This is true, if you have the full set, try it out. Make sure to use the melee prayer though, I accidentally used ranged prayer and died hard. If you dont believe me, go down there with no equipment on and use melee protect. Even without the shield, you will be okay.

I would never even think about spending that much time on this game. I only have slayer 85 and it was such a pain, I'd never ever consider doing 99...

A turtle gives a lyre 4 charges. I know it doesnt seem much, but over a few trawlers I built up like 50 turtles. Its not worth buying turtles or anything, but if you get them anyway from something fun you do, its a great bonus :)

Well, I have just used up my last raw sea turtle on my lyres, and I really would like to have more again. I used to love going on TET trawler trips, what happened to them? I think we should have one every month, or every two weeks, maybe. Did not enough people show or what?

This here is a smart man. Why not just create a brand new clan war section, either in the wilderness or a mini game like Castle Wars. I think this could be an even better idea than all these changes you want to make. At the before the game, the clan leaders can choose rules, equipment, etc. The rules will include combat types allowed, respawn time, prayers allowed, etc. Also, at the beginning of the war, all members of the clan are allowed to deposit into their respawn chests for equipment that they will lose. I dunno, I don't wanna think to hard on it cause I dont see it happening. It would involve a lot of clan support being integrated into the game. Before we update all this stuff you suggest, I think what we need more is TEAM CAPES ON F2P FFS.

Yes, I agree completely. I killed about 1200 abbys so far with no whip...I mean, it doesn't really bother me too much, because I don't really care too much about the money. It was just nice to get 85 slayer. However, the price does not rise for a different reason than you might think. So many people are going for higher than 85 slayer, and just happening to get whips in abby tasks. So, they just want to pretty much sell that whip ASAP and get back to slaying. If everyone did not train their slayer past 85, and everyone just stayed at that level to get whips, the prices would not be this low. Thats just my prediction.

Yes, it LOOKED like magic. But you can trust me that it was indeed range attack. Im sure you are familiar with Bloodvelds, correct? Well, they use melee right? So you should wear full rune? WRONG. The defense that prevents damage is mage defense, while the attack is still magic based. The only difference here is that the ranged prayer actually WAS the prayer to use.

Yeah, EQ2 is 15 bucks a month! But...wait....you get to play 6 characters. This actually works out to be LESS than runescape. (Less than 3 bucks per character per month) Or, if you buy a station pass, you get 9 characters and acess to each of their online games

Umm...right. Actually, Runescape is much shorter than other online RPG's. Technically, I guess Zezima has beaten Runescape. In othe online games, it's basically impossible to beat.

who said killing dragons in any manner was bug abuse? I overlooked it I guess. Only thing I saw was his analogy to dragon and wyverns. The problem with this analogy is that dragons and wyverns are completely different creatures. Anybody can fight a dragon, no slayer level or specific items are said to be REQUIRED to do so. Dragonfire shields are only a strong suggestion... and only necessary if you intend to fight dragons for a long period of time. (I'd love to see how many iron dragons you kill without an antifire shield) Some slayer monsters, UNLIKE dragons, have REQUIRED items in order to fight or kill them. Obviously the shield is meant to be required if it is on the list, so I don't see how this thread is any different than the people complaining when Jagex fixed the guthix rest bug while they were solo-ing the KQ with it. If the shield is on the required items list, you should've been playing as if the bug didn't exist. Not completely true at all. First of all...I already adressed this...but I guess I have to say it again. If the Wyvern would happen to not use any ice breath, you could easily kill it. Regardless as to if you were wearing a shield or not. However, without the proper equipment for other monsters, you cannot kill them. Or, in most cases, you cannot even damage them. So many people are losing the meaning of this post. I'm not saying it SHOULDNT be this way, I'm saying they should give us a heads up on these sorts of updates. I also wish that 90% of the people would bother reading the entire thread before posting. Come on, its not even 5 pages yet... This would be like them all of a sudden making protection prayers completely useless at Barrows and saying it was a "bug" in the first place that you could use prayer. I saw what type of damage the ice attack used, and I used the appropriate protection prayer for it, how in the world is THAT bug abuse? Thats like saying using a magic prayer at any dragons is bug abuse...or prayer switching on JAd is bug abuse. Bottom line, I didn't think it was a bug, they didn't make an announcement that they changed it, and I died. All I'm saying is that they need to make more public bug announcements, especially those that can potentially kill someone. Also, I've never had to report a bug before, so I had no clue about that screen that listed all the known bugs. WHen did they announce this? How are we supposed to know about it if we've never found a bug before? I guess I'll start checking this screen more frequently...but it's such a stupid inconvenience. You all act like I'm just here to complain about my death...for the love of Mike, I'm just trying to warn anyone who happened to discover the same thing with Wyverns. I wouldn't be angry if I died anywhere in the game and lost everything I had. I'm just getting very annoyed with Jagex's customer support.

Okay, so should I have to look on that bugfix screen every single day to make sure things that I consider normal aren't bugs? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt Jagex to announce bug "fixes" that can be life threatening.

Okay...I'll try to explain this one more time. First of all, I did NOT have a friend there to pick up my stuff...nor did I even say that anywhere...or anything like that.... :?: :? Now, let me explain how I found this combination that worked. First trip I took to the wyverns, I wore monk robes, just to check out the place. Then, I saw they were very similar to dragons, so I took out my dragon hides (magic defense) and intended on using protect from melee. However, I noticed I was getting hit very much still. Then, I got my first granite leg drop. I put them on, and I immediately noticed a change. It was the range defense. So, I made a breakthrough, the "breath" was ranged based. On my third trip back, I wore full torags and used melee prayer, and I did VERY well that time. So then I got the idea. Since this breath is ranged based, I wonder if protect from range works against it. It did. Now, lets take a moment and look at the dragons throught Runescape. What are they like? First things first, you need an anti-fire shield right? No...not quite. The breath is magic based, and the attacks are melee based. If you use protection from magic, you do not experience the devastating hits from the fire breath. Oddfarey, do you consider people who use magic prayer against dragons to be bug abusers? Probably not. How is this different from the Wyverns? Just because it is a slayer monster? Let me remind you again, if you would HAPPEN to be lucky enough to not have them use any ice breath, you do NOT need the shield to kill them. This is the exact same thing with dragons. I have seen plenty of noobs get lucky enough to not experience one singe fire-breath. If the Wyvern does not use ice breath, you could easily kill it without an elemental shield. In MY mind, this actually separates it further from the rest of the monsters. Can you kill any of the other monsters without the needed equipment? NO. Not even if you get extremely lucky. If ranged prayer at the Wyverns would be bug abuse, then magic prayer against dragons is bug abuse.

It still boils my broccoli to know that they didn't announce it. I can understand not announcing every single thing, like a graphical bug fix. But for things that are life threatening, don't you think they should announce them? I did not even consider this to be a bug, so why would I look for it on the bug fix screen? Oh...and if this WAS a bug...DONT THEY TEST THINGS?! I mean ffs, I was only there about 30 minutes before I realized how to do this technique. If this was indeed considered a bug, it should've been handled BEFORE release.

I mentioned Oergg because he is my friend, and he is the only person I went with. The fact that you find him "famous" is irrelevant. So, the game also says that you need an anti-fire shield to fight dragons. However, if you use protect from magic and anti-fire pots, you do not need the shield, is THIS bug abuse? The elemental shield is NOT listed in the slayer equipment page. Therefore, it is not the same as the other "required" equipments. You did not NEED an elemental shield to fight Wyverns, just like you do not NEED a fire shield to fight dragons. The shield is not in the official slayer equipment guide (click on the slayer skill), so it should not work the same way. I would not think of this as a bug, since there is the dragon thing. If the Wyvern happens to not use its ice attack on you, you don't even need the shield. It is not comparable to other slayer equipment.

OKAY, now before another one of you MORONS post, YOU DID NOT NEED AN ELEMENTAL SHIELD THE FIRST WEEK THAT THESE WERE OUT! The dangerous breath that was used was considered to be ranged attack, just like a dragon's breath is considered magic. All you used to need was ranged prayer. If you don't believe me, ask Oergg. I went there, in full Verac, with him and we both used this same technique, taking very little damaage. And FYI you can fight dragons just fine without a fire breath shield. All you need is magic prayer and anti fire pot. Believe me, I've dharoked them enough. What I am angry about is all these stupid hidden "bug fixes" that Jagex doesn't tell us about and gets us killed. I am sure a few of you remember my dharok death at bloodvelds due to a wondering Aberrant Specter...

Protection from range used to block the devastating attacks, regardless if you were holding an elemental shield or not. Ask anyone who actually knows from experience what they are talking about.

I didnt want to make a new post about this, so I am just going to edit it in. All of the replies to this post up till page 4 are about the old topic. But, I figured out today, the "bug" with the Wyverns still works. However....I used the wrong prayer. You can use full Verac set just fine against Wyverns, but you need to use MELEE prayer. I realised my mistake in school today, and went to try it out. It still works. Protect from MELEE protects from their ice attack, regardless if you are wearing an elemental shield or not. I would upload a video, but I'm still at school. So, if you dont believe me, go down there wearing nothing and see for yourself. Protect from melee with stop the devastation of their breath. I just used the wrong prayer :( :oops: P.S. You still need 72 slayer for this to work, btw.
