Your phone: is it your property?
It's no different than a car or a facebook. I've ran into people who dont have a cell phone more than people who don't have a facebook. So you can either accept your argument is initially flawed or denounce technology altogether. Social Norms change, with our without you - and will continue to do so. You can bet your ass if the goverment said I needed a tracking RFID or Christianity was banned - i would say no, and if it was a problem, they could come and install one over my cold dead, lifeless body - because I choose to stand up for those issues, Thats too far in controlling my life, Too far in the application of technology. So you either feel strongly about it, or you don't. You ever worked manual labor? Did anything the hard way? I'm strongly doubting no by your posting so far. Ever milked a cow? Planted a garden? These things can be done by machine, they can be done manually. A cell phone is a convenience. Whats bad about it? It's a convenience, it's not like when i'm eating , i'm going to freak out and stop and chat, I will check the caller ID, because it could be a family emergency, but if it's a friend, they will wait as long as I deem necessary. Phones have voicemail. My Grandparents, Grew up in the depression, and you know as much as they talk about the good old days, they sure as hell don't want to go back to that and they know that. Do you think Washington would of preferred a flush toilet and a sink with hot water or a hole in the ground? Do you think Washington would of preferred muskets or m16s? I grew up on Dial up, Did I have it bad? No, it was what I knew, all anyone knew and the norm. I had a cell phone with a game boy (green/black) Led when I was 16, SMS wasn't mainstream and phones didn't have keyboards, cameras or the internet. Hell, We had MIDI ringtones, and they were COOL. Why did I have a cell at 16? I drove a motor Vehicle, and I had a job. I could of got stranded or in an accident and needed to make a call. It's a tool, nothing more, nothing less, it's up to someone to decide how to use the tool, and yes, I carry it around with me, I also carry my wallet. It's a convenience, and you can say i'm addicted to it, and i'm going to say you're naive, and haven't hit the real world yet in terms of actual responsibility. Sorry if thats harsh. You can go without a cell phone, It may affect your ability to maintain a job with lots of responsibility, and it may cost you friends (so you say, i've yet to meet someone who cared about if people had a cell to be friends) - But how thats how you choose to live life.

Your phone: is it your property?
Do you have to keep up with a Wallet? Keys? Any real objects that require any form of responsibility? I put my keys, wallet and cell in the same place every night. Else it is in my pants pocket it's not like i have to keep it on a leash, it has a ringer. I think if you hate technology that much, you should go become amish or quaker. I believe you are refering to RF-ID's not cells.

Your phone: is it your property?
I own a cell phone. I have it with me daily, and keep a charger in my car. I have valid reasons for this. 1) It allows people to contact me when I am not home, I am often away from my house, especially when I was enrolled in Uni and traveling. No one has ever gave me grief for missing calls. 2) My grandparents health is on the decline, it's nice to be able to know if something happens and be available for an emergency 3) Texts allow me to communicate short messages to people and bypass phone calls to communicate 4) I have a job, something I presume you don't by your attitude, due to the nature of my job, I'm on call to a degree. 5) Mobile web allows me to check things as the need arises - pricecheck something on amazon, reverse look up a number or get directions or check my dvd collection page to see if i own that movie before i buy it. 6) Mobile IM - Lets me assist in running this forum if something is needed on the road. My parents, understand and realize I'm a 22 year old with a degree from a university - why would they worry? I can handle myself? If you're parents worry and you feel the cell phone is a burden due to this, you're clearly under 18, or you have strict parents . I don't always answer my phone, some days, I might not feel like talking, or i'm doing something important. I don't take my phone to church, out of respect for god's house, and I don't reply to texts. Infact I got a text from my coworker at Noon. - I didn't bother replying to him until I came into work 5 hours later, he didn't even think anything of it. Last night I got a text from a girl I like, I responded in under a minute. Today I got a call from my buddy who has been my friend since 6th grade. I was watching an episode of Angel, and didn't feel like pausing it. I called him back 45 minutes later. It's an issue that you are making a mountain out of a molehill. It's been invaluable for times when 1) I'm picking up an item for a friend/family member at a store and forgot wtf i'm supposed to pick up 2) Group projects in uni 3) Calling my boss when my tire was flat and would be late for a critical meeting at work 4) Making plans on the Fly 5) being able to talk to pretty women anywhere and everywhere.

The Lucid Lynx
Half trolling, half wanting someone to convince me to write a darn good argument like you did. I've always enjoyed XP, and windows 7 has been a dream so far for my personal use, so I certainly wouldn't mind knowing things like you posted, I certainly found your post informative and interesting, i'll have to catch up with you on MSN or something later

just to clarify, i use the stick, not spray on axe.

greatest athlete?
Aikman, Bradshaw and Montana have the same if not more number of wins. Justify it. Roethlisberger - could also tie/pass him.

I too sweat alot or used too. Infact I can safely say I had like 10 grey t-shirts in highschool because of that fact.. I can say I sweat alot less at 22, than I did at say 16 or 17. Even doing more strenuous physical activity. I really find Axe Anti Perspective to work well - it has a few different smells too.

It's not that we are unwilling to code software or things to better the forum - we do lots of coding projects. But as far as we know and can tell- this feature EXISTS and works for everyone but YOU - and theres no need to make a special coding feature for you since your problem is a minor inconvenience at best and reasonable workarounds (back+f5, history) do exist i'm going to leave this topic open - just to see if any one else has the same issue. I'd love to hear if people can use the login redirect feature and it works or if it redirects them to the index.

I highly doubt your ISP is to blame, it sounds like you have your computer locked down for "Security" - so it's probably within a custom setting regarding that. Going to extremes like that to filter anything remotely mentioning to a website such as facebook - makes me feel with extreme certainty that you have blocked something preventing the feature from working like it does for everyone else. if you dont have a facebook, no need to block facebook, they are for the most part harmless. Social norms including privacy ARE CHANGING.

I've tested this feature on a wnindows 7. xp, vista and 2000 machine and even OSX - I tested in IE/CHROME/FF and Safari/FF on the mac. All log you in at the page you were last logged in on. Asides from the Windows 7 Machine, these are all test machines with basic anti-virus installed with little default settings changed. My Windows 7 machine, which is locked down fairly secure - is not causing an issue either. it's not an IPB/TIF issue If you're that paranoid of facebook, Delete your facebook, and stop worrying about them ;)

Similarities between Dungeoneering and everything else
No I'm pretty sure Uwe Boll invented moving things through the air. But Christopher Walken moved through air before uwe boll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Ky5R-vxns

Similarities between Dungeoneering and everything else
Uwe boll films are horrid, People say he's one of the worst directors of all times. if someone's ripping from him, someone is desperate, lots of characters have the ability to move things. Runewright is more of a magneto to me.

Alright guys, [Administrative post] enough with the poor and not poor comments. Alot of posters here - are under $18 - that means unless parents decide to fly them to england, not happening no matter how rich parents may be. More posters here - are college/uni students, Thats like a special zone of poverty. ;P Even if you can afford it - it's still a BIG trip, that unless you make six figures (not everyone does) that's a pretty pricey thing, Statistically most middle class American families spend less on vacation then what this event costs . It's dang nice to see you posting Glove! To clarify: I'm all about the exclusive perks of going to cons, there's a reason i plan my convention trips 4-8 months in advance to get early bird packages with more goodies and perks. However I think jagex could of done something aside a game item, thats purely cosmetic, because it does smell a bit hypocritical. I'd much rather see jagex give away signed copies of it's book, limited edtion art prints, statues of npcs like duradel or random collectibles that are still worth going for - and would in all honesty still be worth a chunk of change on the secondary market. Heck, i'd even bid on some ;) i think it would be a cooler thing overall than an in game item as it's something that can be displayed in person for a real life trip - and it doesn't seem to violate those core principals harped upon for the past decade. While I understand Blizzcon is over $100, - Lots of shows for comics/entertainment/sport do charge about $15-50 and manage to host in big venues (london, LA, San Diego, NY) Hell, Botcon is at flipping DISNEY WORLD - and thats a small show in comparison to other shows. My problems fundamentally lie on three things jages has done here. 1) It's an adults only event - in a PG 13 game. This game is driven by 13-18 year olds, and to alienate them is a odd move by serving alcohol (21+ usa at least not sure how it works if an 18 year old American is in UK) - That seems to be an odd statement for a game company that has targeted itself demographically towards the 13-18 audience. 2) It's a convention , where people meet, although i figured it would happen someday, I find it humorous we can't ask for an MSN/Yahoo/Aim messenger in game, but we can go to a con and meet people in the flesh - now if you provide adult only servers where adults can talk to adults and exchange messengers - thats fair, but they don't , it's still "lockeddownkidscape" 3) The in game item for real life event - strikes me as slightly funny - because it will create a flaw in the once sound RWT arguement (yes, i saw the picture a few posts up and logically, it's still rwt at it's core on the fact you bought something in life, got something in game) Do i give a damn? not really, I've got adventurecon, dragoncon and wizardworld alanta to do this year - but i think the side of the "jagex shouldn't do this" needs some help, so i'm arguing with them ;) ~Das1330

What's this? A new subforum just for us?
This has came up from time to time from the youtube thread and other discussions we have had internally. Although I will come back and clarify this later with an official response, Unofficially - I don't see a problem if it has a swear or two that is censored like for example "shit" - however it would probably be wise to avoid the F-bomb or Racial slurs other songs that cuss often. - For now it might be a good idea to avoid most rap :P Will get back with an official response in 24 hours or so.- may take a bit longer as the youtube thread and others may need clarifying as well

i'd still head to a convention that's actually worth my money before runefest. (SDCC 2011?) - They cannot and will not cook up enough fun for $115 to get me to go to london, or even alanta a few hours away, I'm used to paying $10-50 for major sports/comic cons and getting ALOT more value for my buck. But what people don't seem to get is there seems to be 2 types of complainers. 1) People who want it, for whatever reason, and cant go for whatever reason 2) People who disagree with the moral principle of an in game item being obtained by real life opportunity OR people who are upset it's an adult only event when this game has catered to sniveling children for years. I'm in the second boat. Money for items isn't really an object for me, i'd probably have all buyable skills maxed ages ago if that was the case. however considering the companies principles and adamant "MONEY WILL NEVER MEAN ANYTHING IN RUNESCAPE" approach of the last decade, it is sort of laughable and I can see why people are getting upset over the principal idea of jagex changing it's philosophy or bending it to fit an event. If jagex want's to sell GP for $$$, fine by me, i'll even buy 99 herblore and some other skills, however to do so after making your goal for the past decade a game where real life status had no influence on your abilty to play, it's hypocritical at best to do it in my view.
