Firemaking, not a newb 99
So up untill now we have these things: 1. 99 Firemaking should be respected because: - It's boring, so not many people can keep up training it, however some think it's fun (me being one of those people). - It has a cool emote. - A 99 skill IS a 99 skill, no matter wich skill. 2. 99 Firemaking should not be respected because: - It's fast. - It's cheap. - It has no uses beyond 92, but not many skills have a real use at lvl 99. - People get it to get a cape. - Simple, eg. not a lot of ways to train. Just buy maples, willows, yews, etc. and burn like hell. Unless you decide to use the beacon network and add some spunk to the training.

Firemaking, not a newb 99
[hide=quotes from an fm-hater] also, i dont think buyable skills deserve as much respect certain non buyables, but they do deserve a lot more respect than easy to obtain buyables. the buyables i mentioned are costly, and yield no profit in return for the money and time spent. true, 99 fm yields no profit whatsoever and no return, but you can just drop <10M on it and achieve it in a matter of weeks. those other skills cost an upwards of 40m+ and take months. getting a 99 shouldnt be for the sake of getting a 99. it should be because u really want 99 in that particular skill no matter the costs. dont expect people to give you any respect if u got 99 fm (or fletch or cook) just for the sake of getting a 99 skill. and usually u can tell. u look up their stats, and if fm/fletch/cook is their highest by a wide margin (being closest second skill is at like sub 85ish (works better if non combat), then chance are that that person only got 99 in any of the 3 skills for a cape. the point of a 99 is so that it is an ACHIEVEMENT, not a reward. if you think u should be praised for getting 99 in a fairly easy skill, then you, my friend, are truly a noob, worthy of a noob cape. it doesnt matter how much time you put into it if the only reason u got it was to get a cape so you can be "equal", and in my mind, those people are lower than those without a cape. [/hide] You just don't like firemaking do you? A 99 skill is an ACHIEVEMENT, no matter what skill. In your opinion these persons could have done something better with their time, but I feel the same about skills I don't like training. If you don't like it, then just say that you don't like it and leave people with a fm cape alone.

secondary items for phoenix?
You could be asking you the same question. Let me do the honours. Who, according to you, has stated that it won't be an entirely new item?

Firemaking, not a newb 99
They do have different meanings. A 'newb' is someone that is new to an aspect or the whole of the game, a 'noob' is someone with an ignorant and arrogant attitude towards the game and other people. Aye, that be true. A noob and a newb are 2 completely different things.

You can get somewhere between 150K-200K exp/hour with maples. [/hide] Ok, and how much does this cost/how much do others [which i suggested you told us in the first place] cost? I realise you're not the author of this thead, and I didn't actually need an answer but I was demonstrating with figures you can change an opinion into more or less a fact; we don't have a definition for the noob cape, but you could at least put it level with other skills. Fastest woodcutting ex is somewhere around 65K-72K exp/hour.

Dragonkin: After the Rise of Lucien
It's only during the quest. After the quest Juna says nothing about it.

Ape Atoll for Agility
I'm pretty sure that you can only eat thsoe during the quest(RFD, I mean), but I could be completely wrong. You're not.

Firemaking is so boring!
agreed Disagreed. The beacons are a great way to train BTW. Just use maple or willows if you're not going for the items.

Firemaking, not a newb 99
I had a bunch of willows from 99 wc and it was my second closest skill to 99, so that I could get a trimmed wc cape.

Dragonkin: After the Rise of Lucien
I think it's more likely because the guardian is dead and the Stone has been moved out of it's hiding place. Still an interesting theory.

Hunter is faster and you gain profit with it. Shouldn't that be more "newb" then? Hunting red chinchompas is 150k exp/hour maximum (at 99 with arctic bear in a full world having an empty spot - according to Zarfot) and burning maples is 180k exp/hour maximum. So, you're wrong! Very well then. But you still make profit out of it and is also very easy to obtain.

I doubt Jagex would intentionally let the prize of ashes go over that of willow logs :?

secondary items for phoenix?
Even IF ashes are the secondary ingredient all the people investing might be in for a big loss coming up. It takes about 35k charms for get to 99 Summoning and IF the Phoenix provides fairly good exp and stays about that rate then you are talking about only spending 280k on secondary ingredients. When training up summoning you dont normally do more than a few thousand of each pouch before moving onto the next best exp for your level. If the Phoenix is around the level 70 region then the average person is only going to make 4 or 5 thousand of them. 5k*8gp is only 40k. However when you look at the exp rates for summoning familiars you notice that the ones that have easy to obtain ingredients yeild a lot less exp than others. A Ravenous Locust (lvl 70 summoning) which uses flour (45gp on the GE) is 132exp per pouch while Stranger Plant (lvl 64) is 281.6 exp and Granite Lobster (lvl 74) is 325.6 exp. With ashes being such an easy to obtain second and the familiar probably being a mid level it will not give enough exp to make it a worthwhile training option and thus the demand for seconds will not be in sufficient amounts to make a decent profit by selling ashes. Also with Bogrog exchanging pouches for more shards at 70% there isn't really a junk value in summoning because you get real value back out of it. Lastly, if you are buying at max on the GE then you are already too late and missed the boat for making a fast buck when/if ashes are the secondary ingredient. I expect the secondary ingredient to be untradeable and as reward from the quest/daily repeatable award they are adding. The pouches will be tradeable but due to the nature of obtaining seconds the trade value will be higher (note the prices of the pest control familiars) I totally agree. Just sell your ashes while you still can.

Hunter is faster and you gain profit with it. Shouldn't that be more "newb" then? hunter isnt that fast.... just alot of people have it because you make 35mil getting 99 firemaking is an awful skill but i respect those who get it in the same way ill respect a flecting or cooking cape, ill look over it and think not another one :? though the most commom cape is str Hunter was released on 21 november 2006. The first person to get 99 hunter got it on 2 december 206. That makes 11 days for 99 hunter.

I liked fm too. Especially making fires on the paths of other people. : So what's the use of herblore? Or slayer? What about smithing, fishing, woodcutting, construction, farming, and runecrafting? All supposedly "respectable" skillcapes, yet none of them have any practical reasons for getting 99. Firemaking gets the inferno adze at 92. What does farming get? The last thing you can plant is torstol, which is useless for planting, and spirit trees, which you can plant at level 83...not even a quarter of the way to 99. Herblore loses money on every potion except super weapon poison, and even then it's only because the ingredients are untradable...it's always cheaper to sell the ingredients and just buy the potion than to make it yourself. I could go on, but I hope you see that "uselessness" is not a measure of "n00biness." He has a point there. The only skills that are worth training to 99 are extraction skills (wc, mining, etc.), smithing, cooking and cons, for these have uses on lvl 99.

What about people who have got a whole load of willow logs on their bank? The last real usefull level is lvl 92 fm, for the Inferno Adze.

Hunter is faster and you gain profit with it. Shouldn't that be more "newb" then? i thought we were talking about fm and not hunter cape? beside's there can be 4+ newb cape's And you did well spending 3+weeks getting a cape with the same stats as a quest cape. Or 6+weeks for getting a trimmed cape. [reason why i don't have a single 99 is plainly because it costs too much time. Which i'd rather spend in doing something else.] Well I had the Quest cape and the Woodcutting cape, so I decided to get a trimmed Woodcutting cape, by getting my Firemaking to 99. It's a shame that it isn't used in Stealing Creations and 99 firemaking has no real use too.
