I mean, I haven't watched any of the 3rd season, nor have I watched the later episodes of season 2... but in every episode I have seen, Spike is the most dynamic character and often the funniest in the episode.

You sure those aren't the other way round? I guess they are backwards. I just did that from memory lol. The point is they aren't much better than current gloves unless they somehow boost damage like their description kind of hints at.

I don't know why they haven't canceled the show yet to be honest. I really just dislike it because Twi isn't the most likable of characters (then again, the only likable characters are Discord and Spike), it puts her above and beyond the other main characters, and it just throws another princess in there that isn't needed. Not like I care though.
