I wrote my Senator, Richard Burr (Republican)--the guy behind the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) and others--about Trump's changes to the Principals Committee. He's chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and also comes from a very pro-military district (because of Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force base), so I hope he doesn't sit idly by and his staffers at least indicate someone is concerned about the memorandum. It is very troubling to have someone like Bannon on the Principals Committee as a regular attendee, but not the Director of National Intelligence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Well I finished the Betsy DeVos hearing while cleaning this morning. Been listening to it while bike riding, etc. I'm surprised Warren's questions didn't receive more public attention. She really pushed DeVos. But most of all, her respones to Kaine's questions infuriated me the most: [hide] [/hide] (Approximately 2:53:30 into the C-SPAN broadcast.) Next is Rex Tillerson's.

I've been working on a secret software development project, and it's been so rewarding. Never have I poured so much effort towards a goal in such a small time-span. 500 hours logged since late September, 130 this month alone. I still am not sure if it's going to work as planned, but I've been running on some sort of opposite Murphy's law since inception: everything that can go right, goes right. There's plenty of times I was banging my head, but never have I encountered a problem I haven't been able to work myself out of--oftentimes with surprisingly better results than I'd ever expected. If it's a fraction as successful as my tests indicate, I'll be a very happy individual.

It's the dawn of the final day. 24 hours remain (give or take a few) before Trump ascends the Iron Throne becomes President of the United States. The nominee confirmation hearings have been so demoralizing. I'm going to watch (or I suppose read the transcript) of Betsy DeVos's hearing later today.

Did we read different articles? https://www.buzzfeed.com/kenbensinger/these-reports-allege-trump-has-deep-ties-to-russia#.ouOvvB53re Summary: "A dossier, compiled by a person who has claimed to be a former British intelligence official, alleges Russia has compromising information on Trump. The allegations are unverified, and the report contains errors." It makes no claims.

Please show me which media outlets accused Trump. Because The New York Times didn't, The Washington Post didn't, CNN didn't, NPR didn't, BBC didn't... (Even the definitely left-leaning anti-Trump independent media outlet I subscribe too, Democracy Now!, didn't. But that's expected because despite being obviously biased, they're still reputable.) You confuse journalism with mass media. Cable news networks are not journalism, they are mass media. They report the news for an only hour and then report their opinions for twenty-three.

How is golden-showergate treating you? Like him or hate him the fake news that has been surrounding him especially from left leaning news agencies has been pretty outrageous What? Are you serious? Out of 35 pages, only a couple paragraphs discuss Trump's sexual behavior (about one page worth total, relatively; I just double-checked). This bullshit with the brandification and trivilizaiton of concepts (e.g., "Brexit") is juvenile. Stop it. No news organization has said the document is accurate. The news organizations have reported that a dossier was provided, that Obama and Trump were briefed on the dossier, and that McCain provided the dossier to the FBI. What did you read? Personally, I'm concerned whether or not the dossier is accurate. I'm concerned with the outcome regardless of the accuracy. If it's not accurate, Trump's administration will leverage it as a means to wrongly further weaken faith in journalism (advance: journalism is not a synonym for 'the media'). This reduces his accountability tremendously, and makes his administration opaque. If it's accurate, Trump is a shill for Russia and Mike Pence will ascend to the role of President, and frighteningly Pence will get more done along party lines than Trump ever would. I wouldn't be surprised to find faith in the United States political establishment will be dramatically eroded if this issue persists for long, regardless of its accuracy. Nuance, get some.

I'm not looking forward to 10 days from now. Can you guess why? In other news, I've lost 99 lbs. From 252 to 153. About 8 pounds left. Goal is by my birthday (February 25), so I've been planning and tracking my diet and exercise very carefully. From April 2015 to now, that's about 1 lb/week. Not too bad, I think. Can't wait to buy some new clothes!

I have a hamburger once every two weeks, maybe once every week. There's a rotating menu I use. We have pizza every week for two days though--I make two medium pizzas whenever my brother has a day off work. Usually have tomato soup + grilled cheese since it's cold. The rest is up in the air until I make a dinner plan for the week. Anyway, the buns were too small, so it made eating the burger hard. But it was pretty good. I liked the texture of the meat. The baked fries came out really good. I soaked the fries for a couple hours. Think that made a difference.
