Ronan
Any comments on if this is the item that's going to be redeemable? Personally it seems like a nice, little addition for those attending RuneFest if it is the item - assuming it has no bonuses then it all seems good. :)
_YB_
You can also wield it like a banner dont got a picture from that but mark had it equipped
Clan_Chat_Op
yup, so Jagex is following other MMORPG's footsteps and having the redeem code for that item for the people who spend a thousand dollars flying over to UK. Classy Jagex. I skill. If you skill you should join.
Orc
Kept trying to grab a good screeny with the Orb and Mod Ian kept moving it everytime i got close, he did mention that a KB will be up very soon explaining the 'banners'. So there may be more then one, or a simple mistake. I did grab this screeny though.

Skeptical
Well, at least they haven't started giving out unique, high-powered weapons and armor to those who have money to burn. Kind of wish that I did, though, lol. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." Support transparency... and by extension, freedom and democracy. Ronan
But what's the major issue that people feel strongly about here? Surely this is just a momento for those who attended the event. The way I see it is that the money paid is for the event, this is simply a gift from Jagex for those who attended rather than those who 'bought' it. Saying that though - I'm not so narrow-minded that I can't see that others will feel differently, considering it is the first of it's kind in the game. :)
Dire_Wolf
Considering the expenses of those who are going, i think it's only fair that they get such a item to show off. I am not going myself, wish i could get that banner though.

I have no problem with Jagex giving an in game item to those who went, i think it's completely fair and a nice treat. I probably won't be going either though unless around August there are still some tickets left and i find myself with some spare time and money and think what the heck I'll splash out. I've been applying for a few new jobs around the country aswell for my university placement year so i'll have to see how they go first before i spend the money and make a commitment to go. thanks for that screen :L i was forgot to take a picture of that the more details button linked to : http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/holiday_items_guideYou're welcome, it's not a very interesting screen but I thought I masewell post it and also that what Mod Ian said was funny, he sounded like a spoilt child in the background hehe :P
Kimberly
I have no problem with Jagex giving an in game item to those who went, i think it's completely fair I disagree. How is it fair that by accident of simply being born across the ocean from the eventual Jagex HQ that I have absolutely no opportunity to attend this event? Yes I can purchase the ticket and redeem the item if I seriously wanted to, but why would I put that money into an event and get 5% opportunity 'payback' than I would if I actually lived in England and could attend? I don't know. Call me bitter..but this doesn't seem fair.

I don't know. Call me bitter..but this doesn't seem fair.I can definitely see your point, but is there really a need for everyone to always have the same chance as others to get an item? If this is meant as a memento for those that attended, why should those who didn't feel the need to have it? Surely it would mean nothing, or very little, to those who didn't attend the event? I would mention that I'm far too hard up at the moment to have the cash to purchase a ticket, so it's not that I'm biased! :P

There is no reason that this is "unfair" They paid because they can go. Yes I get that. Why should I pay when I can't go though just to obtain an item? The ends do not justify the means. Yes it's a little selfish, but come on. Don't even try to tell me they aren't going to be getting dozens of other exclusive freebies. Why couldn't they leave it at that? If this is meant as a memento for those that attended, why should those who didn't feel the need to have it? Surely it would mean nothing, or very little, to those who didn't attend the event? True, and I guess that's where my little bit of selfishness comes in. But there's something a little unsettling in that, while I have the financial means to afford a ticket, I do not have the means to fly over there and pay for a two night hotel stay and fly back, so I'm essentially missing out on my chance to obtain this item. This little piece of history. And I'm big on collecting history.

There is no reason that this is "unfair" Its not "unfair" if Jagex pay for the plane ticket for anyone outside the UK.The fact that anyone outside the uk have to pay atleast double of what anyone in the UK has to is why people are saying its unfair. There is no reason that this is "unfair" I was under the understanding that the people that payed for rune fest spent their money on....runefest. The item seems to be not fair to not only people who live somewhere that it wouldn't make sense to go, but also people that just don't have the extra money to go. Holy crap  Say your friend goes to a concert and get a load of goodies from the band/venue owners. Would you ring up the band/venue owners and complain that you should get the said goodies even though you didnt attend the event? 99 Attack - Done
Dire_Wolf
People! i got a solution to the problems! Players who attended event, with code gets:the banner as said Player who want the banner but didn't attend (maybe did a small event in-game?):gets a copy of the banner, exactly same but without "Rune Fest 2010". That way we can separate those who went and didn't.

Bands go on tours and they usually eventually pop up in your location. This has no guarantee of EVER coming anywhere close to the states, not even Canada. If they said, "Yes we'll probably look at doing these in different countries", I wouldn't be so frustrated.
