  1. I felt it deserved a thread of it's own, partially because there aren't any other threads in the first page anyway.
  2. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100704/tuk-religious-marriages-for-gay-couples-45dbed5.html Sure, not nearly as good as actual marriages, but as the title says- The UK is moving in the right direction.
  3. Various reasons. First, because it has potential to incite war, which I think is the biggest issue. Second, because many times nationalism leads to racism/xenophobia. There are some other reasons, but I think these are the main ones. Yeah, I said "I can." Sorry, lol. I blame the heat.

  5. I'm better than you because I'm from the future.
  6. Happy 4th of July to anyone who celebrates it. ;)
  7. I used to think my life has an... audience, that watches everything I do. Then at some point I watched a movie about a guy who actually has an audience, and found out everyone else does too. I think that's about when I stopped thinking that.
  8. I'm better than you because that's the way I was designed.
  9. I'm better than you because that's the way I was raised.
  10. I'm better than you because that's the way I was born.

I second this entire post. ;)
  12. I'm better than you because my name does.
  13. That's pretty cool! Regret: Having spent last night with the wrong people.
  14. I find fireworks very romantic. Though that probably has more to do with personal experiences, and less with fireworks per se.
  15. This pretty much. I'm not proud of our government here, though I think the people in the country can be pretty cool if they set their minds to it. Nationality is Italian, even though I've never been there. Family immigrated to the states less than 100 years ago. More proud of that, the Italian side brought a close family while the American part just brings a lot of facepalms. Nationality isn't the same as ethnic roots. Your nationality is American from what I gathered.
  16. This, pretty much. It's the only thing that can be done if you think about it rationally.
  17. I'd say I'm a patriot. Not the kind that thinks my country is superior to others, or that I'm superior because I belong here. But the kind that cares enough about my country to want to defend it. I guess what brought me to this state is a combination of different things. The holocaust plays a deep role here, Israel's history on it's own aswell, seeing innocent citizens die only because they're here definitely pushes me there some more. I could probably list a few more things, but I can admit to care about my country more than most would (about their country). I'm a proud patriot.
  18. Well, if you honestly care, and don't want to pursue a romantic relationship with her, I'd just say give yourself time till you become closer friends. Although, whatever you decide, decide with caution. It's easy to get caught up in these things, especially when it gives you the feeling of "I'm a good person" (that's probably legitimate though). It's not going to be easy if you're going at anything seriously. And make sure to put this somewhere at the back of your head: She will most probably give you a very hard time helping her. From ignoring your, to shouting at you and fighting with you, to other things. Best of luck!
  19. Do you plan on being with her eventually though?
  20. The point still remains, blizzard would not have threatened an article writer on a warcraft fan site. While Jagex has. Clearly they can not take criticism. Now in relation to the thread, how can i respect a company that is ran by total amateurs. These guys dont know how to deal with criticism or run their own game OR treat their customers properly. If a conventional - non gaming company did this, say McDonalds they would be out of business. Problem is that runescape has no competition, if there were other games with similar gameplay we would probably see Jagex start treating us better. Why not? It's libel, they have the right to do it. I know I would.
  21. But wouldn't knowing the future include knowing of any minor occurances or whatever, that would "change" the future, that's now known to you? I think if someone showed us the future, we would probably muck it up trying to stop it or to get to the future in the first place. For example in the second episode of dead zone. Johnny (main guy) sees a nurse at his hospital is going to be brutally murdered by a local killer who only kills women.. He panics and calls her, and she runs to her house through her yard because she hears the phone, had she of not run and walked, she would of been attacked by the killer, but because she managed to "avoid death" - The killer then went and found someone else to brutally murder. So even if you can cheat death for yourself, someone else could easily die in your place. I don't feel Death is something that can be predicted, or tamed. Thing is, wouldn't predicting the future, show what would happen if I tried to stop it aswell? Or if the future is set, and I predicted the future, wouldn't changing it be impossible in the first place, because the future already holds in itself what I'd do, and what would the causes of that be? And I don't think death is something that can be predicted or tamed either, it's just hypothetical situations we're discussing.
  22. I'm better than you because you are a nice old man.
  23. It's not selfish. Most people wouldn't want to deal with these problems, especially when they don't have to. That's understandable IMO.
  24. No such thing as not getting too involved in this, if your plan is to get involved. I've worked and befriended with many anorexic, and "ex"-anorexic girls in the past. "Ex", because it never really heals, when it supposedly does, the ex-anorexics simply don't comply with their minds' needs. But the thoughts - are still there. (Although, it varies from person to person- Some have reduced thoughts, some just have the same thoughts, some have very reduced thoughts, and some have increased thoughts.) Some clarification here: Anorexia usually means a psychological & physical condition. Some have only the physical condition (i.e. underweight), and some only the psychological condition (i.e. "ex-anorexic"). If you're going to stay with her, you're probably going to have to deal with a girl that has those thoughts for most of the day, every day. She cannot help it. Lastly: Anorexia (when it's both physical and psychological), is 99% of the time a result of a deep need for attention (along with other things). When someone's seeking for attention as a need, and not a wish, you can understand they've had some very "unpleasant" lives, at the very, very least. Best of luck, Anorexia is a horrlble illness. You should be very willing to deal with deep psychological problems if you're going to continue seeing her. If you are, it's going to be tough, be prepared. EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anorexia_nervosa EDIT2: By the way, I'm not sure she even really is anorexic (or ex-anorexic), do you know what her history is, even not in detail?
  25. But wouldn't knowing the future include knowing of any minor occurances or whatever, that would "change" the future, that's now known to you? OT: I'm not scared of death, so I'd actually like to know unlike most (all?) of you here. It wouldn't be hanging in the back of my head for every single second of every day, I'd just know when "it's due". I don't really care about the specific date, just knowing if I die when I'm 20+, 25+, 30+, 50+, 70+, 90+, etc. Curiousity killed the cat, anyone?
