  1. Then go ahead, argue your specific position and reword the argument a bit. The abortion arguments are difficult, as there's so many different kinds of abortion, and it's a subjective argument. Besides, if you're going down the human rights route - there has to be a compromise of either the mother's rights, or the fetus' (Who has arguably little to no rights, as it's not a developed being yet. Strictly speaking, under 5 weeks) There are pros and cons to internet anonymity - Pro's including the prevention of stalking, ability to express opinions without fear of retaliation/backlash, etc. The con's would include cyber attacks such as DDOSing and harassment by /b/. I think there should be a level of anonymity to protect users, but not to the extent that the authorities are unable to resolve online crime. As you stated - Some of these arguments are indeed too general to argue the positions. Please, suggest some improvements to them, or contribute your own. Every little helps.
  2. Banned for the lack of love.
  3. Well, I've seen a declining number of debate topics recently, and I think it would be a good idea to direct a chunk of it into a single thread. Consider any of the following arguments, and agree/disagree with some justification. Abortion is morally wrong. George Bush and Tony Blair ought to be trialled for war crimes. Meat eating ought to be banned. Anonymity on the internet should cease to exist. Animal testing should be banned. Not all people should have the same rights. Killing in self defense is still manslaughter. Assisted suicide shouldn't be discouraged. Not saving someone's life should be a criminal offense. Healthcare should be charged based on lifestyles (more applicable to the UK, as the National Health Service pays for pretty much all noncosmetic treatment) The use of torture can be justified If possible, please contribute/start a new argument of your own. 4. Well, I've always wondered about how the random number generator calculates damage. Could someone provide some insight into this? My personal theory would be that it consists of two 'dices': The first dice would be the hit/miss dice, where the attack and defense rolls are tossed. If the attack roll exceeds the defense roll, then move on to the second dice. The second dice would determine the base hit, calculated using current equipment/prayers/boosts. Any number between 1 and the maximum hit would be chosen (equal chance of any number), and then the number would be multiplied by any multiplier required (e.g. Ags special). What do you guys think? I'm not sure if this is the correct section and whether this is a thread worthy post, so mods, please move my thread if necessary.
  5. The thread that never dies.
  6. I know the feeling. Is there anything you guys could come up with for an awesome signature? I dislike pixel signatures in general. Perhaps something very witty and cunning. Maybe a Horatio joke EDIT - To whomever's idea I choose, I will credit you :). Too bad I can't do much more than that >.> @adrenal: Why not? Elaborate young paddawan, enlighten me.
  7. Sort of like an ASBO, except it's on the internet. Feels good bro.
  8. Inappropriate or irrelevant material posted in the subforums you mentioned may still be rulebreaking, regardless of the validity of the advice given. Flamebait and trolling would not be acceptable in any of Tip.It's subforums (although the enforcement of the rules may be more lax on some, such as Forum Games) However, if a debate emerges about something like CLS vs CR, then I think you're right, and they shouldn't moderate posts based on their personal views, as they are unlikely to know enough to effectively moderate the subforums. I think I partly agree with you, perhaps the moderators would agree and work out a system where that is possible.
  9. I enjoyed the first article. It was clear and concise, the idea was not abstract and it didn't spoon-feed information as if the reader had no idea of what was being discussed. I agree that 'too much' is very subjective, and it would depend on the amount of time that they're willing to spend on a game like RuneScape. 5000 castle war games is high enough for even some of the most efficient players to become exhausted, as it's so time consuming. Personally, it reaches a stage where it's too much when I'm unable/unwilling to do a certain task for the sake of time, or lack of enjoyment. Good examples of that would be trying to achieve 99 RuneCrafting, Mining or Agility. Fun vs Efficiency has already been discussed far too many times (the not so recent 'Efficiency' articles and threads), and it would really depend on the person.

(oh the irony) I mean, constructively criticizing is okay, but whining isn't. Also, couldn't people offer some kind of solution instead of just pointing out the obvious? Edit - Oh, and also when you know what you want to say, but you can't quite make out the words required to say it. It happens with defining or explaining things too.
  17. Why not? Edit - Just for jimmy_jim

  19. Not intending to be sexist, but female drivers. Sometimes I wonder how they've passed their tests, and whether they wore a short skirt to the exam. Most of the near-misses I've personally encountered had a female driver in the car, which I find both annoying and frustrating (not to mention life threatening). Not to say that men are any better, but I've noticed the trend in general.
  20. Obviously. How could I possibly make this into an innuendo?
