  1. 0phathead0 was a well known and respected member of the PKing and dueling community before the trade updates happened. There is no doubt that he has returned to troll the people who are opposing this update. He is definitely a smart person and a skilled player. He clearly is an effective and un-obvious troll
  2. It's not that one will replace the other, it's that now we will have both. Jagex have not shown us that they can deal with the bots now, how could they possibly deal with more bots when this update goes through? Judging by what they said they just had a breakthrough in the last month or so with bot technology. I understand people not wanting to read what they say though considering they're too busy worrying about how terrible runescape is going to become. Or it would be based on knowing that Jagex's word in the past has been far from reliable in terms of bots? What exactly is so bad about bots anyway? And why is it worth crippling one of the main aspects of the game just to deter bots? Really though...the current trade/GE/pking system isn't doing anything to help fight bots. Sure, when the system goes away, there might be MORE bots, but I think there are also going to be more players... But yeah I'm still not really understanding what is so terrifying about playing with some bots. I'd like to hear why you think bots are so terrible and also why you think the current trade system does anything against bots, because I currently see a crapload.
  3. Well, I would argue that fansites like tipit are the 'educated' community and the mindless hoards of pures / children / noobs are just following the 'mob mentality' and going along with what everone else says without thinking about what would be best for the continuity of the game. From what I've seen here and heard about similar polls on fansites, the 'educated' players seem to be 60% for, 40% against which is far from the "vast majority" Jagex was looking for. I guess everyone should be considered part of the RS community. But even if you just look at RSOF, the people who use punctuation, capitals, sentence structure are generally agaisnt it and 'da ppl hu tak like dis' are for it. I'm talking in general, there are crossovers. I guess this is the sort of community we get when most players are just 14 year old boys  Bro, it is incredibly rude of you to consider your part of the population any better than the other population. Before the updates in 07 I was part of several groups of PKing pures, and most of the community is highly intelligent. They just value different things than you do. However, I guess I can't blame you for thinking that they are "stupid" or "immature". It is in human nature to call different cultures "less advanced" or "less intelligent". It happened when Europeans observed African culture, it happened when Americans observed Vietnamese culture, and it currently happens when hearing people observe Deaf culture. People look at these different cultures and think "Man, these people dont know anything! Theyre not as good as I am." The PKing community thinks the same way about communities like tip.it, that we are immature, dont know what is good about the game, etc... It is a typical clash of cultures.
  4. [/hide] Those are good points. However, this thread is just as much about your points as much as it is about the developments time this will take to implement. Time that will be taken away from creating new content. Too bad you didnt speak up 3 years ago. Maybe they would have realized that instead of taking time to design the GE, two versions of BH, new duel tournaments, PvP worlds, incremented trade limits, the lending system....they could have used that time to develop new content. They already wasted a lot of development time to make the game worse...they might as well spend some time implementing changes that will make it better.
  5. You arent even ranked in BH yet you think that BH is worthy of having worlds dedicated to it. Thats because BH only get ranked after succesful kills, only fools do DM and keep their word on it. I personally perfer pvp in random places, not just in wild and I do have brawling gloves to prove I do pvp and won. Thats not the point anyway, the point is there are people who like BH worlds and certainly a lot more who would like to keep at least 1 non-pvp world. Why would their freedom have to be stripped? Its like removing rsc as it is pointless and because they can. Your viewpoint sure sounds nice. Too bad 90% of the population seems to agree that PvP worlds arent important and that seperating Pvp wildy from non-pvp wildy also is not important. I don't know what to tell you except that I am sorry your concerns are shared by a vast minority of the population. What you are saying is "Well...some people like having pvp worlds and normal worlds. Why should we just **** all over them and get rid of that system?" Well...the only reason those updates exist is because a huge portion of the population was **** all over to begin with. Your viewpoint is that stuff, in general, should not be removed. Well, free trade and the wilderness shouldn't have been removed in the first place then.
  6. Well there are two possibilities. Initially, they were saying that free trade would only be available to long term accounts with no history of black marks or bans... However....now it is sounding like this may not be the case. The thing is, though, that RWT is still as rampant as it ever was.. It is occurring right now with all the restrictions in place. So why punish regular players with a clumsy system that doesnt stop RWT anyway?
  7. holy crap, this is the exact reason it was great when some of the pking types left the game. stupid and annoying trolls once again run rampant. I don't understand why people have the ability to spot a troll, yet they feed him anyway. If you are truly annoyed by trolls then stop giving them so much to feed off of by whining all day. Your tears only whet their apetite.
  8. They could just take everything and throw it off the East cost of the wilderness. Past Daemonheim
  9. Good to see you, Craven. The reason the poll is not as extreme on fansites such as tip.it is because the community has an unproportional ammount of people who are frightened by Pvp, luring, bots, and all things that are "bad" or "scary" If you go to any clan forum or pking community, the polls there are largely tipped in favor of Yes. So here at tip.it we have like 18% No, at pking-centered communities we have like 2% No. Those two biased populations average out to the ~8% No that we see on the RS main page. You arent even ranked in BH yet you think that BH is worthy of having worlds dedicated to it.
  10. "Darker" side? Are you kidding me? When people dropped items on death, I was a huge fan of getting people killed and claiming their items as my own. Did I need the wealth? No. I was just amused by the process. I am still amused by getting people killed and then watching their gravestone disappear. But I am far from a "dark" player. When free trade was around, I probably gave around 10% of the wealth I ever accumulated to people who needed it. Sometimes, its just fun to watch people die. All this talk of people who "ruin" the community...how? By playing the game the way they want to? The people who ruin the game, just like the people who ruin the world, are the people who invent some type of player morality and then expect everyone to follow those same standards.
  11. Not really a problem, I was just struggling to understand what you were feeling. And yes, I also have a terrible feeling that I voted "Yes" to free trade that is "too good to be true." As with all Jagex updates, I have sinking feeling that the update day will come and some terrible restrictions will be in place. I just think that the current trade system is so terrible that it is completely worth the risk of voting yes and just having some type of major systematic change. Then again, thats why I am a liberal  Cheating only exists if there are rules being broken. It is the definition of cheating. There is no rule against making new accounts for this or using some of your multiple accounts. Just because voting multiple times goes against some personal honor code that you made up doesn't mean that you should expect others to follow this invisible rule. Jagex said nowhere that they expect one vote per person, or only vote from long term accounts, or anything like that. The expectation that there should only be one vote per person was not stated anywhere except inside your own head. Both people who vote Yes and people who vote No would be able to vote multiple times. If the Yes votes were open to all accounts, but the No votes were only open to accounts that were 1 year+ old, then maybe I could see your gripe.
  12. I'm having a hard time understanding your logic. You're so afraid that the update might bring some type of unpleasant detail that you would rather just vote "No" and keep things the way they are? You, sir, are a Runescape conservative.
  13. That would make the wilderness an exciting/nerve-wracking place to be (like it's supposed to be), rather than just some boring, barren wasteland without any real threats. Whatever happened to the concept of Risk vs. Reward? Muggi I thought you would realize by now that the new runescape philosophy is that long safe grind->reward
  14. Don't forget the other thread, where only 32% opposed the transition.
  15. Illegal? Probably not. Vote rigging, yes. Corrupt, wrong, immoral, choose whichever term you wish. Maybe Jagex already have the update ready to roll and just wanted to legitimise it? Thinking it wouldn't get enough votes, they made it not need a password knowing their player base would cheat to get high enough votes? Bro I am pretty sure that the consesnus of the general public is that the vote is just for fun and that this update is clearly just a planned update. They probably have it all planned out and just wanted to run the poll to see how dedicated people were to rigging millions of votes. I wish that they would've done a legitimate vote though so that people like yourself could just see that the population of players who would actually oppose this revert are in the vast minority. Do you really think we need to have a vote on this? Do you really think that the people who are against this would win?
  16. To troll those of us who actually care.
  17. Also read the remainder of my post... The rest in short is basicly: Should us honest players really be comfortable with Jagex' new attitude against cheaters? Yes, you should. If someone buys 500m off the internet, why should that bother you? In WoW it is well known that people buy and sell gold. There are bans for it daily, but really people know that they are likely playing with people who break the rules. Do people care? No. They just play for their own fun and their own progress. My guess is that you aren't concerned with your own progress in itself but rather you just feel the need to compare yourself to others who aren't progressed as far. I don't give a crap if someone buys a party hat on Ebay cause that does literally nothing to my own enjoyment of my character.
  18. You mean the fact that the game has taken a turn towards giving players what they enjoy about the game? Go cry in your lonely corner with the rest of the minority of players who love the anti-RWT updates. Most of us don't care enough about this game to be butthurt about the fact that some people are cheating. For the rest of us who just like to have fun and play the game without worrying about the "porgress" that cheaters make, this is a welcome change.
  19. dw, someone else will vote for you :P
  20. Bro, what world of illusion have you been living in? Botting is currently a huge struggle, and it is arguably as prevalent as it has EVER been. I think Jagex has realized that they need to approach this issue just like WoW and the other popular RPGs...let the honest players play the game without restraint, and just monitor botting and RWT as best as you can.
  21. I think that we should refer to this period of time as "RS prohibition", making reference to the US's failed prohibition of alcohol. I hope that they get rid of gravetones along with this update. It would be great to be able to camp new updates again and watch people die and have the public swarm their dropped items. If all accounts have the ability to trade freely I also will be highly interested in being able to get lots of money on to low level accounts again (via charitable donations from friends of course)
  22. Well money is the only reason runescape still exists ... Actually if there was no money, then Jagex wouldn't have any costs to run RS. What could it cost? Who would they pay to? What would they pay with?
  23. As others have said, cover your mouth with something like a balclava so that it will warm the air.
  24. Seeing this gave me horrible flashbacks to when I was robbed at gunpoint while working at Arby's. Your outlook on life totally changes if you've ever had to beg for it.
