, concerning the fact that botting is STILL as prevelant now as it ever has been. Log in to varrok yews in F2P sometime. Also, we have to give Jagex a little trust that they actually have some new and improved technology to combat this. What about the theory that MMG is highly concerned with customer satisfaction, and that this update has been recieved with mostly high regard and will give many players a renewed interest in the game? I think that theory sounds pretty damn desireable.
  21. This about sums up my feelings also. Would I rather continue to surely destroy the game by letting it continue to be centered around a clumsy trade system, or would I rather RISK destroying the game but possibly breathe new life into it? I choose the option that could help or hurt the game, instead of the option that will surely continue to hurt the game.
  22. Increase? And? Oh thats right. I forgot that the game can survive perfectly fine when X% of the players are bots. But when free trade comes back, the population will reach its critical ammount of X+5% of bots and an abyssal portal will open up and swallow the Runescape servers for all of eternity. I almost forgot about that. Did I ever say it would collapse? Please, don't put words in my mouth. Runescape is currently full of bots which for many players spoils the game. Why would anybody want to bring more into the game? I think it is a viable opinion to not want an update which will bring more bots and gold farmers into the game. Did you say it would collapse? No. Thats my point. You aren't saying what would happen. All you are saying is that bots are bad and that more bots=more bad. My question is: so what? Clearly close to 90% of RS voters think that trade restrictions ruin the game more than an increase in bots ruins the game. There is no doubt that the update will bring more bots. Even if more bots "hurts" the game, this doesn't matter if the alternative is to have an overly restrictive system that hurts the game more. You can't just look at one part of the situation. Its like saying I give you a choice between being stabbed with a knife or being shot with a gun and all you say is "I don't want to be stabbed, that would hurt." I keep offering you the choice and all you comment on is "No, being stabbed is bad." You have to make the choice. We have the choice between introducing more bots, which will make a current problem a little bit worse, or we can keep the system in place and ruin the game for a huge ammount of people. The choice is between two things that each hurt the game. I think there is sufficient evidence to show that the trade updates are more concerning for people than an increase in the bot population. I think we should hurt the game, instead of continuing to kill the game. This
