  1. It's been way too long! It's great to see you around too. :D I'll, um, stop cluttering this thread up with off topic stuff now. XD Actually i was the one who was originally off topic, I had to go back and add content :P Hope to see you stick around!
  2. It's dang nice to see you posting Glove! To clarify: I'm all about the exclusive perks of going to cons, there's a reason i plan my convention trips 4-8 months in advance to get early bird packages with more goodies and perks. However I think jagex could of done something aside a game item, thats purely cosmetic, because it does smell a bit hypocritical. I'd much rather see jagex give away signed copies of it's book, limited edtion art prints, statues of npcs like duradel or random collectibles that are still worth going for - and would in all honesty still be worth a chunk of change on the secondary market. Heck, i'd even bid on some ;) i think it would be a cooler thing overall than an in game item as it's something that can be displayed in person for a real life trip - and it doesn't seem to violate those core principals harped upon for the past decade. While I understand Blizzcon is over $100, - Lots of shows for comics/entertainment/sport do charge about $15-50 and manage to host in big venues (london, LA, San Diego, NY) Hell, Botcon is at flipping DISNEY WORLD - and thats a small show in comparison to other shows. My problems fundamentally lie on three things jages has done here. 1) It's an adults only event - in a PG 13 game. This game is driven by 13-18 year olds, and to alienate them is a odd move by serving alcohol (21+ usa at least not sure how it works if an 18 year old American is in UK) - That seems to be an odd statement for a game company that has targeted itself demographically towards the 13-18 audience. 2) It's a convention , where people meet, although i figured it would happen someday, I find it humorous we can't ask for an MSN/Yahoo/Aim messenger in game, but we can go to a con and meet people in the flesh - now if you provide adult only servers where adults can talk to adults and exchange messengers - thats fair, but they don't , it's still "lockeddownkidscape" 3) The in game item for real life event - strikes me as slightly funny - because it will create a flaw in the once sound RWT arguement (yes, i saw the picture a few posts up and logically, it's still rwt at it's core on the fact you bought something in life, got something in game) Do i give a damn? not really, I've got adventurecon, dragoncon and wizardworld alanta to do this year - but i think the side of the "jagex shouldn't do this" needs some help, so i'm arguing with them ;) ~Das1330
  3. This has came up from time to time from the youtube thread and other discussions we have had internally. Although I will come back and clarify this later with an official response, Unofficially - I don't see a problem if it has a swear or two that is censored like for example "shit" - however it would probably be wise to avoid the F-bomb or Racial slurs other songs that cuss often. - For now it might be a good idea to avoid most rap :P Will get back with an official response in 24 hours or so.- may take a bit longer as the youtube thread and others may need clarifying as well
  4. i'd still head to a convention that's actually worth my money before runefest. (SDCC 2011?) - They cannot and will not cook up enough fun for $115 to get me to go to london, or even alanta a few hours away, I'm used to paying $10-50 for major sports/comic cons and getting ALOT more value for my buck. But what people don't seem to get is there seems to be 2 types of complainers. 1) People who want it, for whatever reason, and cant go for whatever reason 2) People who disagree with the moral principle of an in game item being obtained by real life opportunity OR people who are upset it's an adult only event when this game has catered to sniveling children for years. I'm in the second boat. Money for items isn't really an object for me, i'd probably have all buyable skills maxed ages ago if that was the case. however considering the companies principles and adamant "MONEY WILL NEVER MEAN ANYTHING IN RUNESCAPE" approach of the last decade, it is sort of laughable and I can see why people are getting upset over the principal idea of jagex changing it's philosophy or bending it to fit an event. If jagex want's to sell GP for $$$, fine by me, i'll even buy 99 herblore and some other skills, however to do so after making your goal for the past decade a game where real life status had no influence on your abilty to play, it's hypocritical at best to do it in my view.

  8. stickies limit discussion and are seldom read compared to other topics. I'd desticky every topic on this forum if i could :P
  9. IPB, because i pushed for the conversion heavily .
  10. I disagree. How is it fair that by accident of simply being born across the ocean from the eventual Jagex HQ that I have absolutely no opportunity to attend this event? Yes I can purchase the ticket and redeem the item if I seriously wanted to, but why would I put that money into an event and get 5% opportunity 'payback' than I would if I actually lived in England and could attend? I don't know. Call me bitter..but this doesn't seem fair. Do you have the ablility to think outside of yourself? People payed money to go to RuneFest, they deserve a nice little cosmetic item. There is no reason that this is "unfair" I do, And i'm a convention goer. Most Comic-Cons or cons for movies/shows give exclusive free stuff for attendees. Often it's a promotional bag of items from various vendors attending who want free publicity. San Diego Comic con - has had exclusive action figures for every major line from Gi Joe to Star Wars/transformers/marvel/dc whatever for the past decade or so. These items would SKYROCKET on ebay after the con and sell for triple or more of what an attendee paid for them.the following few days, some of these items are hundreds more now than they were. Then hasbro and others got the bright idea "we can make more money if we sell our con exlusives online at our website the following day at the store online the next day!" - Not many people complained, even though the item lost a metric ton of value. Why? 1) although toy collecting is expensive, not everyone can take a week off, fly to san deigo and attend 2) it alienates collectors. collectors who spend anywhere from a few hundred to thousands of dollars on a line per year. 3) It's good PR - hasbro gets kudos once a year from the collector community for making nice figures available to all. One issue is - people who go to cons often sell free stuff on ebay to cover the costs. I know a few years ago - the iron man "Stark industries" flash drives from the marvel booth were selling for $20-30. Sometimes you can sell your bag to cover your ticket cost. Jagex has stated numerous times RWT and selling items is horrible, not in the spirit of the game and the sort. doing this - in an ADULT ONLY con when the audience is 13-18 and making it an exclusive thing in london certainly seems to indicate the spirit of the game has shifted. Make some exclusive plush animals, or comic, something tangible, exclusive and sellable - keep game items out of it. I'm all for con exclusives, but game content for an overpriced (sorry, i'm comparing it to conventions on the hole) con seems to contradict everything jagex has stood for. It's not about the price though, I've spent over $300 on collectibles in the last 60 Days according to my bank account :-P - so obviously I can swing a $116 ticket however. 1) It doesn't seem fair to do this in a game populated by kids who cant attend the event 2) even if i bought a ticket, I have a JOB, i can't just take off of work on a dime 3) the event would probably cost an american person a grand or so, and not everyone has that type of money (food, hotel, flight, other $$$ to buy stuff) So no, don't see where in game exclusive content is needed for this con, it doesn't affect my interest. i'd rather go to SDCC or if london, LFCC because you get more value for your money and there will be more to do than drink some whiskey with some gamers at those cons than runefest will have to do.

    Maturity

"if you have to justify why or how you are mature, you are not mature" ~Rab Never heard better words in my life. Very true.
  12. I'd like to think the world would be less wealthy than it is now, and the world would be devoid of much of it 's entertainment they take for granted.

    greatest athlete?

I'll do a few of my favorites now. xD - i could spam this topic all to hell with hall of famers and gold medalists but these stick out. [
  14. as an autograph collecting convention [bleep]. you can get into the london film and comic con for £10 euros or less depending on the day. You can get into dragoncon or San Deigo comic con (Two of the biggest and best in the world) for under half for a day, or a bit more for all 4 or 7 days (depending on the packages) Most USA cons cost $10-15 a shot to get in the door. Most big cons have lots of autograph guests, the bigger ones have exclusive collectible figures for major toy lines with hasbro, and others there. Most big cons have hundreds or more of dealers selling collectibles. No con i know of - American based or British based ever includes food or drink in the price. I have an epic feeling this will tank. badly. Hell for $115, that gets me in the door to adventurecon for the day, autographs of Jake Lloyd (little vader episode one), Mark Ryan (Bumblebee from transformers movies), Charisma Carpenter and probably two more autograph guests of my choosing.
  15. People use the economy to support and downtalk any issues on runescape, Personally, I enjoyed bonus weekend, i DON'T CARE what effect it had on the economy, it was the first time i spent 5 or 6 hours grinding a skill and ENJOYED it. in years. 99 were "undervalued" the day jagex added macros in the form of make x to the game. Dont get all whiney and elitist because your cape was devalued for a weekend if someone played die hard and smart for 4-6 hours because from my standpoint, your 99's are macro'ed if they were done with a make x. infact, the longer you have had the cape, the cheaper you got it for anyway, making double xp weekend people STILL PAY MORE.
  16. Noone is stopping you from using your money on items or skills. If you HAVE money, why do you need more? and more importantly why play a game to make only more money? And why not do it in a way that don't affect others? I'm surprised of your comment. I dont play every hour, my money may as well make me more money from when I can play :)
  17. if i have money, I want to be able to spend it however i deem fit. If it raises the prices to where you cant afford stuff, too bad, too sad for you.
  18. totally didnt understand that lmao

  21. Oh man that could be a good idea. There are a few people that I would want to sign my copy of Mass Effect 2. That's actually an interesting cast. Seth Green and Lance Henriksen would prove to be tough to get on the manuals - but are easy enough to get on card thanks to inkworks. I've been trying to track down Keith David for saints row 1 & 2 for ages, so good luck . I've been trying to track down a few voice actors for awhile (Three Dog and others from Fallout), David and Daniel Dae Kim (Saints Row) and the star wars talents. The only problem is video game casts now feature big name actors that are already tough to get like Liam Neeson (Fallout) and Eliza Dushku (Saints row)
